Last night we had Indian for dinner. Normally I have Kingfisher an Indian beer that's not to bad.

Now I don't think I have had Budweiser since the 90s. I remembered it being bad but my tastes have changed as I didn't like beer much back then.

So I had it with fairly low expectations. At first I was pleasantly surprised. It was a lot better than I thought it would be. It wasn't good but it was alright. About half way through the bottle the taste got worse though. Turned a bit meh. I managed to finish the bottle and with a hot curry I could probably do another one but washed the taste away with a Kingfisher.

Overall low side of average. Usually drink IPAs, APAs and Pilsners. Dave Lister was right a lager kills a vindaloo. It was 4.9% not sure if it's imported or brewed in New Zealand under licence. It was nicer than crap beer here though and most of the "normal " beers. I would rate it similar to a Steinlager in terms of preference.

I managed to finish the bottle though. Had a lot worse. Probably pass the would drink if free test.

Liked for the Red Dwarf shoutout ;)

Bud, blech. The stuff is only good at near freezing temps and gets worse the warmer it gets which leads to chugging. I wind up more drunk on that stuff than good beer because I feel like I need to get rid of it before it tastes bad.

Budweiser is alright. Honestly a Miller lite can be alright. I started drinking beer as quality seeking snob but it’s all pretty unnecessary. Matters a lot more with liquors and wine.

These new seltzer water alcohols are where it’s at.

I went to the after party for a wedding, looked in the frig and saw only bud light. Went to hotel bar to find it was just closed. Went back and drank a few sips of one and promptly returned to my room to go to sleep. didn't want to waste the effort. And my standards for beer are pretty low.

There's worse beer here. Americans seem to like some of it though.

My theory is if you are used to your own crap beer, anything that tastes different is an improvement.

I know Bud has a crappy rep online. I would have to drink a few in a row but here we have DB, Speights and Tui all of which are worse than Bud IMHO.

After 5 or 6 it really doesn't matter much. ;)

Light as in low alcohol?

Never seen the point of them. Just drink less, would rather have 3 good beers than 6 meh ones.

Alcohol is a plague upon humanity. I would fully agree with prohibitionists if enforcement were not such a disaster, and it would not enrich organized crime, and turn the streets into (worse) gangland warzones. My step-father, two ex-girlfriends, and several friends and former friends are, or were, alcoholics, and it's not pretty. There are more deaths every year related to alcohol than from all illegal street drugs combined.

Slightly lower alcohol. Lower in carbs too. They originally marketed it as diet beer lol.

Moderation is key. Prohibition just moves the industry underground funding criminal activity. Does nothing to end the problem.

Cultural, my father was boozer as well. I drink almost every week but only get drunk maybe once a year.

You can regulate how people buy booze and drugs, you can't regulate how they consume them.

Anglo Saxon culture also leans heavily on binge drinking (UK, USA, NZ, Aussie etc).

Oh, you mean Anglo-Saxons like Joseph Smith, jr., or Brigham Young, or most of the leadership of the Western prohibitionist movement, or even myself? :undecide:

What about Ivan ? (Finland, Baltics etc)
The statistics are quite grim, since they consume mostly Vodka, and there soft drink Kavas is actually alcoholic, Plus you know being under the rule of soviet I too would drink myself into an early grave

Black Butte Porter (Deschutes Brewery, Bend Oregon)

Cant drink any more :( I could maybe handle 1 or 2 a week but why bother

I drank way too much Bud, mostly on the golf course

Eh, Budweiser is fine. You drink it when your out and about and it's hot. It's like a beer to have at the zoo with the kids and you need to drive home afterwards. It's more water-y and less beer-y than most beers and let's be honest. We only like beer because we got used to it. It's revolting.

Did not claim we had an exclusive on alcohol abuse.

All a minority view. At least you acknowledge prohibition not only failed but made the problem worse. If you abuse alcohol you're an idiot IMHO. Lots of idiots in the world.
