Westerners typically adhere to tropical astrology...which will not change because it is based on the seasons. So almost everyone is freaking out for no reason
What has changed is sidereal astrology. That is typically followed in the East. It is based of the stars, so it does change...but the change of dates happened almost 100 years ago.
While I enjoy a good freakout as much as the rest of us, you all need to understand that NOTHING has changed in either tropical or sidereal astrology in the past decade...SO CALM DOWN!!!!

Basically, the change of the location of the constellations over time is a little bit more complicated than the people who came up with this nonsense were aware of at the time. As well as the annual orbit of the sun, there are longer scale periodic movements. Depending on where we are on those longer scale swings, this puts the dates associated with each constellation out by quite a considerable amount.
We've been aware of this for decades, but since astrology doesn't actually have anything to do the position of the stars in the sky, and a whole lot to do with shameless liers who don't know the first thing about science, nothing has changed. Nor do I expect it will change just because some PR company manufactured a fake news story about astrology for reasons I can't quite fathom.
This is not a 'suggested change', it's a change that astrologers would make if they actually believed the things they said. Read which ever horoscope you want, they're all of equal relavence to your life.
Edit: I honestly wonder if the guy who just equated studying physics with 'studying' astrology managed to do so with a straight face.

There's no such thing as "knowledge" about astrology. Its all made up crap.
I dunno. It takes training to be able to bullcrap convincingly.
My horoscope tells me to ignore people who put me down, and that I will be rewarded with great success if I follow my current path.

You have to look to the whole chart, that you are Gemini means that your Sun was in Gemini at your birth. Your Moon, Mercury and so on could be in any other sign.
Astrology never says that you are in a certain way, neither is it about putting labels upon people. If we are told that we are a label there is no development. Astrology tells you about your strengths and weaknesses, and what you have to learn.
Gemini is very much about learning more about communication and wisdom.

That's because astrology never wants to go as far as make predicitions about your future (what it purports itself to do) for fear of being found out.
Your strengths and weaknesses bit will more likely be as a result of the process of cold reading, not any actual analysis of the "influence" the stars have on you.
Astrology is a giant con, grown out of the mistaken belief that ancients held in the stars being of influence over peoples' lives.
