So... is that it?

We've been reading some news of the expansion's new features. We can expect X number of new units, X number of new civs, spying, religion, etc. And of course, maybe a few other small trinkets.

However, I'm wondering if there's another MAJOR feature (in line with the major features of spying or religion) that hasn't been mentioned? Maybe something to do with monarchies (since 'Kings' is in the title)? Maybe random events?

Is it typical of Xpacks to hide one SUPER AMAZING feature until the last minute? Seems unlikely...

What do you guys think?

The combat and navy overhauls are in my opinion the numero uno huge features, it's supposed to make AI fight better, and to do more naval invasions and use navies, and battles will be longer and more epic (by the way the word epic is too overused in the interned, here I think it justifies it's use.. ;) )

Also for me my biggest thing I'm excited about is the new diplo changes, AI is more forgiving over past wars and mishaps, there's the early game religious alliances and "holy wars", and late game ideologies and grand alliances. Which espionage compliments well by the way.. :)

The new expanded city-state system seems very cool at least on paper, looking forward to that too!

And just the sheer number of new Civs and units is mindblowing.

Finally I bet that the new lead designer is going to be a smart smart choice, his AI programming and boardgame designing history serves Civ V style game just great.. :)

I think all of those are on the same level as religion and espionage, although I get what you mean by your post. Maybe we'll get a surprise, I'm crossing my fingers for expanded United Nations with resolutions.

yup. there will be some small surprises, but no other big features. they have plenty of details to hold out on us and keep the anticipation going.

I would say it's just the details that need filling in and elaborating on. We still don't know all that much about the scenarios, for instance, so I assume they'll release a fair amount of information on them.

I doubt there will be any major surprises, but I've got my fingers crossed for a complete rethink of the trading post tile improvement and localized city-health with associated resources ;)

Well holding back on some feature and then revealing it ( well before release of course) would generate more media coverage so it is not impossible. But I dont expect anything huge, their announcements before release will prob be the new civs, some more detail on the already known systems and perhaps some multiplayer feature.

This would be totally awesome and very welcome. It would also be a major surprise.

They should leave some stuff to improve for the second expansion ;)
(And as the achievements have 'XP1' in their name, I wouldn't doubt there'll be at least a second expansion).

I don't think it's wise for them to include ALL of the DLC, not onyl will that upset me (because they probably worked on the Expansion Pack the moment Vanilla came out) but it's a bad financial decision.

And I'm expecting to see some G&K content (DLC)

I don't think it makes financial sense to release all DLC since people might still buy them otherwise. On the other hand, it's possible almost all those who will already did. In that case, maybe they will. Almost certainly, Spain will be included. The mention of Spain treated it as an exception, but I don't know if that was a final decision.

Yeah, all we're getting is 9 new Civs, 27 new units, an entire new WW1 era, several new buildings and wonders, the addition of the religion system, espionage, overhauled city-state mechanics, altered (and hopefully improved) diplomacy, a better combat system, a better diplomatic victory, and 3 new scenarios.

Anyone else feeling ripped off? :)

I remember we all thought the game was dead just awhile ago. Of course in the back of my mind I was hoping for an expansion. Now I will not be so skeptical when people say there won't be a third one. I believe there will be one more xpac.

I feel angered that DLC exists at all.

I did at first, but not now. Especially with the xpac and after that new DLCs to buy, you can sign old nokmirt up for more of that.

Not only nokmirt. Sihn me up too. I feel DLC are a great addition to the game. And I can't wait for the first DLC after the Expansion Pack to arrive :)

If there were only DLC and no Expansion Pack I can imagine people being angered, but DLC next to expansion packs? Can't see the evil in that.
More content is more happy customers, right?

Because of the DLC we now have, when the first expansion pack arrives, as many civs to play with as any civ game ever had including all their expansions!
And hopefully even more DLC and expansion packs after that :) I'm confident we'll get both.

More content, more choice (one can choose to get DLC, or not, and which ones), more happy people, right?

I like the DLC also. It was nice to have a small addition to the game every 2-3 months when it was coming out. I'll predict now that if/when Firaxis/Take 2 announce a second expansion and (in Civ fashion) the Gods and Kings civs will be included, there'll be people who will say they feel ripped off at that point. It happened in Civ III and in Civ IV. Personally, I won't feel that way, but each to their own.

Me too :)

Right! At least I will be and many friends of mine as well :D

Any guesses when we can expect for the first G&K themed DLC release? Right about same time as exp. release or even a couple weeks before that? I hope there will be a DLC release to accompany the exp. release and we will get second DLC about a month from that (pretty much same way Babylon and Mongolia were released).

I have to admit, I didn't like the DLC model at first, but now I've completely changed my attitude, and think it's good... more of the same, please Fraxis!

This game, with all the excellent patches and this XP, is getting better and better, and I too, hope and expect a second XP. I said at first that civ V had potential, although there was a long way to go... well, imho, it's really getting there with this XP!
