So, uh, how do you use the tuner?

Let's start with something simple like placing a unit on the map. I have the tuner open with the game, it's on the map tab, I have the unit I want to place selected, and I checked the "unit plopper" box. Now what?

(Note: for reference, the first steps are to find config.ini (in My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5) and change EnableTuner from 0 to 1. Make sure you have the mod tools installed. Open up both Civ V and the mod tools -> Fire Tuner. Note that setting EnableTuner to 1 disables your ability to get achievements.)

Just start clicking around on the map, it places the units when you click. (Same goes for the other 'plopper' options -- click around in-game to add the thing.)

For me it doesn't. :/ Can you think of anything I might be doing wrong?

For comparison, I can get the add one of every unit to work just fine.

Edit: Aha, now it works! Apparently the trick was to try the same thing three times, closing the tuner and Civ V in between each time.

Edit2: Upon further investigation the problem was alt-tab issues, which sometimes happen with the DX10-11 version. I.e. even if the unit plopper wasn't enabled my clicks wouldn't have been doing anything. A solution I found is to Ctrl-Alt-Delete away, open the task manager, and then alt-tab back in.

If it's a problem in DirectX 10-11, you might wanna try downgrading to 9.0c.

Thanks, I've tried both and I still check both every now and then. I think 10/11 may still work a little bit better.

Only one way to find out…

Try both!!! Play a bit more ;)

It's a stock phrase, y'know

Wow, just got the Tuner running today, it's too cool! Now I see why they made it so CiV stays fullscreen and responsive while using a second monitor at the side! Two monitors are gonna be a must if the Tuner can't be seen from within the game itself as it seems to be.

Anyone figure out how to add an actual 'Terrain' tab to the tuner? I'm kinda surprised it didn't come with one...

Tuner is fully moddable, but possibly we need to wait for the source (haven't tried to mod it, so don't know if it is LUA or C++ built). So Terrain can be added, but I don't think anyone planned on changing the map on the fly, you are intended to use worldbuilder for custom maps, then start a game and use Tuner to modify as you go.

I am surprised people play fullscreen + Tuner. I have 2 monitors, but still prefer windowed + tuner.
