So what language do you speak?

Pascal (Delphi), Python, SVB/VBA (due to working with Statistica) and we somewhen had C++, but can't say i could do anything with that. Sure also worked with MySQL, but wouldn't count this into here.

And i hate everything which has to do with web techs. The weird mixture of HTML, CSS, DOM, Javascript, PHP and everything you could add there is imho really awful, that doesn't look like a concept, more like if they were weld together without any concept.

And in the next months probably i'll probably learn another language, depending on the future job.

Why hate Matlab?

I had already learned Maple in high school, and for what I'm using it for Matlab is basically a clunkier version of Maple with harder-to-edit graphs (and friggin' ugly default settings). It also has all the advantages of reminding me of one of the worst semesters of my life, so there's a traumatic value associated with clicking on its icon.

I am fluent in Java and my C/C++ is a little rusty. I'm also fluent in VHDL and SystemVerilog/Verilog, but I don't know if those count as "programming languages" because they are HDLs (Hardware Description Languages).

BASIC, but like my Spanish, little-used and only vaguely recalled.

I think they don't count (HDLs) as if u aren't an hardware guy, your chance of writing some synthesizable code are slim :mischief:

C/C++.

I also know enough C# to knock up an app.

Learnt a bit of LISP for giggles and did Pascal at school.

Used to do a bit of VB6 as well for testing COM/ActiveX controls.

VB.net is just C# with stupid syntax ;)

EDIT: And I taught myself Z80 assembly a couple of years ago. Totally useless these days.

Not if you're an MSX fan! Which I suspect you are, because AFAIK there are few other reasons to learn Z80 assembly. :)

Nah, I rewrote Manic Miner on a Spectrum emulator and speeded it up by about a factor of 2. Never did finish it...

EDIT: All the levels were in (and with a considerable space saving), you could die, and sound effects/music were in, but you had infinite lives, no score, and there was no title screen or game over sequence.

EDIT2: Here's a link to a snapshot http://www.mediafire.com/?0g5zqmntwyt

You can play it on a Spectrum emulator. You might have to do RANDOMISE USR 32768 to run it, can't remember. Probably not since it is a snapshot. Don't press the A key - that exits to BASIC.

I'm bored at work, so I'm gonna write up a list of all the ones I have at one point been fluent in. Including scripting languages too

C, C++, Java, Javascript, PHP, ASP, ColdFusion, SQL, Lisp, COBOL, Pascal, Tcl/tk, actionscript, basic, Qbasic, Perl, Assembler, Scheme

I don't remember any others.

COBOL??? Why???
