Who's this Brian fellow? I didn't save the kid in the tree, I think my only party members were myself (named Jesús), Michael (the medic from the mansion), and Lev (the survivalist at the factory). Ended up going to prison -> mall -> island. In the end, I was only slightly wounded (took two bad falls, I think my leg was effed up), and Lev was in pretty bad shape--he was next on the sacrifice list. I was a paramedic/hunter, which I figured were the best skills for survival.

Yes, Justin is in the tree. He's whiny and useless. I thought that he lead you to Facebook dude, who is presumably useful, but apparently you can meet him without Justin. Brian is the gun-slinging farmer, and Kayden is a kid you meet at the mall who saved my butt trying to get to the wharf.

I was able to get the Facebook guy without Justin/Kayden, which looks like the right move. I never ran into Brian, guess you had to find the farmhouse to find him. I went to the mall after trying to go to the prison, and the named people were Mary (or Maria, I forget), and this kid named Eric. Didn't take any of them, though, they were zombie food.

There must be different versions. In mine, Justin was having a fight with Brian in the jeep before we got to the mall, and Kayden was the kid in the mall who ran to get pharmaceuticals for people.

I took the car, that explains why I didn't find him.

The kid in the mall was named Eric in my run-through. I had to explain triage to him, and that some people are zombie food.
