Well Somalia Fought Ethiopia in 1976-1979, but was driven back by the Communist of Cuba and Russia! U.S.A helps Somalia in the war by providing logistical data of ground troops and motorised transports! Eventual Somalia was crushed by the overwhelming force of the three combined communist’s forces!

In conclusion Somalia say’s the region belongs to them and not the Ethiopians!

I think it shoudl be given to me actually; it woudl make more sense then giving it to Somalia, or better yet, let Ethiopia keep it. (thi spost was criticle of ethiopia giving anythign to anyone, mainly because Ethiopia kicks ass; its current economic, and agricultural trouble are teh ****ty, but its got a great ancient, and medieval history going for it)

Can I just say that the population of Ogaden is mainly ethnic Somalians it would make more sense for it to be given back to Somalia then for it to belong to Ethiopia.It should however probaly be given independence as it was independant before it became a british protectrote.When given its Independece it was anixed by Ethiopia.So independance from Ethiopia for Oganden.Could someone make an extra option in the poll.

The population of Austria is ethnically german, and I don't see too many of us clamoring for the two to be reunited, either. Conversedly, the population of the US of A has very wide ethnic differences in various locations (hispanic areas, afroamerican areas, etc), and I don't see anyone clamoring to break them apart.

Bottom line is, ethnical questions are, by themselves, not enough to just go and force border redrawing. If, at some unspecified point in time, the people of Ogaden DEMOCRATICALLY express a wish to be let out of Ethiopia and/or to join Somalia, let them.

Until such a thing happens, Ogaden should stay right where it is.

And frankly, from where I sit, it seems that Africa has much more important issues to work on than which puny little flag govt offices in the Ogaden region fly.

That wasn't the only arguement Ethiopia still anexed the region when it was independent just like say Poland by Germany in in 1939 or Tibet just now ( I wonder how many people would suport an independent Tibet) so why should Ogaden be subject to Ethiopian rule when it was independent so recently and is now being ruled by a foreign power.
