Some Russian Units

Totally understandable. I've been having verry little if any time lately to do modding, so I feel you.

Hey! I am glad I stopped by here today as I see you have made some nice Russian units! I like the "handgunners" and I always felt that these early gunpowder weapons were oft neglected in CivIV.

Now if I could only find the time to make a "Bakuel Mod" in order to get all that you have made thus far into the game as complete sets.

Thanks for the kind words Acronym2! There will be some more units posted this weekend or next Monday hopefully, if all goes according to plan.

That's good! Having produced few projects of my own, I always look forward to seeing yours. Although, I've been spending a lot of my "hobby" time practicing to draw 3d skins from the ground up along with 3d modeling with the thought that my unit project can likewise be more original.

Any chance of a modern units pack and a naval pack to go with these? I know there are some Russian units out there that could be gathered together to go with these units into the modern age...

I'm afraid not, Healz. Besides a few old requests I haven't fulfilled, I am focusing on ancient, medieval, and renaissance units. Someday I might make some Russian modern units, but it will not be any time soon.
As for naval units, I personally prefer to make humanoid units besides the odd cannon here and there so there probably won't be any ships from me.

Thanks for the kind words Coyote!!

I just wanted to announce that I updated the first post with the last of the Russian units as well as two requests for Capo and pie_at.

@Xyth
I don't know if your reading this thread anymore, but I found enough information on the Chola Dynasty so they will get one medieval unit pack. :D

Thanks Capo, I'm happy you like them!
I am planning on uploading units more often, or at least hoping too anyway.

I plan to do industrial and renaissance Greeks eventually. I'm working on some of the Indian units at the moment.

Great work, Bakuel!

Last update with Russian Great Merchant looks absolutely perfect, however why Camel? Horse or Ox would be much better and more historically/geographically correct.

I would like to use some of your units in my "1492: Global Colonization" mod for CivIVColonization.

Good luck in your work.

Great job! The very first disc chariot CIV has ever seen.... :goodjob: and ancient goes PAE ...
:thanx:

and if the onager (donkey) has its own head:
:deadhorse:

Thanks for the kind words everyone!!

@pie_at
I'm glad you like the unit and that they will work out for your mod!

@KJ Jansson
Well, maybe this is a post-mongolian Russian Great Merchant who is heading east along the silk road to strike it rich, hence the bactrian camel. :p
But I'll see if I can make a pack donkey for him, if I have the time.

Well, as far as the merchant goes, I just assumed that it was an animations thing; a camel moves somewhat differently from a horse/donkey, and the same animation would look weird for these animals.

In reality, most of long-distance trade in Russia would be done by boat along the vast river network (and due to the poor state of roads, especially in spring/autumn), like here:

But if it was done overland, then the likeliest choice would be a horse-driven cart:
