Sons of Mars II

Next turn South Africa will be active in the military arena. My target is TBD at this point and am willing to join in on the fun if needed....

Is it just me or has Enerjak become a Marry Sue nation? It's starting to tread on the boarders of being OP.

Hmm... Japan, Enerjak and Kalmar all look REALLY dangerous.

Is it just me or has Enerjak become a Marry Sue nation? It's starting to tread on the boarders of being OP.

enerjak does have an entire south American continent.

Indeed. Knuckles is a superpower not because he's Enerjak, but because he controls an entire bloody continent and then some! :p

This Enerjak has supernatural capabilities but hardly on par with smacking people with islands like he did in his glory days.

Hmm... Japan, Enerjak and Kalmar all look REALLY dangerous.

Might wanna add the Echidna to that list...

===

Salt, Turkey, Echidna

The Salt Empire knows it doesn't stand a chance in Hell against the Echidnas on the offensive, so reasons it should be defensive so as to not give the Echidnas extra wiggle room.

They do, however, see opportunity in Sicily and send a force to take the unprotected region. An army is built to protect it.

3 9

Albania's hubris leads them to charge the Salt, hoping for an easy fight given their +5 advantage. All that happens is Sicily's forces destroying the Albanians and thus, bringing all of Southern Italy under Salt control.

With that, the people of the Salt Empire join in prayer... many ironically to Enerjak, the same God worshipped by their foes, the Echidna.

The Echidna enjoy a +8 military advantage on a battlefield that's 1-20.

Able to move 4 spots per turn, the Echidna armies advance.

9 provinces is a sting, but hopefully, the trade revenue and foreign aid can make up the difference...

The Turks seek to assert their power, and so, attack the Spanish in Greece.
Spain has +2.

Ottoman troops can move 3 spaces, and so, 11 troops attack.

The Turks lose many, but kick the Spanish out of Asia and also seized Constantinople. They promise to return the Albanian provinces at the end of the war...

It is at this moment, the Echidnas make their move.

The Echidna Republic is Proclaimed!

With the Turkish forces worn down and what few are present being vastly outnumbered and outtrained, Mitre Dimitri IV decides it's time to not just be the head of government, but head of state as well. The monarchy is renounced and the Echidna Theocratic Republic is proclaimed instead - still called the Echidna Empire by many.

The Personal Union is dissolved, and while the Echidnas toast their rep in terms of royalty, why do they care? They're a superpower in the making, dominating both the Turks and Saltines alike. They may not be as proud as Papa Enerjak, but maybe one day that can change...

The Turkish Sultan, reluctantly, accepts this, in no position to force his way upon the Echidnas.

The Echidnas, accordingly, rape taco Arabia.

All Arab provinces are taken for the glory of Enerjak (the God, not the ruler).

16 provinces. 9/16 = Turks; 7/16 = Echidna

252 Army tech; 111 to Echidna
24 Civics tech; 11 to Echidna
180 Econ tech; 79 to Echidna

aww. :(

at least i lost only a grand total of three provinces. how silly of them. but i still have to watch echinda.

however, spain ruling a good half of middle east by area is going to seem... awkward.

Measure of profitability:

Habsburgs - +36 base income
Albania - -36 base income
Slavia - -33.6 base income
Spain - +26 base income
Echidna - +49 base income
Salt - -21 base income
Ottomans - +14.2 base income
Kalmar - +15 base income

Total:

Allied Powers (Albania, Slavia, Echidna, Ottomans)

-6.4 base income

Entente Powers (Habsburgs, Kalmar, Spain, United Empire, Salt)

+56 base income

how is that possible? the allies lost barely any gold, while we made relatively huge gains.

edit: it seems the war is in our favor.

Easy. Every country has different bonuses (Econ tech, commercial)

Well. I've been slightly crippled by some odd dizziness, but I'm okay enough to do this for y'allz.

The Sonic Generations music has healed me. Praise be unto the spiky blue Lord.

Enerjak: Rawr! D< You should praise the spiky red lord instead!

Yeah, because you're sooooo lordly you got beaten by a guy with a potleaf on his head. You haven't learned from the day you first met Sonic it seems...

Turn IX

Turn IX!

Link to video.

The German government has been usurped by militarists, who have struck deep into the heart of Albania and the Pan-Slavic Union. Each side's allies have backed them up, resulting in a massive war that is affecting souls from the North American coasts to the Saharan deserts to the depths of Bangladesh and Mongolia.

While the Entente Powers have done well in overruning the Alliance, it is a mixed bag. The Salt Empire is struggling against superior Echidna technology, while the Olafic Republic has intervened on Slavia's behalf. This war is sure to be long and bloody... but perhaps fruitful for neutrals. The CIS, for example, while formally neutral, is pondering how much it could gain from either side... after all, its obligations were to Albania, which is nearly gone apart from some land it occupied in Austria.

It is a war that will make and break many nations... and a war that no nation will truly be untouched by in such an interconnected world.

Meanwhile, further south, the South Africans have publicly declared they seek more military prowess. Having the world's first and only air force, this is something to be alert of. The African Alliance has built up in preparation for such a thing, but with the senior partner of the Saltines caught up in a war against the Echidnas, it will be up to Kenya, Liberia, and their tiny allies Madagascar and Darfur to hold out against such a menace. But assuming an efficient, profitable blitzkrieg, can Africa hold out?

And what is Flap-Jak up to? Will he be content to rule just one continent, or does he want all six?

Events:

These are small variations that will spice the game up a bit. Each event happens at least once a turn; for the first few turns, there are only positive events, but each one has an "evil twin."

Economic Boom - 2 occurrences

This represents a boost of +50 gold to your income.

Japan and Auralia!

Flawed Research - 1 occurrence

Removes 50 TC from your country! Always targets your most advanced tech, and will be biased against your focus.

Slavia's economy has been hit hard by the war.

Scientific Diffusion

Scientific Diffusion, an event all countries get sans the most advanced. 20% of the most advanced nation's lead on their closest opponent is given to all states as TC.

Enerjak is at Tech 51. Japan is at Tech 45. About 900 in tech lead = 180 TC to EVERYONE.

Casus Belli

N/A

Revolts:

Albania had a revolt - 1 province. Rebels in Hungary seek to rejoin the Austrian Empire! 13 to 12 The rebels retake the province.

Succession:

The Emperor of the CIS has passed away, and his throne narrowly avoids becoming Austria's property.

Superpowers:

There are five categories - Base Income, Trade Income, Provinces, Army Quality, Army Numbers. The states that win in each category are the 5 superpowers.

-Base Income: Enerjak dominates. He's lying when he says unlike Sonic he don't chuckle.

-Trade Income: Due to the war, South Africa has taken Salt Empire's spot as the most wealthy trading nation.

-Provinces: Olaf gets this at 58 provinces due to Enerjak already being a superpower.

-Army Quality: Enerjak and S. Africa dominate at 24 and 20, so Echidna Empire takes the spot.

-Numbers: Centaurium, at 55 units, is on top of the arms race.

Remember that superpowers cannot form PUs, guarantees, alliances, or defensive pacts with eachother.

Notes/Misc.:

Scientific Breakthrough has been replaced with Scientific Diffusion, an event all countries get sans the most advanced. 20% of the most advanced nation's lead on their closest opponent is given to all states as TC.

Enerjak is at Tech 51. Japan is at Tech 45. About 900 in tech lead = 180 TC to EVERYONE. Historical Precedent: Discoveries are grand and there's always an attempt to monopolise them, but they spread eventually; game precendent: it causes advanced nations to pull the crowd ahead with them.

So who is on each side in the emerging war?

ok lets see...

1. Create 6 navies.
2. Create as many armies as you can, preferably in Greece.
3. spend the TC in army tech, getting me to army 16.

now, i have to decide who to attack. get rid of the ottomans or relieve the salt empire?

Entente Powers

Austria(winning), Kalmar(winning), Spain(winning), United Empire(winning), Salt Empire (losing)

Allied Powers

Slavia (losing), Albania (losing, almost elimated), Ottomans (winning), Echidna Empire (winning), Olafic Republic (?)

The CIS is nominally allied to Albania and has given them aid, but with Albania's impending destruction, are due to become a wild card.

Salt Empire has plenty of African allies, but quite frankly, they're terrified of S. Africa and are focusing on them at the moment.

My orders:

No claims.

Half of spending towards armies. Finish the next Civics tech, and spend the rest of my income on Army. One half of the free TCs will go towards Army, and the rest towards Economy.

I'll decide who to attack later.

OK, ninja'd.

Since we have an alliance, am I allowed to send my armies through Prospo's borders? If not, I offer him whatever agreement I need with him to do that.

Then, attack Kalmar.

Alliances count as an automatic military access treaty during any war~

It'd be dumb to not give your ally access by default anyway.

:goodjob: Thanks. I guess I don't need that part of my orders, then.

Olaf goes against Kalmar. He has Army 20 to their beefed Army 20, subsidised by the United Empire. Albania would subsidise the recruitment efforts of its allies(having a useful Agricultural technique), but due to the blockade, cannot reach any of them!

The Scandinavians stock 6 armies in each of their vulnerable provinces, and prepare for the worst.

7 Olafic border forces move first.

Rolls are between 1-25! With both matched point for point.

With Olaf's entry, things go smoother for the Allies... they now have a Scientific friend, and use this bonus to their advantage, giving them far more cash to burn on armies. Assuming Olaf wants to match the fact the United Empire's been giving every one of its allies discounted tech at no charge to the Entente, anyway.

If I don't lose any tech levels by doing that, we'll match the United Empire tech for tech.

In 100% game terms, it just means they give you the cash, you research it at the super-discounted cost, and then give it back to them. Some countries charge for this service, but in the case of a war, NPCs generally do it for their allies for free.
