Pity I couldn't convince Spaceman to vote for you, not that it would have mattered, the game was actually lost today regardless of outcome considering verarde's wog.

If one of us died, we were totally screwed. We could barely get in kills with two of us working together, which is why I so blatantly saved Count Dingdong that one day. The balance (for classes and in general) was kinda not good, but I still had a lot of fun.

gg

Nah, remaining scourge definitely couldn't have killed spaceman. If spaceman protected you, he wouldn't be able to kill anyone actually.

3:2 start of day
2:1 lose on townie to wog, lose one scum to lynch
1:1 lose one townie to nightkill

oh nvm i see what you mean.

I blame spaceman then. :p

Gah. What made you change on the final day!!!

the wogging at the end made it a bit disappointing. The actual outcome didn't matter for the wog since a swordsman/bowman was left, but I expected to wog both dingdong and verarde.

post game comments:

I will not make many right now. I am tired and "have" to do some other stuff I have been neglecting.

Balance

But from the dead quicktopic, the class composition actually turned out pretty strongly lucky, in that a lot of avenues were open. In a game theory (note: I do not know game theory) sense, I still think the 15-19 person game range has the "most interesting" balance. In the 10-14 range there are a couple idealised selections. There probably is for 15-19 too but you get much more a sense of "well, with 3 scum it might be worth trying to do something different...."

There may not be a real good balance to this type of set-up, ever. But this game served it's purpose and was fun for me. Really, I think the pick-your-poison games or "draft" order games need more love. Any variant of this would possibly be less stat-oriented and more focused on draft order of a class. But I have no real intention of that.

I also believe in "organic organization" of the player base. I like the concepts of having people organize into groups to do stuff. The most applicable game was Capo mafia on the org, which I only played once, and I was lazy myself in not trying to really organize people. I have been sucked into NOTW games and stuff with mana orbs and the like that I felt require coordination and organization around a fundamental game mechanic, rather than only organization around people

This game's classes
But, with this game specifically, the functions of the classes were able to be apparent. Even if it isn't balanced, at least the INTENT got displayed. The bowman running around provided the bump needed for an attack on a scourge early on, but limited the stat gain that a swordsman would give (1 sword + 1 bow better than 2 swords). Shaman didn't have a great spot in a game of 10-14 people, but surviving to night 5 as a self-defence mechanism would bring him to 20 def (7.5 + 5*2.5). At least equal to a spearman end-game. And of course, he doesn't have to defend himself, and provides that aura to linger for 2 nights. Visorslash had the opportunity to vig the scum, as he pretty much did attack a scum every night (zack or count dingdong) but had no help. And the spearman obviously have their role, though defenses didn't really turn out to be applicable.

The lynches were impacted by the classes (e.g. lynching king morgan is better than having a scum eat him, as he had +10 ATK available) and the class distribution was spread out enough that serious consideration and planning could be made around the classes. I don't know if townies ever really asked each other who each other were, and the stats were ambiguous that the scum didn't exactly know who was who and what was what (e.g. if there are 11 spearmen, the scum just know that....)

The class diversity also got lucky that the RNG for the player signup list (edited now) was #2 and #9, pulling Zack and Count Dingdong. They were both spearman. That forced a more even distribution of classes by removing them from the spearman pool.

:D After Day 2, when I wasn't around for the EOD (I missed it by about 2 hours... >.>), I figured we were lost. We started off with a disadvantage due to size, and we connected each other really early. I didn't expect it at the start of the game, but I ended up being swamped by work around Feb. 26th, and even prior to that I was distracted by moving and the like. I was able to get on every few days, but by then it was better for me to let Zack do the persuading and just stay in the background, busy and halfway-noticed.

...due to timezone changes, I also lost track of when the days and nights actually ended, which didn't help... >.>

Re: wogging - I would never have wogged. I was checking often enough that I would be able to make a vote every other day at worst. My delay of posting until the end of day was to help push the lynch without giving town much time to think about why I waited so long. :p ((I checked the forum once to see the status and day-end and then waited until near the end to get back on, so my activity status wouldn't give me away too much...))

...I also find it hilarious that, out of the three games I've joined since I got here, I've been a baddie in each of them. I have now been a baddie as many times here as on my home forum (GiantITP). That's crazy... >.>

Add onto that how I'm much better as town than as wolf, and I'm kind of sad that I haven't been able to give a good show here. My life is busy enough that I'm actually not joining any games at the moment, but I may come back once it slows down. In the meantime, I'm glad I won one of these... Thanks, Zack, for a great job, and I'm sorry I couldn't have been more active during the middle there! :D

gj, scum

If we think vote:zack is covering for a scumbuddy why not just vote for him? That way it doesnt matter if it was me or dingdong he was supposedly covering for.

Next time let's listen to me..... :D

right after my death, I was so sure that Visor is scum :cringe:
