Apparently juries in Virginia like E-mal spam about as much as I do. This guy got a 9 year jail senternce for samming, although the judge let him out on bail while the appeals wind through the judicial system. The judge felt that there might be constitutional issues with the law so he's not sending him to prison until the law is upheld, if that's how it turns out.

At the height of his career, he was sending out 12 million(!) spam e-mails a day. Allegedly he made $12 million selling worthless products such as a "Fedex Refund Processor".

they should goddamn crucify that guy!

i know i know, spam is a minor annoyance, but 2000 gajilion annoyances should ad up to a murder or two i say!

a few minutes out of 12 millions of peoples lives, everyday, is a lifetime or 2, isnt it?

he should get 10-20 years

Aye.........

This is why I support the death penalty for all criminals.

It's the spyware companies that need hitting. Does anyone actually care about spam email?
Tick all. Delete.
Not really that much effort.

The thing is a bit exagerated. At most, a fine should suffice; well the best case would be that no givernment try to regulate the internet. We can call spam a plague, but still a risk one takes when navigating. It in itself is not harmful if you know how to protect yourself. The Net is not idiot-proof and just to please some dummy who can't protect his inbox there is the need to give more power to those who naturally "know" how to use it. Plus, punishment will be arbitrary and will be restricted to the United States (which is not the greatest source of spam).

BTW, how much time did the persons responsible for the WorldCom and ENRON crashes get?

Sentence too long. Let's make it shorter and more adequate :

"there wouldn't be many people in h3ppy land"

On the individual level, sure. On the corporate level, where you have a few people that get very upset at seeing email subject lines involving women and various animals and the like, and where the "tick all, delete" ends up costing the equivalent of one or more employee's productivity over the course of a day, there is a bit more than minor annoyance involved (speaking as someone who runs corporate mail servers).
