Spl02: Noob-Party

i've been busy modding(or rather, learning how to mod :p) recently.

i haven't been active on my MLG's either.... maybe i should check them out.

I still have computer and internet relationship issues, but I'll continue. IIRC, I'm up? I've been into the vodka tonight so no cognent post. Does anyone have a current save since the hack?

To summarize, we need a current save, a strat, and some dot mapping; IIRC :crazyeye:

I feel like an abbreviated Rip Van Winkle. I have no feel for the flow and objectives of this game. So, I'll just play...

1752, Turn 386, round one of the rule of Igor the Idiot V.

I examine our relations. Pacal and Mr. Bull are annoyed. The three stooges (Charley, Joao, and Mansa) are pleased.

I examine our (lack of) technology. Yep, we're dumba**es.

I beg for techs from Joao and Charley. Apparently I'm pressing them too hard. Thanks for nuttin' guys. Next time I'll send Guido the Enforcer to break dem legs.

To save some gold, I revolt to Pacafism. I don't plan on build much military this set anyway.

1754, turn 387, round 2 of Idiot V.
GE pops in Aksum. No effin clue as to what to do with him. Procrastinate. mass suicide all the workers on "Workers' Point".

1756,
We come out of anarchy and I MM in my own strange little world and change builds. My goals are science, econ and EP, but not nec. in that order.

1760, turn 390, round 4
Nationalism finishes. Optics begins. Mansa will agree to open borders. He has OR. Pacal won't speak to us. He is organized as well.

I decide to pause for some discussion. I never had one, but I think we may have a shot at an AP victory. IIRC we have to get the AP religion to at least one city in each civ. Pacal is the problem. We need to get him happy enough to open the borders and allow us to get a jewish missionary to one of his cities.

I'll finish this up tomorrow.

Comments?

We need them to be Friendly for us. But there are some underhanded tricks we can try. But hey- if we're going for an AP diplo, anything goes.

I will try and play tonight so long as PFS01 does not take too long.

hm, i managed to play around 43 turns, and crashed after getting us into the industrial era with divine right, turns of research and 2k gold. i'll try and repeat it, but this game is tiresome.

also, we can't win an AP diplo, as we can't spread Christ to Pacal and SB, so we must wait for the UN. In the meantime, I pretty much ruined our relationship with Charles. You have to convert to Christianity to win via SP, right, so, uhh, might as well convert back, right?

So I might get it finished tonight. I dunno how many turns i'll take.

e2: Oooh, guess who just managed to get open borders with everyone.

e: got constitution instead of steel second time round, who cares though

Not in the spirit of an SG, but I played 51 turns.

I may have utilised a dirty trick at the end but I do not think it was required.

The AP diplo victory is cheap, and I dislike it (though i am fair decent at it), but at least the game is over. Thanks to everyone who participated. For the long time this took. Ye gads, we squeaked out a victory on Prince. And Splime, come back >:O

The save, a turn before victory.

SPL02: Score of 29354, Augustus Caeser, Diplomatic Victory (Cheap-style AP) in 1850AD

Thoughts: Our Cho-ko-nu rush could certainly have been better. But after a failed rush on Zara which lasted a long time, we quickly DESTROYED Sitting Bull (who was ahead of us in tech at the end.....), just look at the replay.

I'd really consider it a loss, but at least it was resolved. :)

My question for other is: HOW did we fall so far behind? I didn't participate ebough in the midgame to know. Sorry for my participation levels in general.

I just wanted to bring it home. It was rally dead. I'd be interested to see if you could pull out a space victory though. Some nice brokering opportunities open up with Divine Right and then Millitary Tradition- as I said, I traded my way through up to industrial, but i'm sure better can be done.

I just got tired after ten turns and every city was probably building a useless building of some sort.

I'm glad we finished. Sorry to have been AWOL for much of the game. This took so long for the reasons GF detailed. We also kept too many cities early on. Thanks for finishing Quotey.

Wow! Nicely played out.

So to win an AP victory, you have to get the AP religion into at least one city in each CIV, correct? Oh, and then get them to vote for you of course.

What trick did you use?

Since you don't need to be the APs state religion to get elected as SUPER WINNER, you can court with whatever religion you want (Judaism) and on the same turn, switch into the AP religion to double your votes.

This works because of the order of voting: First it's you, and then the AIs (on your turn). Then the votes are tabulated on the IT, and announced the next turn.

So if you switch before the IT, the AIs have voted for you, and you have more votes. I don't have a save where we are not in anarchy for switching to Christianity, so I can't check how much of an effect it has.
