Chapter 10: Owen ex Machina
After defeating the everyone in Cerulean City I move onwards to my next destination in Vermillion. On the way I come across a wild Meowth, and having heard of their capitalistic abilities I acquire one of my own reasons.
Along the way I battle many roadside trainers but on in particular keeps popping up. Cull is once again challenging me to a battle with his pathetic Caterpie team. Without so much as a struggle I destroy him and take more of his money. I'm assuming he has rich parents, maybe they run a restaurant, laundry mat or nail salon.
Not long after this battle Oddish goes through an evolution and becomes even more bummish. He just sits around stoned out of his mind all day.
Since a small bush is blocking the route to Vermillion's Gym I decide to head down to the harbor and cash in that ticket that Bill3000 gave me. I'm really glad he didn't find out my cell number. Alas the cruise ship S.S Anne is in sight.
Upon entering the ship I dig through trash and ransack peoples rooms for more items while occasionally beating any attempts to stop me with my team. Then I hear the most annoying accent in the world coming down the stairs. Owen Glyndwr. He says some Welsh word and challenges me to a battle. Claiming he has me beat this time.
This guy just reeks of douchebaggery.
The battle begins in my favor as Pikachu wipes the floor with Pigeotto. However it soon turns badly as Raticate uses hyper fang to tank down Pikachu and Pigeotto in quick succession. Meowth and Beedrill get it a shot but fail. Magikarp manages to defeat Raticate barely. But then he sends out his third pokemon Kadabra.
In an attempt to keep the psychic beast from unleashing his mighty powers Gloom puts him to sleep. However he doesn't stay asleep long and proceeds to disable the sleep powder. Then disable absorb. Gloom hits him with poison powder and fights as hard as he can.
It is in vain as one more mighty blast of psionic energy from Kadabra knocks Gloom out and gives Owen another victory over me. Owen then has me thrown off the boat by claiming I was stealing items. I was but that's such a dick move bro.

Chapter 11a: Just Rub It Out Cap't
I return to the S.S Anne in humiliation and decide its time to beef up my pokemon just a bit more. So I smash some more cabins up and make a bunch of grown sailors cry as I steal their items and kill their pokemon. I then head back over to the bridge, hoping Owen is gone, and guess who is waiting? Owen. Trying to play it off as if he didn't realize I was coming. I'LL WIPE THAT SMILE OFF YOUR FACE GLYNDWR!
His Pigeotto and Raticate fall before my pokemon like crack whores begging for a rock. Then comes my old nemesis. Gloom and Kadabra have a short battle in which Kadabra is completely crushed while unconscious. With only a Charmeleon left it is exceedingly easy to finish off Owen once and for all.
After Owen gives me a pep talk about how badly I performed despite getting Lucky he leaves to go beat his pokemon presumably. I head up to the bridge where I find the captain leaning over a trash can. Give him a back rub and he feels all better.
I have a conversation with the captain about how he likes to run over water types when at sea and then he tells me of his hatred of all forms of life. Trees being a major problem of his. I agree and he tells me about a pokemon technique he uses to clear cut forests in his spare time.
He gives me the HM Cut and tells me to go use it on some trees in Vermillion.
I teach Meowth cut thinking he is a kitty and has claws. And kitty's love trees and all things related to destruction so its a common sense match up.
After tearing up the Gym's gardens I realize its about time to face this leader. I read the sign and it gives me a long list of things this guy does and he seems pretty consistent. EQ, he'll shock you into his way of thinking.
