Star Trek unit preview thread

From what I recall, it was cancelled from lack of ratings. Much like the sacred Original Series, come to think of it. ;)

Touché... :D

Mr Khan, one thing you are forgetting, it was fans like myself that got Trek restarted, due in no small part to our love of TOS. I highly doubt you will ever see an Enterprise revival. ;) :D

And one other thing you are forgetting about, TOS was broadcast at 9PM. In the 60's kids were not the spoiled brats they are today.;) My friends and myself could only watch Trek when we got special permission to stay up and watch it. For you see, 95% of children back then were IN BED by 9pm. And I am willing to bet if it had been broadcast at an earlier time it would have had a much larger ratings score.:)

But then again, today it has to have teh kewl gfx to be any good. If all it has is a good story it sux, according to what I have seen in modern Trek fans. :) Look at the last three bombs of Trek movies as case in point.

I am almost done with my Dominion War mod!!!! (and the people rejoice). I have all the tech trees and colony improvements done for the Federation, Romulans, Klingons, and Dominion (and yes each civ has its own individual and separate tech tree, units and improvements; long hours of work let me tell you) I was thinking of exculding the Ferengi and the Breen from my first version of the mod too speed up release time. The reasons being is that the Ferengi didn't really play a huge role in the Dominion War (except trade). the breen did play a role but only a minor part due to their attack on Earth and their Energy Dampening Weapon used in the latter part of the War. It is rather diffulcult to do the tech trees of them both cause there is not a lot of CANON information about them, only off handed remarks and a few episodes here and there.

I want your alls opinion. Should I include them or not? I know a lot of people here like the Ferengi and are amazed by the Breen secretativeness, but to add them would delay the release of my mod a few more months (Im a full time college student and a loyal Wal-Mart Employee). Any and all opinions are welcome and I deem nessecary.

Thanks for your alls patients wit me on my first time making a mod (its big too on a 300*300 map)

Chow sum

I think you can still include the Ferengi. I finished the Ferengi fleet not so long ago and it should not be too much work to include them if you won't make a separate tech tree for them (Ferengi steal and buy techs from everyone anyway... :D)

After a short break making other units, I'm back at Star Trek. Today's harvest: the Bismarck battlecruiser, Burke frigate, Destroyat transport and Federation Dreadnaught...

Flamand, You might need to upsize the DN to at least the size of the Battlecruiser. That one you never showed me today.:D

:nuke: Cheers, Thorgrimm :nuke:

Could you give me a list of increasing sizes? I'm not too familiar with those military ship classes...

Lol, the list is from largest to smallest.:D

Battleship
Dreadnaught Same size as DN is the Fed Carrier
Battlecruiser
Heavy Cruiser
Light Cruiser
Destroyer Scout is the same size as the Destroyer
Frigate
Patrol Ship
Fighter

Escort versions are the same size as their base hull. Example, ECL is an Escort Light Cruiser, and a DDE is a Destroyer Escort.

Freighters can come in all sizes, depending on their cargo tonnages.

Now since this is an all encompassing mod, and not focused on one era, we will not go into variants of hull sizes, like the CC or Command Cruiser.;)

Flamad, I have the Tmp and Tng era Fed fleets all converted. That should be all the Fed ships we need. Unless when you get them finished you want to add more just for grins.:)

:nuke: Cheers, Thorgrimm :nuke:

Thanks! The grins will be mainly barbarian I guess. Better start storming some brain... :)

Here are the Mars battleship (4 nacelles!! seems like a ship designer was compensating for something ), the Napoleon carrier and the Texas light cruiser.

PS: Thor, before you give the remark that the Napoleon is too large compared to the BB: I tried various sizes and this is the best one not to make the carrier seem out of proportion (saucer, nacelles, etc...)

Flamand, The CV looks great. No worries my friend.:D

As for the Mars Class, it massed so much tonnage it needed four nacelles to move that amount of mass. IIRC it weighed as much as four Constitution Class Heavy Cruisers.

:nuke: Cheers Thorgrimm :nuke:

Today's batch: the Gagarin scout, Thunderbolt Patrolship and the Tomcat fighter.

They slice, they dice, sweep the floors without asking and are really handy to have around the house... :p

Edit: Thor, could you post the names the remaining TOS ships and a list of the TMP ships while you're at it? :)

That depends: how special? :) Do you have a model?
