Star Trek unit preview thread

Hi Volbound. I think these questions would have been more appropiate in the thread of the ST mod, but oh well... ;)
It is hard to make a list like that because in the various series they never had really had any full scale wars with each other, only skirmishes with the Romulans/ Klingons/ Cardassians when the various Enterprises make a "wrong turn" somewhere... ;)
I would say the Feds, the Romulans and the Klingons are about of equal military strength, otherwise the Klingons would have invaded either one long time ago. Cardassia seems to be smaller and weaker, judging by the Klingon invasion in DS9. The Dominion and the Borg are of course stronger than all four combined. And there is a lot of fan fiction trying to decide which one is stronger of these two... :D
The new version of the ST mod will have many more races to play with and various scenarios based on the different series. Resources are difficult to find, but that will probably change in the next version.

Hi Flamand, good to see you back for the ST Mod.
I still have to send you the files for the Vulcan Fleet, which I still have to complete/rework (I was quite busy with other stuff till lately). In addition I will add the Andorian fleet files, which are also to be done. For now I have some spare time left, and if you need some assitance on the Mod, I will gladly help.

Thx Flamand. I was under the impression that the Federation was the strongest because in DS9 the Dominion and Cardassians are obsessed with them as the main enemy and at times the Dominion people(can't remember the Vorta guy's name) say that they are at war with the Federation and leave off the Klingons.

This was what I assumed
1. Federation
2. Klingons
3. Cardassians
4. Romulans
5. Breen

However if you watch DS9 on Spike then stick around to watch TNG which i do sometimes when I am really bored(not big TNG fan) you will see like rogue races dominate the Enterprise and be way more advance then Feds when in DS9 it seems like outside the five listed above their are no other great races in the alpha quadrant. The Dominion seems to be stronger then any of the ones listed above but not much stronger then the Federation because the Federation held their own against the Dominion and Cardassia both in DS9. I hate the Borg because they look stupid and make Star Trek dorker(is this a word) then it is but I do believe the Borg will dominate everyone including the Dominion because 1 Borg ship about wipes out the entire Federation Fleet. It gets confusing though about who is who and what is going on in the galaxy because the tv shows don't explain it well outside DS9.

the Dominion also continue to state the Federation later on and leave out the Romulans and Klingons. The Federation also seem to lead all the expeditions (notable Sisco who is just a Captain which does not make sense why they have a Captain leading fleets and not an Admiral. After all he did Sisco should be an admiral.) I would assume the Federation would be stronger because they are made up of many races (like the Vulcans, Humans, Trills, Betazoids, etc.) while the Klingons are just the Klingons and the Romulans just the Romulans.

O btw threeds for my scenarios were u can dl them. I put a lot of emphasis on historical accuracy (that is why I hated the Rise of Rome scn for Conquests which had Persia empire still in existance at time of Rome lol as if Alexander the Great never existed)

@volbound1700:
I do not plan to destroy your illusions about a mighty Federation, Star Trek is just a TV show anyway. But then, you seem to struggle somewhat with the perspective of the things that occurred in DS9 and in TNG as an aftermath for you. Though the Federation has doubtlessly quite a number of assets that might allow to quote them as the major driving force in the alpha quadrant, they are far from superiority. In fact the are heavily depending on the two other major powers of the alpha / beta quadrant, which still have to be the Klingons and the Romulans. Though control of reknown space and technological advance might shift from time to time, nothing has yet unbalanced these three major powers in the alpha/beta quadrant. Neither the Klingon civil war, nor the Dominion war, and for sure not the Nemesis incident.

Do not forget, that quite everything that you see in the Star Trek show, is told/shown from a Federation perspective, and not at all from the view of the klingon or romulan empire, or any other faction. It gives a good view on the things that are going on in the quadrant, but once again, the relevance of those things is heavily linked to federation politics.

If one would long to make up a list regarding power in the alpha/beta quadrant, he would have to restrict it to military options only I guess.
Even then, it would be pure speculation, but it would be a little different from your assumptions.

1. Klingon
2. Federation
3. Romulan
4. Breen
5. Cardassian

This would be my post Dominion war "guess".

vol, maybe you could put your scenario links in your signature so then everyone can get them more easilly :)

Ok, I might make a Star Trek scn and it will be based after all the series/movies. I am not a unit or graphic creator so would you guys mind if I used some of your units and stuff?? Thx for answering my questions I was always curious to who the races were an which is more powerful and stuff.

My thoughts for one of the future events may go against Star Trek I am not sure let me tell you what it is.

After the Dominion War most of the region(quadrant) was left in ruins. Half of the population of Cardassia was killed and the planet was left in ruins, Gerak from DS9 was elected leader of the New Cardassian Union due to the fame he earned from aiding Dumar in assualting the Dominion HQs and the rebellion. Gerak and the Cardassians have taken a more humble role of rebuilding their Empire and avoiding war at all cost. They surrendered most the Neutral Zone (disputedd worlds) back to the Federation or other powers. Worf and Martoc practically run things in the Klingon empire which is facing economic depression and loss of manpower due to two massive wars against Cardassia and the Dominion. The Klingon Empire is falling behind economically and Technologically. The Dominion ceased to exist after the War as the Founders gave up in their insane quest for Empire leaving millions of Gem Hadar without purpose scattered throughout what once was the Dominion. The Borg too have been weaken tramatically due to the conflict with Voyager and that speices (can't remember number). This leaves the Federation as the main player and the Romulans as the other strong empire. Bajor joins the Federation. (Here is were the story begins)
An ambitious man named Captain Jason Redeker fought under Sisco and stormed Cardassia during the Dominion Wars. The wars left a mark on him and many humans throughout the Federation. Many humans saw their worlds occupied, their homes destroyed, and their families and comrades killed. Redeker is a fan of history and of great leaders like Alexander, Napoleon, and Caesar. He wishes for himself to one day dominate the human race as they did. He begins to question the ideals of the Federation and believes it is time to take advantage of the weakness of the other races. He gathers a large following of comrades who fought in the war and are disillussioned with Federation diplomacy. They believe it is time to attack the Klingons and Cardassia and eliminate all threats to humanity. They take control of several ships and three planets in Federation space and openly rebel. Civil War breaks out but Redeker's force is far too small to win a Civil War. He is a genius of a military tactician and destroys a much larger Federation Fleet using suicide ships and cloak and dagger tactics. Knowing he cannot win the war, Redeker withdraws his Federation fleet to Terak Nor and goes through the worm hole. The formal lands of the Dominion are ripe for a conqueror and Redeker can build his force here. Millions of Gem Hadar will be recruited in his force and he will combine Federation and Dominion technology to build a new military empire and wait for his time to strike. He buys time by making an uneasy truce with the Federation which gives him the breathing room to attack what he considers to be the real threats to humanity: The Klingons, Romulans, Breen, and Cardassians. He will build a New Human Empire modeled on the ambitions of Rome, Greece, and Napoleonic Europe. Can the Federation stop Redeker?

That was my idea because after all humans are emotional, ambitious, prideful, arrogant, and violent.

Doesn't sound very Trekky to me...

Too much war.. not enough Babeliens.

Doesn't sound very Trekky to me...

Yeah maybe so but then again the whole point of star trek civ III scns is to fight wars i guess.

Anyone is free to make his own screnarios as soon the mod is out of course... ;)

Lol Stormrage, this would be mind blowing. In fact, the federation wouldn't believe in what they see, and would probably think it to be some kind of Ktarian illusionary game. Thus, they would be blown away, hehe, simply by disbelief.

@Volbound1700:
Though its up to you, how you make up the story for your Mod, I would reconsider some of your ideas, which clearly have potential. Concetrate on one kind of scenario-concept, like the civilwar for example and don't get it too complicated. Though Civil War in the Federation is not impossible its still very unlikely, especially with this kind of human vs human civil war. I bet either way, this guys movement would end up like the maquis. Maybe you head for another major force and apply your civil war concept or play it out otherwise and let the driving members of the Federation (Andorian, Vulcan etc.) break away from it. An emphasis on the Klingon Civil war, would also be quite interesting.

You could also pick up the Scenario Ideas from Camelot, and make the scenario more Trek alike, with a few ships for each major power going for some special item/technology/whatsoever, that is hidden somewhere out in the universe.

I could perhaps tell you if I knew what a space Waaagh is... Care to show some pics?

Now that is a cool idea: Captain Arthur from the Camelot system... :lol:

@Flamand:
Well thats easy to do, look at Storms avatar, and you get glimpse of what a Waagh! is hehe. Basically nothing but a horde of Orcs, that has miraculously made the step to be a spacefaring anoyance (aka Pirates).

Iz somefin like diz:

Well, the Quest for the Grail ain't over yet. Why shouldn't it continue in the next generations! I personally wonder, why Paramount never send Kirk for a Mission like that, though the ST Movie V was quite close to such a thing IIRC.

@Stormrage:
Well is that head hanging on the belt of the Waagh not Crewman #5 or so?

@Flamand: Give Thorgrim a bumb, to accept my aplication to his board. Else we will have to keep up Mod-discussions here, which is also ok for me. At the moment I am trying to get the rights for some grafic usages for the mod. This would mainly be ressource icons/images, which I would love to implement into the Mod. Instead of Dilithium 1 to 5, we could add Deuterium, Iridium, Tritanium etc.

True Mr. Universe material, you can tell :D
