Really.....! Were they in the movie? I thought the tie defenders were prototypes or not many had been developed. I thought I read that they were not ever used (before the fall of the Empire) because if they were they would be too big an advanatage, since they were the first ships with shields, and the Rebellion never would have won. Weren't they used only after the fall of the Empire (remnant)? Am I wrong? If I am I could someone tell me what book they got their info from... I'm just curious. I'm no Star Wars expert....please correct me if I'm wrong.

Just want clarification, thats all....

Tie Defenders where never put into mass production for a veriaty of reasons.

One was due to a rebellion by one of the Imperial Navy's Admirals who distroyed the factorys they were being produced at (As detailed in the Tie Fighter game, and mentioned in some books i dont know the names of)

Another was that for the cost of 1 Tie Defender you could build an entire squadron of Tie Fighters or Interceptors. (See verius technical books)

But most important of all, the Imperial Navy didnt trust its pilots and had no regard for pilot survivorbility. After all, for every downed pilot, they had an entire planetary populations willing to replace them.

Just a small request. The one thing that still annoys me with this mod, is the graphics. Not the terrain, that's pretty good. It's the fact that Coruscant looks like New York, and that the Pirate Cartels launch their ships from straw huts.

Can someone please make some cities and pirate bases? What's needed is below:

(American) Republican = Coruscant style buildings. Quite tall.
(European) Imperial = Plain, grey coloured buildings. Not so tall, but still tall.
(Middle Eastern) Nubian = Pretty buildings, a lot of plants.
(Roman-Greek) Ancient = Use your own judgement.
(Far East) Barbarian = Use your own judgement.

(Barbarian Hut) Pirate Base = Like a hangar or something.
(Goody Hut) Small Outpost = Just a single Star Wars building.

I've been thinking about the balance issue, and I came to the conclusion (IMO) that if you want the Civs in the mod to be like their counterparts, they simply can't balance as well as we're trying to get them to do.

Sure the Confederacy, Old Republic, Naboo, and Trade Federation are about equal, but that's not so once you hit the Empire.

The Empire's stormtroopers and TIE fighters were decent to say the best, and were cheap to make, so they could be mass produced to shield deficiencies, the Star Destroyers, especially the Executor, Sovereign, and Eclipse-classes, were pretty much THE capital ships. More effective fighters like the TIE Interceptor, and to a greater extent the Defender, were much more expensive to make, since they required more resources. Then, of course, you had the Death Star.....

The Rebel Alliance was mostly starfighters, and I'm sure everyone here can agree that when you think of the main fighting tool of the Rebellion, everyone can name the X-wing. The Rebels could crank out X, Y, B, and A-wings like nothing, and the starfighters were excellent in their own ways but the Rebels suffered from a lack of capital ships (Mon Cal MC80's weren't in infinite supply), which made their fighters so effective that if utilized in the right numbers, could outdo VSDs, ISDs, SSDs, and ESDs, not to mention the Death Star itself.

The New Republic would pretty much be the Rebels with a somewhat increased capital ship capacity (they still had some nagging problems in those areas), with the MC80B's, MC90s, Bothan Assault Cruisers, and maybe the capacity to build 2 SSDs(they did have Lusankya and Guardian). Their starfighter capacity would be increased with the E-wings and perhaps an XJ upgrade of the X-wing

The Imperial Remnant would just be a depleted Empire

The Chiss would be basically defense-minded, but if you attacked them, they could hurt you badly, so their units would be a pretty good mix of attack and defense

The Yuuzhan Vong would simply be like the Empire, except without Death Stars and unwilling to retreat.

To me, the best part about a Star Wars mod would be trying to win the game using each group's particular stregnths, instead of perfectly balanced Civs, which to me would be sort of bland:-x

DonStamos, you've won my vote. I reckon you've got it right, and I reckon we give this a shot.

I did my best:)

Here is some more info on the Defender.

And here is some more info on starships.

Here's a B-Wing I've pieced together. It was made by using the Cut'n'Paste method since I don't know how to model. It looks pretty decent for a start.

Nice Job

I just posted the Noghri Death Commando and now I'm working on this:

@Chris85, I believe there is a B-Wing in battlegrounds, if you wanted to use that.

As for the unit balancing issue, I think all civs should have a fighter, a heavy fighter, heavy mech, etc. But, I think for different Civs, there should be certain techs that will give the Rebels more fighters or the Empire more capital ships, or something like that. What do you thinks of this idea?

They all should have different strengths and weaknesses but the thing is none should be so extravagant that the others can't win.
By the way I dont know much about the ship I'm making does it have any weapon's or is it just a transport?

The ship you are making is a bulk transport, which has no weapopnry. It can carry many units into battle, and has tough armor. (According to Star Wars Supremacy/Rebellion)

Oh yeah, Sheephead is currently working on a alpha version of Galactic Civil War. Hopefully there should be some screenshots of his work tomorow.

There is now a patch for The Clone Wars, v0.301b, that fixes the labels.txt, the Sith Apprentice icon, and extends the unit construction times. This makes the game slightly harder.

I would post the screenshots, but i dont know how to. Any help in it would be much apprciated

Sorry

The site I got the model from just said it was a starwars transport. I dont know exactly what type it is.
