it's already taken by MattyB2

amen, check this thread for an idea of how to play an NES.

Specific rules are on the first post of this thread.

A timeline going to around 500 i think is also on front page, but it isn't updated since then so you might want to read that, and if you're really into the game, read from [url].

Byzantine is taken by mattyb2. On the front page is also a world map with nation names, tho it is a bit outdated. If you need a name for a nation, PM me and describe the one you need to know, or contact me on aim, yosemitehker is my sn.

sorry to go so OOC Jason, but me and amenhotep are fair friends :)

@Amehotep- good to see you come into one of these games- I stronglly urge you to talk to some of us over IM before you make your final national choice- its th ebeginning fo the middle ages, and there is a lot of expansion into NPC (Non-Player Character) nations right now...

(handy tip- its probabley best to stay out of europe, I'm new to the game to, andjoining as Rome has caused me all kinds of griefe, though it is rather fun in the long run, learning on the go in this sort of thing probabley isnt the best choice there is really...lol)

anyway, what ever nation you choose, have fun!

(and yes, all of the old Greco-Roman nations of good value have been taken, I would suggest venice, if I didnt have eminent plans to re-incorperate it back into the Roman republic where all the other itallian states are no more or less...and yes, it is the middle ages... but how history can be so different in one of these games is definatley part of the fun)

I can't carve out any borders? Perhaps I revolted against other nations?:( Ah, well. I suppose, then, if I can't carve out my own borders for Byzantium, I shall take up the reigns of the Ottoman Empire. And if that's taken, I'll be the Mongol Empire. :)

Is there any particular post format I need to register?:)

The current world
I´m pretty sure that you can´t take the Mongols and there aren´t any Ottomans yet. The big red blob over Turkey is Muscovite which is a permanent NPC (cant be taken). The Light Blue nation in Georgia is Georgia, the yellow one is Syria (christian) and the Green one is Sumer(taken). Not very ottomanish.

The Rules
Important!

The player nations
These nations are already taken.

NPC nations
Since there isn´t much room for a new civ i suggest taking one of these.

Old World map with nation names
Much has changed but some nations are still the same.
These are some of the new nations in europe.

In France: Brittany, Andorra, Lorraine, and Provence.
In Iberia: Toledo, Andalusia, and Douro.
In Italy: Naples and Calabria.
In Central Europe: Holland(taken), Hamburg, Germany, Prussia(taken), Switzerland(taken), and Venice
In Greece: Sparta(taken), Athen, Macedonia, Thrace, Byzantium(taken) and Georgia

Then what's that big gold splotch in Turkey/Mid East?:hmm:

I think it's Syria, if you're looking at the yellow one... The yellow-brown one just above it I couldn't tell you...

I think that was Byzantium, but tossi accidentally said Muscovy was in Turkey :p

Byzantium which is taken by MattyB2.

If you want something in that area: Syria sound cool to me since they are the only christian nation in that area. Macedonia, Thrace and Georgia might be worth a try too, but they all are in danger of being attacked by the two player nations of that area (Byzantinium and Sparta).

In Asia there is always some room same for Africa. Europe is a dangerou place but i guess its funny over there.

Azale i said it is over turkey ;).

No, I'm talking about the brownish-y yellow above it. Isn't that Ottomans?

Edit: O. Ah, well... I suppose I'll just take... Egypt?:)

note- I stronglly suggest staying the hell away from italy ;)

no, that is the Byzantine empire

How about Macedon, its atleast a nation away from Sparta and Byzantium and in that time you can make yourself allies and prepare for anything :D

Or Denmark... Is Denmark good?:)

Edit: If Denmark or Egypt is already taken, I'll be Macedon.:)

Very small, only the little island that has Copenhagen. It can grow, but will need allies and a good strategy.

A nice challenge though.

Denmark is occupied by Sweden (azale) and Egypt is occupied by Portgual (erez)

Good luck with Macedonia.

EDIT: Oh i though Copenhagen was Prussian. Sorry.

EDIT2: These are your stats. I wonder why Matty is the leader since he already plays as Byztanine. I guess It´s a mistake.

Denemark is the small island called cofenhagen.
The left overs of Egypt are a country called Napta, Pink I think bellow the big green Egypt wich is Portugal. Denemark much better but in a bigger risk, or not?

Macedonia is open but not the strongest choose...

May I suggest taking an eastern europian power? or a more southern african, or asian, but europe is most advanced by technology right now...

Get AIM or MSN or ICQ or somthing and talk to me or jason or somone (AIM is for all, but I also use many other softwars) and all in all you will get the picture fairly fast...

Now may I suggest maybe waiting to the newest update befor joining? That you will see an after this turn map? cause some countries are under attack...

I actually agree with ereze, though I would rule out eastern europe, basically because Poland, and Byzantium, and potentially sparta will be looking to expand in the area, poland especially because of the german allince or whatever it is called...

denmark is quite small, and is surrounded by the large, stron Sweedish, and Finish nations, as well as a germanic nation or two a little south... generally, its best to exand against non-player nations rather then played nations...
