Rome
Rome had begun as but a small settlement on the River Tibur, anf now, now it was perhaps the most vibrent community in all of the italliot peninsula, oh yes thought Regulus, current elected king, Rome was destined for greater glory then to be controller of little latium which it had now...
Regulus looked upon the city, and reflected upon it for a moment, he had been elected king by the nobles of the city and the surrounding areas, which certanlly gave him a stronger abse of power then just being a herditary heir, of which he was in the line of Romulus anyway, but it had always been the Roman tradition to do things more fairlly then it seemed the peoples around them were willing to do, but then most of the peoples around the penesulua were arranged in little city states, cultured- not like the barbarian tribes to the far north- but weak, well, most of them- the Etruscan league, and union of the 12 strongest etruscan citites wasa powerful force in the peninsula, and one that Rome had to be wary of, and yet also needed to look upon for inspiration, as innovation, even if it was by ones current enemys was to to be held in high regard in the Roman mind, and more over, it was thought right that the Romans shoudl attempt to garner that in what has over the Romans, to, if nothing else, even the odds...
but that didnt stop the Etruscans from being a problem to Rome, but Regulus figured he might be able to get the situation his advatge- for many years Romes diplomats had been involved in deligations throught the surrounding country side- that, and limited wars between the city states had all gone in Rmes favor, and t that end Regulus figured that the Etruscans could be added to Rome in much the same way- a mix of politics and war...
it would be first that Romans diplomats woudl treat, despite thier confederation, all the great Wtruscan citites as indipendent entitites, and to that end make treaties and allaiances with them as such, mainlly to help incorperate them into Rome, as each alliance would be forged in a manner that would cumulate in the city being given Roman citizenships, and induction inot Roman lands as an equal, able to send nobles to represetn themselves, and even take part in the election of a king, a most honoured ability in Rome, and a right not to be taken lightlly.
With politics and conquest, divideing and conqoureing, brothership and comrodery, Rome would one day becoem master of the land of bull-calves, Italos, and then, the Romans would would set out to see what there was to see inthe world...
