Nurmafer's Barbarbarians
It had been 400 years since first barbarians set foot on this dusted land. It is incredible how survivors could live in the middle of dust and sand, and even become rich and prosperous nation. Lifeblood of Nurmafer was river Venedil, where all water needed to agriculture was taken. Nurmaferians built impressive watering system, what made it possible to turn sand around rivers to most fertile farmlands ever seen. Their population quickly grew, and they had to start expanding to other areas. From their capital they expanded to every direction, mostly to southeast and northeast. In southeast they claimed more farmlands and in northeast, they followed old road and came to large steppes, which were perfect place to feed their horses. Horsemen who came here were brave and strong, and soon they deserved their place as elite soldiers of Nurmaferian armies. These men won many battles fought with strange cult in the east. No one knew where these strange people came from, but when they came, they always wanted to kill and slaughter. But never their might was able to defeat brave Nurmaferian warriors, and cult was always pushed back to where they came.
Allthought these small borders clashes occurred every now and then, Nurmaferians lived in peace. Their small nation traded with dwarves in the mountains, food to steel. Sometimes traders got gold from dwarves, as token of friendship. Unfortunately, 150 years ago, small dwarven population in the mountains got killed by same cult, which had been waging wars with Nurmafer. This was revenged, as horsemen of the northern steppes killed the cult's army which had done this. From now on, Nurmaferians had to mine their own metals so they established small mining colony to western mountains, using the old dwarven mines. Soon their skills in mining and smithing were almost as good as dwarves. Last 50 years have been relatively peaceful, and population has grown fast. People of Nurmafer are now looking to their king Deworfanius to give them more lands to farm and live in. And they are going to get it.
