Warlord Vysgath looked too the horizon with his keen, deepset eyes. A darker shade of grey materialized out of the thick fog.
"Land!" he roared, in his mighty, rumbling voice.
All around him, Tallasian Seaslayers drew their weapons.
A village on the coast appeared. Just as the map had shown.
"Perfect..."
The ship hit sandy bottom. The Tallasians leapt out and charged at the shore. A guard was killed before he saw what hit him.
Screams and the clang of metal rang out for hours. And then, there was silence once again. The Tallasian raiders were gone. The village was devastated. Shortly afterwards, the main host of Rasgar captured the city without the fight. The dominion of Tallas grew yet further.

About a dozen light years away from the puny nations such as Rondaria and Tallas are the mighty fleets of Ghvorzhin the Conqueror. He who united Grashnar, the capital of his empire, from a dozen warring tribes. He who successfully launched ten interstellar invasions, where in each one his critics claimed the logistics would be impossible. Note that those critics are currently running around headless (fortunately the Grashnarians dont completely rely on their heads like the silly humans, as they have three of them, none with gray matter).
Grashnar contemplated the map of the local star cluster, and his five eyes narrowed as they focused on an unconquered system. The closest one.
And you call this... What, exactly?
Blirigish.

They are still in the Late Bronze Age, if it please mLord.

Some though that a meteor had appeared in the sky when the streak of white light appeared in orbit. Then, when nineteen more appeared, and they didnt go away, people were sure the end of the world was coming. Religious fanatics trashed temples (ironically) in their desperation to make the rest of the world repent on doomsday, while the world leaders struggled to maintain the peace and order.
And then, it all went to hell.
The cruisers in orbit disgorged dozens of torpedoes, which left their side portals soundlessly, but then entered the atmosphere with a screeching sound. As it happened, they were nuclear weapons. As it happened, all the major cities in the world detonated simultaneously.
Then, thousands of little fighters followed, strafing with missiles wherever the bombs had missed, targeting the main military forces of the nations involved. Devastation occurred all over the land, as nations began their slow process to collapse...
And then the ground troops invaded. Attacking every civilized nation in the world, they were all reduced to the status of sometimes eaten but more often worked to death slaves. Congratulations, guys. The end.

A common prayer used by the defenders of the faith.
Ever since the cripple Kharash was given the strength to lead our people to victory against the demon’s and their spawn, all Damarans have worshipped the lord (he has never told his worshippers his true name) and his mortal servant the Emperor.
The Lord is the creator, the protector, and the one true god.
Beliefs
It is believed neither we nor the world in which we live was the first creations of the Lord. The Kingdom of Heaven, which the Lord mentions quite often, is believed to be his first creation it is a paradise he crafted for himself it spans countless miles one could not cross it in a mortals lifetime. But the lord tired of being alone so he created three beings, although they are much weaker then he they far stronger then any mortal, Thornos, Anhur and Sharess the four companions travelled the lands seeking adventure.
But Thornos and Anhur become Jealous of the love they saw growing between Sharess and the Lord and in their spite they slew Sharess and the Lord cast of them out of paradise.
The Lord decided to try again with creation but instead of allowing all his creations a place in heaven he made a new land, a land where his creations could be tested whether they were good people or had a foul heart so he crafted Damara and its people. After he had done this he finally mourned the passing of his love.
But Thornos and Anhur found their way to Damara and sought to reshape it in their image, they had watched the lords creation of our ancestors and they and decided to create their own people, their spawn were mindless savages and they set upon us massacring our people.
It was then that the Lord awakened to the peril his people faced and then when he fused a part of himself with Kharash so he might slay the demons and their spawn.
One set of long held beliefs has recently come under attack, When the Lord spoke through Kharash uttering the words “All the Lords creations have an Immortal soul, when your mortal bodies die you shall be judged before my eyes your soul laid open for me, if you are worthy you shall have your place in the Kingdom of Heaven by my side”.
At the time this was interpreted as only Damarans having a soul, as we are his creations. Outsiders, people from different lands were believed to be demonspawn therefore without a soul, but the Lord did not make a distinction between Damarans and Outsiders.
The Emperor
Because a part of the Lord was fused with Kharash he was able to speak through Kharash and guide his followers and tell them how to reach the Kingdom of Heaven. The Lord can speak through Kharash’s successors as the Lords essence is in their blood, but before the coronation they must fast for five days to purify themselves.
When the Lord speaks it taxes the Emperor greatly he must rest for many days afterwards, the Lord will speak directly perhaps only once during an Emperors reign (the highest recorded amount is four) and the Emperor shall not recall a word of it, this is why a number of priests and scribes are on hand at any given time.
Although the Lord rarely speaks, the Emperor decisions and actions are said to be greatly influenced by his divine spark so they are still held in the highest regard
Clergy
Although the Emperor is the head of the church he largely restricts himself to stately matters, therefore the elder priests will elect a priest for the position of Pontiff also known as Supreme-Watcher. He enforces the church doctrine as interpreted from the Lords words, still largely intact but only accessible by those authorized by the Emperor and senior members of the clergy. Also he has the power to call an inquisition and eradicate sects of the Church who stray too far from the one true path.
Worship
Once the Lord had made his existence known to us with the ascension of Kharash to power, the people began worshipping him in many different ways the most popular was praying and animal sacrifice, but their were darker cults involving human sacrifice (we are unsure how they came to the conclusion killing one of the lords creations was a form of worship).
The differences in worship created problems between his followers but the Lord would not speak through Kharash like he had done in the past; it was not till the early reign of MemnonI (Kharash’s successor) that the lord let his will be known on the matter. The Doctrine that was written down that day is largely intact and only small changes have been made.
The primary form of worship is done at a Church Temple, through prayer. The number of temples present in a community varies depending on how large the community is; if no temple is present prayer is usually done before the midday meal. Most prayers on a specific subject begin with “I pray for the Lord to…” or “I ask for the Lords guidance…” daily prayers consist mostly of praising the Lord and thanking him for guiding the Damaran people down the one true path.
The weekend is where one can purify themselves in a temple, by confessing past sins and evil thoughts one does not succumb to them but allows another to bear the burden.
Annual festivals are held in a number of temples celebrating the ascension of the current Emperor, accompanied by a feast with a great many game, bread, fruits and mead.
Defenders of The Faith
To the common man these soldiers are devoutly loyal to the Church above all else and are seen in many areas of Damara helping to protect small communities from the raids of nomads, aiding the rebuilding of damaged temples or important community buildings.
But what they actually are is the Emperor’s private army, they are either orphans or taken from their parents at a very young age. They will be taught by the older members of the order to believe that the Emperor is an Avatar of the Lord, when the Emperor wants something done the order must be carried out to the letter, undertaken with all haste and their must be no hesitation no matter what he asks of you.
