Strategy Discussion and Guides

I usually read the main thread for a mod to see what it's about, don't know for everyone else though. I don't have a problem with explaining it again if necessary, all I have to do is to link to said post after all.

So I decide to skip a thread whose name implies that it is for modtesters and the creator's use to discuss directions to go with the mod and you find it within yourself to flaunt your Internet "manhood"? Here's a clue: me, the everyday user, doesn't care about having the most bleeding-edge, up to date version of a mod. I'll take the more stable version. You may want to consider re-titling it.

Then again, it shouldn't surprise me. This is the Internet after all, where people can choose to be ****heads about things like this because there are no consequences for their actions.

Wow, calm down.

First of all, I'm posting here for the first time, and it seems you're confusing me with Fresol.

Secondly, both me and Fresol have told you their position completely matter-of-factly, without being sarcastic of even unpolite in the slightest.

Thirdly, I was referring to the thread that bears the title of this mod and isn't referenced as "for modders" at all. In fact, the information you needed is part of an, imo, easy to read FAQ!

Fourthly (is that even a word?), I explicitly said in the post you were replying to that I have no problem with doing people the courtesy of pointing them the right way if they haven't read it.

So, in conclusion, maybe it's you who has problems with politeness on the internet, because you're the only one who brought up this stupid "manhood" thing! Geez.

Don't mind him, he probably suffers from terrible trolling impulses or low intelligence, let's just all pray that he will mature up someday.:)

You know what? I had a long-winded post to go with this but I decided to delete it of my own accord. The only thing I have to say is this:

Thanks for the help, jammer. The one person that actually helped me.

I would love to read your long post. Getting something substantial would've been refreshing. You seem like somebody who doesn't want to admit to an error and likes to take it out on others by claiming the high ground.

I certainly won't kiss your feet to keep you happy, there are enough people who appreciate the community here.

Don't let us delay you on your way out.

Has the Taoism + Confucianism and the Hinduism + Buddhism clash been fixed yet?
If so, I'd like to hear some good revised strats on China & India.

I'd suggest you see my fourth post. Where I say, "If I had seen this, you honestly think I'd've posted?" I admitted I hadn't seen the SVN part of the FAQ. I admitted my error. You want me to do it again so it's directed to you personally? I'm sorry. I missed the part of the FAQ that described the SVN.

I'll try not to sound aggressive, but it's pretty hard to do so when writing on the internet because everything you say can be so distorted by the reader. So I assure you this post has no aggressiveness in it.

1rst : I don't think Fresol used sarcasm, he was only asking Leoreth how the concept of SVN could be made clearer to the everyday-user (as you have described yourself). Even if I'm wrong, he even apologized to you in post #77.

2nd : Your atlas Idea is a good one, and it's already been proposed before (it's somewhere in the DoC subforum), but the new display Fresol showed on the screenshot on post #72 will do exactly that.

3rd : I suggest you download the SVN but keep a back up version of the normal mod somewhere (that's what I do), because it'll be a long time till we have an actual update for version 1.9 while many of the (great) changes are in the SVN version. But do as you like really :)

4th : On post #81, Leoreth was only giving his personal impression, and that he usually went straight for the main post of each mod when encountering a new one. Again, he was being pretty nice, telling you he didn't mind repeating stuff to newcomers.

5th : perhaps you're so used to people "flaunt [their] Internet "manhood"" that you think that's what you're witnessing while it's just a normal polite discussion on a rather polite forum, because frankly there's been almost no trollers/insulting people in here for years.

The SVN version is pretty stable, really. You won't crash every turn by doing it or so, and you get the new features (I think Orthodoxy is not in 1.8, to give you an example).

I personally was more offended by the fact that you leashed out at me for a post which contained a pretty neutral general statement that wasn't even directed at you specifically.

Anyway, I hope we can forget that episode now.

@Tomorrow's Dawn:
Yes, it is. Both combos don't give unhappiness anymore, if the other is state religion. I haven't played China or India since then, so feedback would be appreciated :)

With the Taoism/Confucianism and Hinduism/Buddhism thing, I kind of feel bad for Western civilization...

tycoonmike reminds me of when i first started playing this mod. his anger can be understood because this mod has a steep learning curve and requires alot of time invested to understand many of the technicalitites of the mod. The turks I also had a problem with until the recent SVN patch which showed that not only coastal cities are required for black sea.
The stability maps are hard to understand for a newbie because no good explanation (I had no idea that green is what flips) and are slightly outdated. And iam sure theres a hundred other "technical" questions that myself and tycoon and others would ask but we just dont know where or we forget the question.
As for the SVN version, I was late to download it unfortunately. because the "unstable" scared me away too. but it turned out to be great and perfectly stable and so much better than regular 1.8. so I'd recommend everyone to download it.
I wish things like up to date stability maps, SVN version information and stability information were the first thing a person would see when going on this forum.

You can thank The Inquisition, The Thirty Years War, the Crusades and The Great Schism. :p
The closest thing to religious syncreticism and tolerance in Europe for a
long time was practiced in The Netherlands and the Ottoman Empire.

I will fire up an India game soon, when I reinstall SVN DoC, since my latest update was irreparably messed up.

For Chinese Strategy:

What Tech path do most people use? I end up being horribly behind as China...

I tend to do The Wheel->Pottery->Writing->Mathematics->Fishing->Sailing->Calendar->Bronze Working->Animal Husbandry->Iron Working->Compass

Is there a better one?

Start with Animal Husbandry -> Writing -> Bronze Working.

According to Fresol, you should not self-tech Mathematics (until the Persians spawn) or Alphabet.

^I love Korra too, but I'm trying to get a good screen capture of Asami to replace this Cadance avatar with.

Stopping now before this turns into a Korra discussion :)

Woah Leoreth! You like the new Avatar too? Woot someone else who also likes the show!
Sure! I originally had a Sokka avatar around here, too, so it's back to the roots in some way. Also good too see you've also converted, Tomorrow's Dawn :D

But now we better cut this ;)
