Subdued Animals in C2C discussions

Subdued Crawfish, and Nutria please.

1. What about introduced and invasive animals, Like african bees hitching a ride on ships, or crazy ants?

2. Also what do y'all think about animal migrations?
Could be done with AI patrolling / pathing. A little would probably go a long way, It doesn't have to be much.
I'm big on living world immersion.

We cn only subdue animals for which we have graphics. Even then it takes about an hour to add in a new animal and do basic testing.

There is a mod that has the animal resources up and moving or spawning new versions of themselves which move and settle down. It is for Warlords and did not get much beyond the proof of concept stage. See here.

I am thinking of adding missions to sell subdued animals to the Feather Worker or Poison Crafter for the correct animals. The return would be money but only as much as you would have gotten :hammers: from butchering.

Also I think the Bison , Water Buffalo and Wildebeast should be able to build the Buffalo Jump building.

Enclosure is the correct term for the current practice of housing a number of different animals in one area like in "zoo parks" as well as covering the Victorian style zoo cages and movable cages for circus.

Just FYI & apropos of nothing, I'm in 125BC, just hit the Renaissance, and I'm building the Zebra Trainer, having apparently the first Subdued Zebra anywhere in the world...:p

Animal Spawns without Resources

Already DH here are some of my ideas. Let me know what you think.

Unique Feature Spawn Points
Basically add terrain features that would spawn appropriate animals. This is already done with many of them. Basically you could add additional ones for others. Like bison fields etc. These could be scripted into random maps or placed individually on earth maps.

Non-migratory
These would be animals that wonder about without any regulations. Basically what all of them do now.

Migratory
This would be accomplished by coding animals spawned from say a bison field to another bison field. This would create the affect of the bison traveling back and forth along that route. These could lead to interesting gameplay. Say the player maps out the migration route. They can then lay a "trap of hunters" to intercept the herd. You could also take advantage of withdrawal mechanisms to have the herd run away will possibly gaining a small amount of food/production.

Territorial
This would be used for any territorial animal. Basically would create an invisible border around the spawn point that the animal wouldn't leave.

There was en event like this, when I played v20 or 21, with a plague if insect. But look like this event was removed.

I like the idea and the possible interacion with some animist religions in C2C ^^ Like a Temple of Sebek iy you have the spawning Crocidile terrain feature in City Vicynity or an Eagle totem with Eagle' nest in City vicinyty...
In reality, building like this is more often build because there are a lot of animals near you than because you subdue them

Sorry to come up with this topic but I realize the crocs are still not moving. The Nile Croc and the Kaiman etc are moving though. Can't we use the other Croc Types code for the Large and Small Croc just give them their graphics? Well they would have different spawnplaces than now but at least they wouldn't lie around, especially if you have a scout that has to move trough a chockepoint thats blocked by immobile crocs...

Would it be possible to add those additional spawn terrains to Kaimans/... code that the original Croc has?

I can't quite understand where there is any other different code with the Kaiman on the one hand and the Large/Small Croc on the other??!

Could the immobility originate in a pattern that forbids them to move onto certain terrain or something? Anyhow, excuse me for repeating myself but I'd say just copy the Kaimans code, exchange its graphics with the crocs and then add additional terrains for spawn?

Simple the Camin is the last one to be done and the Large/small Crocs were the first. As I added them I refined their movement and spawning but I was never given the chance to put those changes back to the older versions. There were always more animals to add. Eventually I said enough and just stopped work on the animals while I got a chance to work on captives.

In Subdued Animals I have the following that I have said needs doing.
  • fix the crocodillians
  • balance animal spawns across regions. Especially the southern hemisphere where Earth has huge gaps in the land mass not seen in the north.
  • redo missions/actions to be adjusted for game speed (only one mission done so far)
  • redo returns from kill based on tech same for butchered not in city.
  • add in some new animals

@DH

I was thinking we should have some creepy crawlies too. Note these would need to be shrunk down so not to seem gigantic. But to so small that you cannot see them. Maybe like Pigeon sized.

Some ideas ...

Scorpions
http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=13523

- Black Texture = Jungle Scorpion (Generates in Jungles and Swamps globally)
- Brown Texture = Desert Scorpion (Generates in Dunes, Deserts and Scrub globally)
- White Texture = Cave Scorpion (Generates from Caves globally)

FFH Mod

- Giant Spider = Tarantula (Generates in Desert, Scrub, Rocky and Jungle)

Did the spawning of animals get turn down or something?? I am only in Ancient era and i have hardly any spawning except for the regular big animals??(Antelope, Bison, and quite a few Brown Bears. But not too many of anything else?? Well except those darn eagles (pests):p

Is it maybe because i am close to the Tundra/Ice area's?? But then in my southern regions i should at least have more, right?? Just wondering, not complaining.:)

EDIT: Doesnt the Subdued Ostrich do anything, like making a herd?? Mine doesn't?? Pic 3/4??
