Yes, this is highly unusual! Would have been curious to know how it had happened. Who is in charge of Peru?

Hello everyone,

Does anyone have any tips on how to achieve the first historical goal with the Arabs in 600AD? With the extreme inflation, the Fatimids, Turks and possibly a crusade, I don't know how it will be possible to invest so much in science on the side.

Greetings :)

I did add varietas delectat in vanilla DoC 1.18 fairly easily. What's more complicated in this submod, besides the additional civs? Genuine question, perhaps I can help
That's all it would take. I just say it's complicated by the standards of someone who hasn't modded anything.

I need to do a playthrough to validate Arabs, they are a lot harder than in vanilla.

oh, got it. is there any plan to add it in the future?
If I finish this mod, so probably never? Varietas Delectat is something to be added when everything else is done, as it's a purely visual update.

I tried yesterday, Misr and Turks not a big problem (even AI sometimes fightback Egypt), but House of Wisdom is. I think (and it was discussion in main threads sometime ago) we need old effect back. Double bubble from GP.
More problem could deal Parthia. Taking Bagdad with all those x-bow and war elephants not easy (and x-bow in cites at hill is also pain)

UPD. Tried another one, was short with 2 tech. Silver Tree Fountain is must. But I used 3 GP for shrines, and defently could steal (but didn't) 1-2 tech! And I checked 600AD start - you'll get shrines and same big army. So just develop land and go for UHV. Also tip with Mirsi - vasalazed them and give city in Egypt (Hesperides - fine, maybe Alexandria in 600AD game also, don't forget build fishboat, help to grow). So Mirsi as vassals lead you to UHV2. If you give them iron they could have some army for help

P.S. Meanwhile, Barbarians Kindoms decide start new crusade (since 1st in 300-550AD has failed) against Roman Empire :ar15:
P.S2. In one game I saw how Spain colonized Manila with Cogs (and there was another coming, to settle more Philippines) before Exploration

The beginnings of balancing the human Arabia player's UHV experience.
New Patch
  • Give Human Arabia the extra AI units
  • Buff Arabia starting gold.
  • Extended Arabia tech goal to 1350.
  • Change conquest goal to "by 1350"
Although I was able to get uhv1 in 1200 in another try, it was frustrating, that instead atackin Roman Empire and spreading Islam in Anatolia, I got OB and peace for stealing tech. Extending UHV1 to 1350AD is cool
Changing UHV2 to by 1350AD also cool, coz since RFC it feel not historical, Usually you delay conquest of Iberia to deadline, and now, science UHV1 can be done a bit latter, you can focus on conquest task

Sorry, I'm not a native English speaker. What does the word 'by' change?
"in" means the objective must be accomplished (true) on the turn of that specific year. It does not complete if the condition is true any time before that specific turn.
"by" means the objective can be accomplished (true) on any turn up to and including the year specified in the objective.

New Patch
  • Add Constantinople to Spanish name map

Probably we need new names for such situation)

In this case Spain became vassal of Byzantine and got a lot of free tech. And then Moors collapsed - bang! New King in Europe. Playing in Europe i find out, that Spain often willing be vassal. and it's no wonder. Coz then I played with Arabia i had problems with beating Moors in Iberia. I lost most of my big veterans army, and only with reinforcement could get good deal (Moors as vassal).

Turic - well, i played Xia-India-Kushans-Turic (some notes about it in PS)- and got very good start, i had +30 gold with 100% science with birth protection. And still was hard to get 7% of land. Wonder how to do it, with worse start. I thing Turic must get at least 4 Oghuz to able pillage in China, coz there not much time for all thing. Arabia now can build Ghazi and Mobile Guard from the beginning, so war with them very interesting now and tough (like). And you don't have much production in cites. So, i think player must get something - more army or advanced start (maybe it's even better, maybe both)

P.S. So, about Xia start. I'm still impress, how little help from the beginning can change AI game. I didn't much with Xia - shrine, roads, some good city placement and switch right Sui born - but Sui always going much much better then. They often survive Mongols (of coz they losing many cites, but can stay alive), The Three Kingdom period also not hurting much them. Yes, Shu and Wu respawn regular, but Sui stand over time. They up to date, and not going in science far away
Next - India. Some good city placements and 2 shrine (i leave them quite early, not much help from me) - and they can dominate whole India, and stop expansion of Ghurid/Timurid only in Pakistan (but in game from screenshot - Ghurid kill them). Thy fall behind with tech anyway, but keep BIG army to protect themselves. It's a bit shame that Kushans usually collapse them (maybe Kushans need a bit less or re-balanced started army?)
So, as bottom line - maybe a bit less barbarian pressure for ancient AI.
Also. Alexandria almost every time autoraze then Egypt or someone collapse. Usually only one city in Egypt, unless Misr found some (and it will be not autorazed). I saw razed Alexandria from Sea Peoples, than after Egypt collapsed, then they ressurect and found it another time, but razed again. then after Mirsi collapsed. So. 4 time it was razed ((

How about add Marxist wonder or ability to that religion, to get trade routes with foreign cites where Marxism is present. So you can still run isolationism and get foreign trade route? Something like Iron Curtain.

Probably we need new names for such situation)

Yeah I noticed Alexandria is often razed. Probably can be fixed with tweaks to settler map of Macedon, Rome, Arabs, etc.

Turkic UHV / human difficulty likely needs to be addressed since it is mostly unchanged from vanilla despite all the new activity in the Middle East and China.

In other news, I autoplayed a game to 2000 AD and the tech progression was quite good. The game is now playable to the end game with decent teching of AIs.

New Patch
  • Fix typo in Arab Egypt republic title assignment code.
  • New Republic, Communist, Fascist names to fix missing text keys for some civs.
