Succession game for classic

OK, it is late here (now that I've caught the message) I'll run my turn tomorrow & post accordingly.:)

Opening status as of 1000bc -- 8 cities, 53g, 10 tech (8 turns @ 3.0.7) only contact with Amerks; 5 settlers, 9 infantry, 3 mounted, 1 boat, 1 camel. Oh yeah & a dead king Yop.

975 bc The best the Romans can do is push a Slow n Old guy to the throne. :( But we do record 300K pop.

925 bc discover Writing; Opt for literacy (over Masonry, HBR, WC)

900 bc found Hispalis (an Elepahnt wanders too close to Atlanta & is sent home -- we see an Amerk Elephant, Chariot & Horse in the nearby area)

850 bc (Americans start Pyramids)

800 bc Rome completes Colossus (Germany abandons their paltry attempt at greatness). Found Viroconium. Babylon starts Pyramids, Germany starts Lighthouse.

775 bc Veii completes a silk caravan (demanded in Rome, Atlanta and elsewhere)

The Slow n Old King writes a few notes at the end of his reign:
1) the gems caravan is demanded in Atlanta
2) there is a boat in Pisae (and two Settlers nearby...)
3) surveyors think that space (48,68,3) could be special
:scan:

To Old n slow: :goodjob:
To Gen Schwartz Cough: Maybe you should rehome the Silk-Caravan to Rome, and then transport it to Atlanta.

Now I'm gonna post some pictures.

The newly discovered parts of the American Continent

The new Roman cities and their environnement

The city-screen of Rome

So, Gen, you're up.

EDIT: Links weren't working.

I have one question regarding rehoming the caravan, an idea I like by the way. If I rehome it, then it is no longer carrying silk, but a commodity of Rome, correct? I will wait a reasonable amount of time for a reply before I start my turn.

Oops....forgot to ask the question I meant to ask in the first place. :) This is my first succession game. I want to be sure I know the basic rules. From what I have seen thus far, it is that we each take 10 turns and pass it on with a write-up of what we did in those ten turns. And that we play as though we were playing solo against the computer. Is this the case? Please don't think that I don't want any advice! Quite the contrary. I joined this game so I could learn from it, so pour on all the advice you will!! :D

I think the commodity isn't changed.
And yes, you need to play 10 turns, do a write-up, and post the save-game. If you want, you can add some pictures, if you can't, I'll do that.

Yop :king:

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to play the game last night as promised. Sorry gents. I will do my best to get it played at some point tonight. Again, sorry for the delay.....

In 775 BC, General Shwartz Cough takes control of the Roman Empire. Upon arrival in the capital city of Rome, his advisors deliver their new leader the following reports...

Domestic Advisor Report:
Cities : 10
Tax Rate : 3.0.7
Population : 370,000
Treasury : 87 Gold

Defense Minister Report:
3 Settlers (1 in prod.), 3 Warriors, 5 Phalanx, 2 Archers,
1 Horseman, 1 Chariot, 1 Elephant, 3 Triremes (2 in prod.)
1 Diplomat, 2 Caravans (3 in prod.)

Foreign Minister Report:
We have a Peace Treaty with the Americans, although our attitude towards them is Hostile. We have no Embassy there. Our power is Supreme and our reputation is Spotless.

Science Advisor Report:
We have 11 technical advances. We are discovering new technologies every 150 years (6 turns). We are currently researching Literacy.

So with this knowledge, the General turned emperor, began his 10 turn reign.....

In 775 BC..... A silk caravan left Veii enroute to Rome. A trireme debarted Neapolis for Hispalis to pick up a settler. The horseman NW of Atlanta explores more of America by moving north. A trireme was built in Pisae. Production there was changed to Phalanx for settler escort.

In 750 BC..... Roman Wise Men discover the secret of Literacy. They begin researching Philosophy. A caravan from Rome bearing gems arrived in Atlanta. Merchants there paid 96 gold for the stones. The horseman in America continued to explore and encountered an American Chariot. A Phalanx unit was rushed to completion in Pisae, so that the one stationed there could escort a band of settlers out of the city. Both units boarded a Trireme and departed to the south due to American military presence on a potential beachhead. A caravan carrying hides assembled in Pompeii. Production there was changed to building a Temple.

In 725 BC..... The population of the Roman Empire now exceeds 400,000 people. A new Phalanx unit is stationed in Pisae. Construction of a Temple begins there. Roman Trireme discovers land south of the Empire. The settlers and their Phalanx escort disembark there. The silk caravan arrives in Rome and is now supported by that city, where it waits for the next available ship to Atlanta. Hides caravan leaves Pompeii for Pisae. The horseman in America has found the city of Boston.

In 700 BC..... The Golden age of Philosophy begins in Pisae! With this new found knowledge, Roman philosophers discover Horseback Riding and begin researching Polytheism. The Horseman that found Boston was expelled from America. Hispalis is now connected to rest of the Empire by roads. The Trireme to the south explores the new found coastline.

In 675 BC..... The city of Lugdunum was founded by Pisaean settlers. Their escort is now supported by that city, while their Trireme continued to explore the coast of Lugdunum Province.

In 650 BC..... A band of settlers formed in Cumae. Production there was changed to caravan. The English have begun building Pyramids. A Pompeii - Rome trade route (Hides) nets the Empire 16 Gold. This caravan was originally bound for Pisae, but Pisae no longer demands hides. Hispalis promptly spent 11 of it to rush a Phalanx unit for settler escort. Coastal exploration east of Lugdunum continues.

In 625 BC..... A Temple was built in the city of Rome. Workers there have started constructing a Wonderous project....The Hanging Gardens. The silk caravan boards a Trireme in Rome and heads for Atlanta. The Trireme to the south heads for Cumae to pick up a settler.

In 600 BC..... The population of the Roman Empire now exceeds 500,000 people.

In 575 BC..... A settler and it's Phalanx escort depart Hispalis to establish a beachhead in America. An unescorted settler boards a Trireme in Cumae to settle in Lugdunum Province.

In 550 BC..... Roman Philosophers discover the secrets of Polythesim and begin to research Masonry. Phalanx units were built in Hispalis and Viroconium. production in these cities was changed to Diplomat and settler respectively.

In 525 BC..... As he was preparing to leave, the General notced the passing of the following events:
The population of the Roman Empire now exceeds 600,000 people.

Ravenna and Pompeii built Temples. Production was changed to settler and Warrior respectively. The Warrior is being built to maintain order.

The Germans have begun building a Great Library.

And with that, the General was honorably discharged, but with a reserve activation clause.

Nice turn. :goodjob:
