Food Production

- Hunter gatherer, +1 Food in all cities - no upkeep
- Agriculture, +3 Food in all cities - low upkeep
- Rationing, +2 Food in all cities - high upkeep
- hydroponics, +5 Food in all cities - high upkeep
- Eco-dome farms, +6 Food in all cities - medium upkeep
- replication (REF: Star trek :) ), +8 Food in all cities - no upkeep

what do you think? Upkeeps might need changing a bit :)

Upkeeps are broken already; they don't scale which renders them useless.

If you have one in mind, please suggest what you would consider to be an appropriate scaling mechanic and we can get a debate going with a view to addressing possible scaling issues here...

I think it should scale linearly by your civ's population. I don't know what constant in that equation would be, but it's a good idea in concept.

I think this line is like the GST line... a little too linear with little reason to not just be on the forefront, which makes it more of an automatic tech adjustment to food income rather than suitable for a civic line.

Agreed, we don't need a new line of civics that is strictly linearily scaling. The Upkeep for existing civics though does need some work IMO, so I'll look into that.

My suggestion would be change it to this

Hunter Gatherer Hunter camps/jungle camps/fishing nets +1 food - No upkeep
Agriculture Farms +1 food - Low upkeep
Cannibalism food generation from combat victory +1 unhealthy in every city- Medium upkeep
Rationing +1 food per population, +.5 unhappy per citizen - Medium upkeep
Subsidized farms +2 food farms -1 gold farms - High Upkeep
Green Farming +1 healthy per a city +1 food per a farm -1 hammer per farm -High upkeep
Clear Cut Farming +1 unhappy +1 unhealthy +2 food per farm +1 gold per farm -Medium upkeep
Artificial (Cant think of a better name) +1 unhealthy in all cities, allows construction of hydroponic farm, soilent green factory -1 food/gold farms. -High upkeep

(Ideally the buildings from this would help generate more food in cities to help counter the minuses and possibly some bonuses to other buildings that are artificial food generation and also probably give fairly high pollution)

Cloning Allows beef vat (+5 food in every city for every cow, sheep, pig, fish, horse, ect) +2 unhealthy per city, + Pollution (fairly high I am thinking I dunno the numbers that would be right) -Astronomical upkeep

Screw the whole mechanism. Use costs directly created by the civic instead.
