Suggestions and Requests

At last, my long term plan to spite you finally came to fruition :D

But seriously, who ever said I disagreed with you?

My subconscious and my nightmares.

While we're on the topic of long term spiting, I've also been saying that the sheep on Caralis and the wine on Crete should be developed on the 600AD scenario. And the two areas in Central America that can be settled to cross the continent (Mexican Stone and Ciudad de Guatemala) can be made mountains while replacing a nearby mountain with the previous set up; this will stop cross-continent sailing, and it looks more aesthetically pleasing as well.

And while I'm being cocky, the swamp north of Savannah, Georgia, USA should be removed and made a grassland while the jungle below it should be made a swamp. Also, the mouth of the Mississippi should be moved 1W so it lines up with New Orleans.

That one tile isthmus in Mexico is in real life a lowland area, with hills east and west, but the tile itself is plains. So not a mountain there, please. There are already far too many mountains in southern mexico in the map, they should be pretty much all hills, as those places are full of cities and towns (they shouldn't be "unsettlable"). That said, I agree that no canal cities should be available in Mexico or Guatemala (if anything, just Nicaragua and Panama).

Leoreth could you please do the world a favor and give Charlemagne his music? Doesn't feel right with Louis XIV' track. Who cares if Barbarossa has same thing, Alfred has same theme as vikings/sweden/norway/denmark/whoever in the same time period so it's not like it's without precedent.

So with you.

Would it be possible to encourage the Vikings and maybe the moors ( Emphasis on the maybe, like if they still are in Spain or something) to colonize more. Historically the Swedish had colonies outside of North America, and for the moors, if they do well it makes sense for them to eventually want to colonize.
I also have a question about Aztec and Incan conquerors, as it seems the AI deliberately avoids Aztecs and Incans until a certain date. For example, I've seen Spain explore the Caribbean but completely miss the Aztecs who are a few tiles away. Can you confirm if this is true?

I have made the same observation, but to my knowledge there is nothing that deliberately makes the AI act like that.

I have noticed in all my games that the Conquerer event starts in the 1300s. There needs to be a way to prevent it until the 1500s. Maybe another requirement for caravel? Or maybe more beakers required.

I couldn't stand that early conquerors' event, so I customized Caravel adding a Paper tech requirement (I don't know if Cristoforo Colombo could have travelled without maps :mischief: ), then I doubled tech cost for Optics and halved the Education one just to balance everything a little bit. In Marathon games, this pattern works very well, because the AI hardly meets Aztecs or Incas before 2nd half of 1400s.

Not really sure which thread this question belongs in, but.. is the "Gift 10 gold the first time you meet another civ to get bonus relations -> open borders"-combo an intentional feature? It's to some extent a bit cheesy that those 10g can net you open borders and friendship for an eternity.

Yes, I want to get rid of that as well. Please remind me when I start doing some diplo AI stuff which I want to do at some point.

Persia needs to always auto-declare war on Babylon on spawn. Neo-Babyolonian empire gets stronk enough that even Alexander's SoD can't kill them otherwise.

I'd like to see indie cities along eastern coast of Africa in order to represent Swahili indepents sultanates. No more Mombasa and Quelimane, but:
1) (1000, (71, 21), iNative, 'Kilwa', 1, con.iZuluImpi, 1), # Kilwa
2) (1100, (70, 16), iNative, 'Sofala', 1, con.iZuluImpi, 1), # Sofala
3) (1180, (74, 25), iNative, 'Muqdisho', 1, con.iZuluImpi, 1), # Muqdisho

I'd rather see Muqdisho, Mombasa, and Dar Es Salaam. Furthermore when they are captured, they represent the colonization period very well -- they also represent independence well.

Leoreth, would you be willing to consider different 3rd goals for Prussia & Japan?

The current "research all the techs!" is imho pretty annoying since their 2nd UHV usually means becoming the biggest kid on the block and from there it is just waiting for the turns to pass for the victory (since Espionage + huge empire will make sure you are the first).
Plus at that point you're usually only about a dozen turns away from a domination victory anyway, making the conquest-goal the final UHV a better fit, I'd say.

I don't have any immediate ideas but if a thread were opened, I am pretty sure some viable ideas would pop up.

Different tech oriented goals would be okay. It's just that I've tried to come up with replacements already, but found nothing suitable, so don't expect anything to get implemented.

How about any of those:

- Be the most advanced civilization in [1940-45] (or different close date, especially Germany was one of the most advanced countries in the world before the war)

- Be the first civ to research Fission / build the Manhattan Project (or do that by 1940-50)
(makes sense for Prussia as they tried to get the nuke and also makes somewhat sense for Japan to basically reverse the historical situation)

edit: Fission AND Rocketry might even be doable, but that will be insanely hard - I have been running 100% science every single turn and have been first in score from ~1830 onwards and MIGHT just make it (after 1900 it is 1year/turn, right?)

- Be the first civilization to reach the modern era

-------

Also:
I think Prussia and America could also get a TC-event:
- America gets Hawaii/Honululu (could be added to Japans conquest UHV for additional pressure)
- Prussia gets a city in German-Eastafrica (German-Westafrica might be another option), not because they need it or it would help them in any way but since it is historical and the "place in the sun" was a rather important goal for them

In general, there should just be more congresses that allow civilizations to colonize where they should be colonizing.
