Suggestions and Requests

Back onto the topics of modern-ish leaders for civs.

Kongo - Idi Amin (I know he's Ugandan but there aren't very many famous Congolese leaders in the modern era.

Yeah I saw him but I didn't see any leaderheads with leopard skin hats.

I think the founding of Taoism should be changed so that Egypt doesn't get it.

Maybe making it so that the first person who builds a Confucian temple gets Taoism? Or maybe the first city that has both Confucianism and Buddhism becomes the Taoism holy city but that might cause problems with Korea/Japan.

I think changing the founding to Taoism to the first builder of a Confucian temple would be a good idea, as I have seen Persia founding Taoism a lot recently.

It really is a good idea.

Probably no fundamental changes to religion founding before release. I'll wait until the tech speed balancing has settled in though, this could also be the reason for the problem right now.

Along with updating with a new leader head *nudge* you should make Peru spawn more often or even be a choosable civ in 1700. Maratha and Mysore are just basic respawns but they're playable.

Peru doesn't exist in 1700 AD though. Autoplay doesn't work after the actual spawn date, so I can only add civs that spawn before 1700 AD if they are in the scenario right from the start.

Oh poo. Well what about a respawn? ;)

Random respawn is still in the cards, and happens quite often in the 1700 AD scenario afaik.

Would it be possible to have the stability hit taken away upon respawn?

Yeah.

Then that's my suggestion/request I suppose.

I suggest we introduce a new type of terrain: "Mountain Pass" to replace some of the peaks. Mountain Pass Allows civilian passage, exhausts movement points, can't build roads and can't be worked by cities.

Mountain Pass

A mountain pass (also called a gap, saddle, or col) is a passage over a mountain range. They typically occur in valleys between mountain ridges, in low points along mountain watersheds or just the lowest point on a mountain ridge between two peaks.

They can be relatively short in length (the width of a ridge) or they can be valleys many miles long. Mountain passes are often the location where roads and railways are built to get through the mountains.

Many of them have become famous throughout history for their importance in trade and commerce. Some of the most well known are Donner in California (7,056 feet 2,151 m), Brenner between Italy and Austria (4,495 feet 1,370 m), Khyber between Pakistan and Afghanistan (3,510 feet 1,070 m), and Thorung La in Nepal, one of the highest in the world, at 17,769 feet (5,416 m).

So, a hill that's unworkable in function? Neat idea actually, but sometimes mountains are strategically placed to keep civs in certain areas, like the Incans.

That reminds me, Bogota in 3000 BC (don't know about 600 AD but I assume it's the same) sucks major ass.

Quito is usually founded and you have to start with Bogota due to the civ switching so now you have 2 (sometimes 3 if the rainforest by Panama is settled) terrible cities inside Colombia itself which doesn't do anything but bring down your economy.

Is there any way to fix this problem? My only solution is to take out some more mountains in Colombia, auto raze Quito on Colombian spawn and put more resources for Bogota to work but I really don't know. Colombia in general is very weak.

Also on the idea of mountain passes, maybe an upgrade for units that makes them able to go through mountains? This would be neat because choke points that exist with mountains (Venice, Tibet, etc.) would be obsolete because nations who are designed to conquer the area (Germany, China) could just upgrade their units and pass through the mountain.

As Catepillar King said, mountains are used to keep civs and units in place and I don't think that should change.

Could we please enable civs to remove marsh with some lategame tech? How does it make sense that you can clear fallout for crying out loud, but not marshes? It's just inconsistent. If this is about Russia becoming too overpowered then I'd say that's only realistic: The glorious Soviet Union once even turned an entire sea into land! Mother Earth is no match for Mother Russia!

On an unrelated note, I think we should make Workshops not remove food initially, only after some crucial industrial tech like maybe Steam Power. This would free you from the burden of having to make some early game civic boost them lest they are too underpowered.

Ceterum censeo WATERMILL should get its second commerce back, which you so dastardly stole all those months ago.
