these are the starts,
i was on a roll so rolled 5.

start one

start 2

start 3

start 4

start 5

all of these are nice.
your votes please :hatsoff:

start 1 marsh & jungle
start 2 cow & 2 bg within 21 tile radius
start 3 4 bgs and hills so nice shield potential but no food bonus
start 4 ivory, bg game on forest & gold inthe hill
start 5 just 3 bgs

My vote is #4. All have fresh water for the capital.3, 4, & 5 only have lakes so no river for fresh water for 2nd & 3rd city.

I either need to be at the end or 1st or 2nd in the roster if that is ok. I'm leaving Friday and will be back Tuesday night to visit my folks. I'll be able to check the forums but no civ for me. while I'm gone. I don't mind going first but would be able to play until later tonight or maybe even tomorrow.

All will work, #4 is best because of the ivory.

Yep, I like #4. If we don't build SoZ ourselves, none of the other AIs will as we'll have a monopoly. I can go 1st or 2nd, same as TR I'm away for the w/e.

----eldar - start us up
----tubby rower - on deck
----Bede
----soul_warrior (tired of starting moves)
----Admiral Kutzov
----IroquoisPlisken
----DBear

it seems like a unanimous vote for start 4

here it is

EDIT::: Nevermind it works now

Got it, 20 turns coming right up.
First move NW with the Settler (to get off the BG) was promising... more later ;)

Right, I have a dilemma. The attached pic should spell it out clearly enough. I didn't pop the hut earlier because Amsterdam would've been undefended it Barbs came out. However it's a good spot for a city. The other option is to forget the GH Hill for now, and go for the yellow dot.

I have all evening to wait for your sage advice.

Risk the GH... or play it safe?

Neil. :cool:

Since we have no military no barbs can come out of it. So worst case is we get nothing. go ahead and pop the hut!!!

We do have military - there's a Warrior out of shot exploring northwards along a mountain chain....

OK then, yellow dot it is. I wouldn't risk it. Not with our first settler.

Fine, Yellow it will be. It is only 3200BC after all :D Like the starting area? ;)

Two contacts, two luxes, two cities, two techs - not bad work for 20 turns.

BC 4000 Okay, we're starting on a BG so move NW with the Settler. Joy oh joys! Moo-cow! :dance: Start the Worker mining.

1 3950 Found Amsterdam… and there's another Cow, for our 2nd city though. Get building a Curragh. Research is Writing @ Max.

5 3750 IT: Curragh->Warrior.

7 3650 MM Amsterdam to the Ivory turn before growth - extra 2 gold can't hurt.

IT: pop growth.

8 3600 Lux up to 10%. Keep working the Ivory as it's getting more gold, faster research. MM to the lake, even more gold this turn and still get the Warrior.

IT: Warrior->Settler, due with growth.

9 3550 Curragh finds two more Cows! Use the Warrior to explore, Lux has to go to 20% for now.

10 3500 Warrior finds some Wheat. Curragh finds an American Warrior, on our land. Alpha goes Abe's way for CB+35g.

IT: Borders expand…

12 3400 Even more Wheat (plains this time), and another lake.

14 3300 IT: Settler->Warrior.

15 3250 We are also sharing with Lizzie, and I get BW+10g for our CB. I also have a quandry. The place I want to put the Settler is topped by a GH. I didn't pop it with the Warrior, in case it spawned Barbs and invaded an unprotected Amsterdam. I may move towards a different location. IT: Abe's Scout comes in from the fog and pops a hut I was about to get!

16 3200 After taking advice, go for a slightly further, but safer, location for the first city.

18 3100 D'oh… I've still been running 20% Lux for the last 4 turns :blush:

IT: Warrior->Warrior.

19 3050 City #2 will have Dyes in its 21!

20 3000 Rotterdam founded, starts a Warrior. Amsterdam switched to its Granary.

And a picture (sorry its a bit big... I forgot to resize it):

I would say to push the borders towards the Americans and then backfill. We are going to need some military locally soon so we can pop that hut.
