Hi,
having worked with open source projects, I´ve found bugzilla (http://www.bugzilla.org/) pretty handy in regard to developing a system to bring "order to chaos" - 348 companies, organizations and projects can´t be wrong ;-)

If NASA, IBM, Mozilla among others use it, why not Firaxis Games, too? Perhaps a user-based system would already help if the company decides against it.
ciao

Who's to say they aren't already using it? ;)

Who, Firaxis Games or the community? About Firaxis, true, I don´t know - but the ideas, the wishlists and bug discussions in this forum are pretty chaotic. Couldn´t find any hint that bugzilla is used here to systemize feature requests, so... :-)

Yes. Why shouldn´t civfanatics use it to collect feature requests ? I was reading through lots of pages, but it´s hard to keep an overview...

I think this is a BAD idea. *shock* Why? Because Civ4 is fairly far along and if people see this official looking list on this site they might think that it is meaningful rather than just wishful thinking...because Firaxis isn't obligated in any way to listen to the requests...

Firaxis does use tools like this internally.

What works well with open source projects may not do so well with commercial games...

The company creating the game might already use it - but I´m curious, what makes you believe bugzilla wouldn´t work in this case?

If people really think this forum is anything else than a (civ)fan(atics) site, I can´t help it, that´s their problem to be honest. Civ4 is of course at least a year away (probably two, as the gaming industry tends to protract projects), but if I were a developer, I´d be curious what the fans want. Not all suggestions and feature requests make sense or are even possible to implement, but having a fast, systematic overview would certainly be superior to suggestions, feature requests and which lists all over a html based forum.

Soren said in his GDC speech that before he started design of Civ4 he collated all the suggestions on this site and the other major sites to see what people thought they wanted.
