talonNES: MES/NES III

Sancha watches all of these exchanges with a hint of a smile.

No comment other than that.

"Commodore Emilio Salvodelli, at your service. I have never heard of this "Rome,"* but I can assure you I surpass their brightest commander. As for my armor, it is made of high-grade, bullet stopping, lightweight alloy plates attached to a mesh made of similar materials. It's built to both allow extreme levels of movement, and take a hit and keep going. Well, most hits. It's definitely saved my life, and seen many battles."

OOC:
*Regarding his timeline, Rome=Abbianti. And Abbianti is the size of Rome under Trajan.
Remind me to detail the timeline, by the way.

"Aye, I danne caare whoo thar cammandar id, lat's jarst git arn wid irrt! Thaeers parple danne harrve anyting thar drunk lads! Notink! Thar'ts carle arrn arrunusarrrl poonismarnt! Arrl bear darwn in thar carckpat warking arrt thar cantarls, waaitin' far ardars anne drankan bazee!"

Donald walks in the direction of the room where the piloting happens with a drunken stagger. He takes a few gulps of his whiskey along the way too.

There is a tapping noise on the windshield, where an unnamed lackey of Talonschild is throwing things. Talonschild himself is cycling through a series of hand-lettered signs:

"See how you're still attached to the dock?"
"It's very difficult to go exploring whilst tied to it."
"Try going somewhere else."
"Because somewhere else has alcohol."
"And waiting for you to leave, I find myself sorely in need."
"Don't screw up."

Donald, now in the cockpit, decides that he is bored with the ship being still so now they are going to fly somewhere. Besides, he is out of Whiskey. So Donald flies out of the dock using thrusters and then uses the jump drive to randomly end up in another random universe.

I start looking around the ship, looking especially for some beer to drink, as well as, later, my bedroom. I'll talk with the others tomorrow about what to do.

OOC: still think that, perhaps, we could have done this with what I suggested.

Oh great. I see where this is going. :p

IC/Action: Attempt to not get whiplashed by drunk driving. If possible, find a cool, dry, dark place to sleep.

Quiet aboard the stubbornly unnamed MES. All the crew were sleeping: five in various crew cabins, and McTavish at the helm.

McTavish came to. Looking at the planet below he had an idea that he should rouse the others and decide on a course of action. But, his hangover said, getting up would not be fun.

"Computer?"

"Yeah?"

"Wake up the others."

"Yes, your lordship." The computer, through speakers all over the ship, cleared its throat. When that failed to produce the desired reaction, it tried again, amplifying the noise a thousandfold. Clattering as all the crew jolted awake, and McTavish was startled out of his chair. Groaning, he picked himself up off the floor.

Eventually, all six managed to assemble themselves. The computer checked that they were all alert and ready by blasting a klaxon and noting with satisfaction the way they jumped.

"Alright, a crash course in what I've learned about the planet below in my time to study it after our beloved pilot deviated so egregiously from the hoped-for plan:

"The world displays above average radiation levels. Judging by intensity and distribution, a nuclear war roughly a hundred years past, with most of the white man countries gone - notable exceptions are New Zealand and Sweden. Switzerland and South Africa are also arguably exceptions, but South Africa is not exactly entirely white and Switzerland is not entirely still around. Japan and China are also notably destroyed. Europe, North America, and East Asia are all wastelands.

"The war seems to have included Cuba as a primary conflict area, as the island has ceased to exist.

"Anyways. Major powers include Sweden, Brazil, South Africa, and India. All, however, are subordinate to the New United Nations, based in Singapore. The NUN appears to be in a state of high activity at present.

"Population levels are fairly low, and cities few and far between, though those that exist are quite substantial. Transportation is mostly land and water based, as the infrastructure for aerial hasn't really made a comeback. English is the lingua franca.

"I guess you can ask questions."

OOC: It occurs to me that I ought to set deadlines for actions, to ensure people know what to expect. You have 24h to not be in a fetal position until next update.

"How is it possible that the island of Cuba was a primary conflict area? In my timeline, they were partners in the Spanish Empire, although, given how many names of nations that I do not know you have used, I suppose that the Spanish Empire did not exist here."

OOC: Do we get in the end some bracelets so that we can understand each other better?

Donald McTravish stumbles around the cockpit for a second trying to find a whiskey bottle. Was he out of booze already? Oh, wait, no! A full bottle was in his hand all along! He takes a swig, hair of the dog and all that.

"I canne balieveh," said Donald "thart bloodeh englarsh is thar barge langarge! I marn it's spokarn baye abart a hudtard parble in mar counntray! Tanywar, whares thar marst alarchal metarl bayo? I nard sarme baze!"

PLACEHOLDER ORDERS:

Donald does a ceremonious and perfect landing in the middle of the Singaporean city center.

OCC: What TL are we in? Or is that unknown?

OOC: I don't understand and how beer will be so hard to find.

"Sad to see all of the Kingdom of Abbianti or whatever it was in this timeline annihilated. Anyway, I say we stop in uninvited on the NUN."

The ship has landed. I'm assuming you're all on the bridge. Your entry has attracted significant attention; there is a small crowd, who are content right now to let a patrol of six soldiers approach.

"Hello?" shouts the lead soldier.

OOC: Yes, you can understand everyone. We're glossing over any language barriers.

24h

Wait! There's no language barriers? Then I wasted a spell. Speaking of which, you haven assigned costs to spells.

Do a visual scan of the crowd and surrounding buildings. Singapore, correct? Look for anything that is...wrong. Anyone or anything markedly out of place. Also for spies and surveillance stuff, if present. Either way, follow the rest of the crew when they undoubtedly disembark.
