What if the Tang Dynasty declared war on the Caliphate(or reversed),what would have happened then? And there was an invasion?

This.

For more precise answers, more precise OPs please.

Edit: damn your crossposting skills, Dachs :D

I know of that battle, but if example Emperor Taizong or Empress Wu Zetian started an huge invasion or the Caliphate started an invasion?
Because of 1upt, there's not enough space between the Himalaya and the Altai Mountains to deploy enough units for a breakthrough. No gain for either side.

This wouldn't be possible. They couldn't even really hold on to Korea or Xinjiang, why would they be able to hold on to any portion of the Middle East or even Persia for more than a few months at most?

The Battle of Talas was fairly inconsequential except for the discovery of paper by the Caliphate after they captured a few Chinese engineers. In fact, the Tang position in Central Asia strengthened for a few years after the battle due to the Turks that they had fought against being fairly devastated. Though all these questions are really silly.

China collapsed into civil war within five years.

Point. You missed it.

Please stop making ridiculous threads, thank you.

Hey, at least it beats lolPoland threads.

At least the Poland threads are history.

Yes, that was rather the point - I thought that the 1upt comment would've made that clear enough! ;) Although I've always found it to be hilarious that both the Tang and the Umayyad states had massive civil wars immediately after the battle - the Tang one only semi-connected to the engagement's outcome, and the Muslim one connected but not contingent.

Yes. There are much more fun what-ifs out there.

The most the Arabs could have done in the aftermath of the battle of Talas would have been to chase the Chinese to Eastern Turkestan and in best case scenario annex some of the silk road cities (if you are not familiar with the area; this is a rater meager conquest). But they would have lost those cities immediately afterwards due to the impending civil war. The only real change that would have occurred is that Islam would have spread to Xinjiang a bit faster and maybe Islam would have spread a bit more inland in China than it historically did.

Aye; I just hoped that perhaps this thread could somehow, in some way, be redeemed from mediocrity.

It is quite impossible for Tang to launch a massive attack, as the military supply is insufficient in the most of the time, since they have the responsiblities to defend their tributary states. It is also a major reason that the Arabs could defeat them easily on the border.

The Arab Caliphates are often exaggerated because the Europeans lost the Crusades. As I know, the Umayyad Caliphate was already in many years of decade and disintegrated before the time of Battle of Talas, the belligerents were Abbasids and Tangs.

I think that there are a lot more interesting topics about cultural achievements and scientific advances other than battles and fights. Global domination does not mean everything.

I think that something I should say, so please don't open if you can't bear the consequence
Spoiler :
China threat advocate is really disgusting and nonsense, step them under your shoes is not an decent act of showing-off your courage either.
Muslims are not demons and son of Satans from the hell, I know that someone treat them like this.

Here I was thinking that that Muslims were sons of Satan from the hell. Thank you for enlightening me. Though I fear the dire consequences of your public revelation of these dark secrets. Even now, I fear the lizard-people/ illuminati are making their way to my door. Spread the word, brother.

Also, I think what would have happened is that the Chinese would have been defeated, and in their desperation fled across the sea to the mythical land of Kalimdor New World, colonising it, then going on to win WWII.

??

I didn't expect that anyone will quote my statements and reply...although I can't get what you mean:crazyeye:

I don't really care about whether Chinese will win the WWII or not (EDIT: but they did so :p)

I just think that those thoughts against non-Caucasians are not magnanimous doings.

The Europeans didn't lose the Crusades against "the Caliphate".
