Teacher suspended for saying "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe"

I hadn't heard of the racist version until a year or so ago. This is ridiculous. As usual, whoever the stupid people are in this case should be sued for being stupid.

If I could have white teeth like a Darkie, I'd buy that.

Something similar happened to a stewardess on Southwest Airlines a couple of years back.

Of course, the problem is that nobody in this country has ever had any idea that the words are anything other than "catch a tiger by the toe." The only people who know it as otherwise are those who are just trying to stir up trouble.

About as stupid as that guy during Clinton's Presidency (NOT blaming Bubba, okay, that's just when it happened) that got in trouble for using the word "niggard." Even though the two words are not related at all, come from totally different language families, the similiar sound was enough to get a guy suspended. The suspended fellow, by the way, was using the word correctly.

Oh, oh, how about the dim bulb in Los Angeles who was offended by the "master" and "slave" relationship between hard drives and wanted the county to start using less offensive terminology?

I swear, it's things like this that get me torn between laughing and weeping for my country.

yea, I just read that on wiki. and AKAIK in my OP or what you said, the n-word wasn't said or even alluded to.

Did she say the also. I hear that's racist to.

If she used the n word, then thats obviously a problem, otherwise, its just annoying middle school kids. damn them.
This is the first time I've heard of the racist version! I've been using that since kindergarten! Of course we lived in Asia and our ignorance of American racial issues had us end up using Darkie toothpaste.

What a horribly scary man! Who'd buy that?

soon the old lady in the shoe will be a "stereotype" of single mothers, and the cow jumping over the moon will be viewed as inspired by the same muses as Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. What has the world come to?

Phscologist should study why people are stupid so we can hopefully solve this problem sometime.

In Singapore sometimes it goes... Eeny meeny miny moe, catch a spider by its toe.

I first heard that when I was 4 and went, Spiders have toes?

Anyway....its racist? Some people really deserve to be pounded into the ground

Meanwhile Cracker Jack passes under the radar...

That kid looks like he belongs in the Hitler Youth!

I think the transition fron Nig... to tig... took place in the early 60s. My wife and I remember hearing both when we were growing up.

I used "One potato... two potato" more frequently though.

They would probably get in trouble for that.

It's all that political correct nonsense that is in the hart of this. Maybe if people understood that “fixing” words doesn’t mean that we “fixed” the problem..

Yeah I heard the n1gger version long before the tiger one. the former is clearly racist, the latter isnt, but Tigers dont tend to squeal so its pretty ridiculous

Maybe they should have used "piggy". They squeal don't they. Nobody would object to that.. or would they? :)

What? I thought it was "catch a baby". Which is the original???

When I first heard the rhyme, it was "catch that Tigger by his toe", so I thought that it had to do with Winnie the Pooh until I was seven years old!

Anyways, what will they do next? Will "Mary had a little lamb, its fleece was wh*te as snow." become racist too? Or maybe they'll even consider "CFC" to mean:
Spoiler :
"Catch those F****ng C******sts!!" (Yeah, I'll probably get banned for saying that)

Crikey, I didn't know that- it was always a tiger for me, some people I know held a baby- but that's about as offensive as I assumed it to be- when I became cynical... (cruelty to animals, and possible child molestering? I mean in both cases you're holding them against their will until they scream!)

Oh and couldn't "piggy" be a source of offense to the, er, horizontally challenged?
