Please do, if that means you are buying a Mac  And be sure to visit our Mac-specific forums to ensure that you get one that will do a good job with Civ4.

Already have.
Cost, performance, upgradeability: the usual suspects. It know it will be a Macbook or MBP, as I want portability. I was planning to buy in June, but I don't want to wait until October for Leopard.

Once I have it, F@H will be one of my earlier installations. CivIV will probably follow.

Not a MacBook if you want to play Civ4. It has integrated Intel graphics, and doesn't cut it. The latest patches won't even run on it. You'll need a MBP for Civ4.

I've bumped a thread in the CivIV Mac forums. See you there.

Mine craps up like that.. seems i have to reinstall each time :(

is it an IE7 problem? when you install you need to set both options to no (connect as proxy, use IE settings if I remember the options correctly) it seems as if they are an either/or option but both should be set to no if you are using IE7.

I seem to be getting that problem regularly now as well where I never did before, I have just finished a work unit and it refuses to send it. I'm on Firefox, to be honest since this has only started becoming a regular occurrence recently it might be something to do with their end? Eventually the unit will send normally although sometimes it takes a few days, sounds like their uplink has issues maybe, really don't know but it's always been an intermittent problem so I doubt it's something our end?

That's been happening to me too, it started shortly after the PS3's started to fold. I wonder if they're having trouble coping with the volume now.
But so far everything has worked properly, sometimes it just takes a while.

Are PS3's preloaded with Folding or something?

Folding was part of the PS3 firmware upgrade released a couple of weeks ago.

When you buy a PS3 you have to select the option to upgrade the system to version 1.60 and that update includes the folding@home.

I had spent awhile trying to figure out how I was supposed to install the folding program until I found the option to upgrade the PS3, and then it was easy to find it.

If you can, change your name and team on it before starting it (not sure if you can do this), otherwise the first WU gets credited to the generic PS3 team (and they will continue to be until you change your name and team).

Hmm it's been 48 hours now, and still no send? What happens if it doesn't send it at all? Just backs up work units in a queue? In another few days I'll have another one waiting as well :S

There are some tips for dealing with these problems in the folding@home forums. There's a qfix utility that I've seen mentioned for unlocking queued units.

Seems to be mostly there end. Do you have a link to this fix? I can't seem to find anything that mentions it on the forum. I tried downloading and updated version of the software but apparently it doesn't update the old version, it just runs separately so that was no use.

There do seem to be a lot of complaints about collection server problems at the moment, and the home page for that forum includes announcements about servers with current problems. Maybe you just have to be patient.

The qfix reference I saw that applies to my Mac client was here. I can't find an equivalent set of instructions for Windows, though some of the people reporting problems sending WUs seem to be using qfix to try to solve the problem.

Hah, my folding @ home is crashing everytime. Only way it can stay up is if I don't go to display mode. Oh well.
