On a side note, whoever's folding under the name anonymous is welcome to join the taper team. I have several people helping me, and you'd be a great addition.

Or, you could fold under the auspices of the Radioactive Monkey.

I think I've managed to get a second client running (after realising I actually had a 2 core system!) - one graphical, and one console both set to a different ID number.

Any tips on the console version - if I check on progress then I seem to stop it when I close down the window - is that right? I think that I have it set up to run when I restart the machine, but how do I check that its running OK

With the console client if you close the screen that shuts it down. It is meant to be run minimized to the tray. You can check it by clicking on the tray and making it big again, or by programs you can run that monitor your overall folding progress and status for every WU and even across multiple networked computers. If you just want to check that it is running you can use ctrl-alt-del and click the 'performance' tab to see both CPUs.

If you don't want it on your tray you can either run it as a service, which removes it from sight entirely, or there are apps that hide programs in the tray but don't change how they run. If you're interested I'll find the info and links for you.

Cheers - I'll try a restart, and then check the log after a day or so to check its making progress.

If you're running console, the best thing to do (assuming you are not running 9x or ME) is to just configure it as a service. That way it's running in the background all the time with no window open at all. You can always stop it /start it via your services manager if you need to for whatever reason. That's how I've got it setup on my system, two instances of the console client running as a service, one for each core.

I think that's what I've done, judging from the logs, however I have also had the original graphical one running! as a result one is running OK, and one (and the graphical one) is running slow. I have 3 copies of folding78 in the task manager, one running at 50% , and the other 2 running at 25% (or close). One of the 25%'s is under my user ID, the other 2 are under system. I have set the graphical unit to pause on complete, so that should sort the problem out.

I'm running under windows multimedia edition (Home version of NT I think) both appear to be running as a service - all are running 2124 or 2125's which normally take 1hr for 1% on the graphical client that I have been running.

log 1 - running at just about normal - 1hr for 1%

i'm away at the moment, but my desk top is home folding. I can keep tabs on it from far away. Well, it just finished (or maybe aborted) a cycle and brought in 3 pts!! A record?

Nah! Mine aborted for 2 points earlier this week :)

My console version is folding well, and I might actually get some points now I have input the team and user ID on BOTH versions. only 392 points donated to team 0 before I noticed!

I've just downloaded it. I downloaded the "Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista
"No nonsense" text-only console (with built-in Windows-service-install option)" option. Is this wrong? I haven't the foggiest what I'm doing. :( I started it up, inserted "Technocactus" as a username, and the correct number. I haven't a clue what it's doing, and the last line on there is "completed 0 out of 5000000 steps". Is it working alright?

Probably so. You might want to reboot (I'm assuming you don't know how to stop/restart a service) to make sure it kicks in.

Oh, and welcome aboard!!! :)

Just FYI, but I just lost my last extended family computer. All I have folding now is my laptop dual core.

I can't fold anymore, the program now crashes my computer for no reason, maybe when I get a new computer, i'll start folding again.

bumpage etcerate

Sahkuhnder seems to have hit a new pace! Now submitting SMP work units at 1760 points each :goodjob:

yes - 60,000 points per week for the team for the first time I can remember!

Sakhunder, looks like you're in the points-per-day lead for good!! :goodjob:
