I just downloaded it.

You mean #3 ;)
And I wouldnt worry about me overtaking you. Thats still 200 days away. Until I get a second GPU that is.
I stand corrected. 1920 points in one update? Jesus, at that rate you're gonna be impossible to catch. Are you running a GPU client?

I guess IglooDude is running an SMP client on a multi-core system.

I run the SMP client on a 1st generation quad core Mac Pro, and it does 1920 point units in around 14 hours. I have a nVidia 8800GT GPU, and would love to run the GPU client as well, but there isn't one for the Mac currently.

I should really get it working on an SMP client then. Im pulling in something like 300 or 400 points per day on my 3 regular clients.

Well, my Q6600 under Linux folds about 12h per SMP unit.

I have also employed several computers in my office to run it.

Great news! I look forward to seeing you adding 4K+ per day for Team CFC :goodjob:

Oops, right, #3 - AlanH passed me as well.

 The work units (and points) are huge, but I'm only able to finish one a day or thereabouts. You're going to catch me, I'm only delaying the inevitable.

:goodjob: Mine's a Q660 quad-core running at 2.4GHz I think (a Dell Precision T3400). There's an Nvidia Quadro 270 in it, but I read in the folding forums that the GPU client isn't stable when using Windows remote desktop (RDP) so I can't use it, and it's not a v2.0 PCIe x16 so there aren't any really beefy video cards I can add to it, but who knows. :mischief:

Welcome back Igloo.
Seeing your post yesterday made me download (and use) the GPU2 client, and man it's awesome.
I've done around 4k in a day and a half. It's insane, I've done more in a day than my previous best in a month.

And also, welcome to the team Musekick :)

Welcome back IglooDude. I've still not got my new desktop but have now got a cheepo laptop to tide me over which still folds better than my desktop. Paid for it with Tesco shopping vouchers so it cost me no real money at all. It's adding to my points now but I'm certainly not in the running to overtake anyone even remotely close to the top of the table.

Gah, two problems with the SMP client. First off, my CPU temps get way too high, like, mid to upper 70's after a couple hours. That and I cant get it to work as a service. It will start, but the core loads for a little bit then closes. I can get it running if I manually start it though, so its probably a problem with the way I installed it as a service then. I ran the install.bat file which asked me if I wanted to add it as a service and that worked fine. Then, I went, set it to automatic and started it. And that should have been it afaik, except its not working.

EDIT -- Hey, got it to work somehow...

EDIT2 -- Its giving me quite a bit less ppd than I expected. 1500 ppd for a 90% utilization SMP client seems a bit low. Then again, I had to turn off my overclock as it got a bit too hot for comfort.
Gonna try do the VM SMp client. I hear that you can do 8000 ppd on an OC'd Q6600, so even a stock Q9550 should give at least 5000.

Have a second 9800gtx in my box now. Though it seems it will be a bit before I can get it folding. When I try both gpus its blazes along for about 2 min before my current UPS says I've had enough. Will be nice to double my production once that's going :)

My daily production should have stabilized now, but its still too low. 4200 ppd is much too low for SMP and GPU client, the GPU client alone should be pulling in 5k ppd.

fezzic: what PSU do you have?

I got it sorted out now. Both GPUs pounding away. The PS is an 850 watt PC Power&Cooling Supply. It's got plenty of oomph for the job. What was lacking was the regulator capacity of my UPS. With the monitor now plugged into a non battery outlet its got enough capacity. Of course if the power happens to dump I don't think I have enough run time for the comp to do a orderly shutdown with folding going

The GPU client does require some CPU resources. So you may want to check the folding forums for setup info to make sure there are enough cpu cycles for the GPU client to not become info starved.

I did. It should be getting all the power it needs from the cpu.
1:40 minutes per frame for project 5779 doesnt seem that slow to me.

It may also possibly be the drivers I have installed. I installed some beta drivers a month ago that supposedly gave much better folding performance. That was also right around the time when my 6000ppd dropped to 3500ppd. I should look into getting those downgraded.

Thanks, and welcome back to you, too. :goodjob: on getting the GPU client going.

Thanks and no worries, slow and steady still counts. :)

Please let us know how the VM client works - I'm not OCing my Q6600 (nor will I) and it looks like it is going to be averaging about 1800 PPD running 24/7.

Well, before trying the VM, I went and installed more stable drivers, and what do you know, Im up to almost 10,000ppd.

That this is alive and going so well makes me happy!
