It seems no one picked up his research on this after he ran out of money.
Government probably was like whatever. Or didn't want foreign spies spying with this tech.

Since government is morally neutral in C2C, then it seems like C2C Earth would be in middle of Nanotech era now according to your views.

Satellites could transfer energy using microwave beam - just like microwave power plants in simcity.
This is Nanotech era tech too.

Computers were people, that did the computational work for all sorts of things, banks, insurance firms, space agencies...

The government stole and used most of his stuff, and they refused to pay him royalties which is why he died poor. Our whole electricity system is based on his work. AC is much better for nations than DC (Edison's) is.

BtW Tesla transmission towers were and have been great and work well except
    1. how do you charge for electricity

    2. people already complain about it now. What do you think is causing those electric light tubes to light up when waved by protestors near high power lines. It is broadcast electricity.

Your probably thinking of personal computers in the 80's.

The first electro-mechanical computer was in the late 30's (US Navy). Large computers IBM etc. were available (at a huge price) in the late 40's and 50's. More affordable business computers in the 60's. That's when I became a machine code programmer in 1969 for a specific machine. There were compiler programs available in 50/60's (Fortran/Cobol).

It's still not fair to call it the computer age when the information age is defined by the age of computing taking things to a new level.

That's right and at this point that's pretty much common knowledge but I guess we need to prove that somehow to folks who doubt it. I dunno where proof of all this is - jgi y'know?

Any electric source that is non contained (shielded) broadcasts electricity. I would love to have a source material that actually shows how to build and use the energy.

And, iirc, you were to build a coil, and it so happened that a Power company has transmission lines running the edge of your property, then there are laws that prohibit you from using it without paying a Fee to the local power company. In some states there are distances that may help mitigate the charges. And may keep you out of jail as well.

Looks like very few techs can be researched two or more eras later.
I'm tempted to add connections to minimize those techs, especially change Information Lifestyle OR prereq to AND prereq - tech named "Extreme Sports".
Also some Ancient or Classical era tech can have Elephant/Camel domestication prereq.
@KaTiON_PT what do you think about minimizing amount of techs, that can be unresearched for more than one era?

I edited beginning post to list these techs.

DH prefers there to be more of these rather than less. I only care that the prereqs have logical reasoning.

Well Industrial era is kinda anomalous when it comes to this: Researching optional tech Extreme Sports will leave only one unresearched tech in Industrial when going to Information lifestyle.
Otherwise you have 10 unresearched techs here.

Extreme Sports is one of the Fluff techs that I would like see Removed. What it gives can be move to other techs.

There are quite a few fluff techs that could be removed, like some that give only one modifier or building/unit.

I'm not too keen on removing techs... isn't Extreme Sports valuable as a placement for various units as well?

    No.

It's a :gold::health::culture::) tech that is all fluff.

And the Tech after it Urban Culture does not even require it.

Every building that it gives could be shifted to the 3 Sports techs before it that are it's prereq Techs. But even so none of them are needed by the game. This is a Hydro "going to extremes" tech with buildings that add to the "Too Much Gold" problem. It is Fluff.

It's not like its an underdeveloped tech with nothing in it though. It has a very pointed flavor for the era which really did hit an accurate note as to what happened with development at that time. AND I can see how once I start really caring to develop out units further in that area and beyond, it would very likely introduce some new ones, such as HALO jump paratroopers, for example. (HALO stands for High Altitude Low Opening, which is something our military did develop training for around that time.) It might not make as good a unit as it would make a promotion that could go on a strike team or something as that's usually how it tends to be applied in RL. There are other concepts that could easily be inspired by this as well.

Also, if Urban Culture has an arrow off of it, it indeed does require it unless there's another OR prerequisite that can be met instead. Arrows come off of the first OR prerequisite. ONE of the OR prereqs is always required, it's just up to the player which one they want to go through is all. Yes, it's a little strange a design setup.

Sure it COULD be that all the stuff in that tech could be moved earlier, but I'd rather have techs have less benefits each and be more plentiful and varied than trying to stuff techs full of hundreds of objects to reduce the overall tech count. The goal of the mod is to be as long as we can make it without it feeling pointless and I don't see how this tech feels pointless. It really feels ripe for further development and invites more application, and that's the kind of thing I want to see in the later game when I go to develop further into it with more units and such. You may notice I've really only been looking as far as Medieval so far, but eventually design focus will grow to encompass modern and beyond.

I get why you are identifying this as a fluff tech for elimination but keep in mind that I need stuff like this for eventual further devel work, even if it's completely blank and unfilled.

All I can say to you is I'll never research it. Unless some how I'm forced to do so. Then the irritation of having to research useless stuff erodes the Fun of playing. Endless play like that never works out.

No offense meant, but that is how I see it.

I can respect that. I just see potential and to remove it would be backpedalling away from the point where we make it feel more useful.

Outside of that, I thought that we were supposed to be considering non-military stuff more important...

And here I was under the distinct impression that Combat was The Number One thing for the mod?!!:assimilate: Now where/how did I get that impression??? :hmm::sarcasm:

I develop for that side a lot but it's mostly because others were doing such a great job of developing the builder end that the warfare and strategic stuff was being left without as much depth.

Now you know how I feel about having to research all three horse/elephant/camel techs when I only have one of the animals.
