Glory to Aquilus Regina the Marro-ghrussaieaae of the Necrocracy of Baase, who will lead us with the knowledge of the elder ones to seek the salvation of the necromancer orders and to ensure that death is set in its rightful place in the Great Circle which engulfs all existence!

It is in the interest of the way of the orders of death and of the art of decay that Baasen society learns to face other powers with honest notable aim. The Marro-ghrussaieaae has been in observation of the world. Her wisdom which leads us is ever most grand. As life turns to death so does it come that a nation turns to improve itself by being open to others. The Leighderscaa has voted on a declaration that the Marro-ghrussaieaae has commenced: that of the ecomonic considerations of Baase.

King Damas of the living kingdom of Ajah that although we are far away we are eager to trade with you. Our merchents, travelling in their ghost ships, are eager for the challange of meeting new peoples. We hope to not only trade in goods but to spread the word of death, ensuring your people will heed texts of the way of necromancy, adopting one of the religions of death in the name of embracing the joys that will come when the chains of live are lifted off.

To the empire that is north of us: we of Baase are eager to ensure our continued efforts of glory. We are hopeful of trade between our nations. We would support your cliaments for we too have noted in that the Jiarg family has set plans to establish a port town on the edge. Still a little raven chick has informed us that you might face opposition from the Baltic people.

As to the Mathalamus Empire: Baase will provide you true progress in the form of converting your populace to death if you in the future prove in arrogance against our interests. Still you will be in trade with us.

To the Baltic people: Towl Jiarg will be a good place for a road to link up to so that your people may trade with Baase and learn from our texts the dark arts that will protect from the scorn of the light. We of Baase protect ourselfs from the destruction that chains. We must note that the Jiarg family are eager to have a ecomonic port in your continent and that you will respect the port. Failure to comply is not of wisdom, especilly as it would encourage us to support the empire in the north of us in their claiments, by what ever means needed. Hence allow our port and we support you. Understand?

To the Spice Route League: we hope with Hiarn's arrival that we develop the trade pact needed to ensure furthur glory for our powers. It is in our ecomonic interests to be strong together.

To all other powers we hope our merchents and the preachers of death that will tag along with them will give good represenation of Baasen society. The way of darkness is pure. In this end we hope to spread the word of the destined and set you to be able to embrace your abilities after the chains of live are lifted. To this end we hope you are able to enjoy the signt of our ghost ships.

Death is eternal: so is its virtues.

As before destroying the mini banner set with this letter may result in a curse.

OOC: we are in a 19th century style of steampunk setting Math. None of us our 21st century: we are 19th century.

To quote the OP:
Technology said:
The abundance of hot gas from the surface and the Terium has created a technological base different from Earth’s. Whenever the inhabitants aren’t mercilessly cutting eachother’s throats, their society shows surprising advancement, with energy-based weapons coexisting with objects that look like they came straight out of the steampunk genre. Perhaps the most notable divergence from Earthling technology is that the distinction between navies and air forces does not exist; they are one in the same. With the natural current of the air beneath them and a bit of propulsion, sky fleets have become a reality. Even so, energy keeps them aloft in areas of unsteady support from the pressure below. Nonetheless, the sky islands come complete with sky armada.

I interpreted that as "steampunk, until a level of future roughly equivalent to Earth in Star Trek: Enterprise". Where any and all can and will inevitably coexist within the same state. Further, more advanced along the spectrum (i.e. closer to Enterprise) is not necessarily superior - Terios is just that much different.

And Update I talks about a space station, and camera links. That strains what steampunk can do, at least in my mind. Unless Earth has a strict non-interference clause (and the presence of humans on Terios rather contradicts that, I feel), steampunk is just one part of the anachronistic whole.

Unless I'm wrong, in which case disregard all that.

OOC: I think Tani was talking of pre-20th century with advance techology being WW1 techology. Hence 21st century power would be not a case of this. Fleets are steampunkish or dungeonpunk (as the case of Baase be). What was said was of how fleets be than of techology itself.

so, aircraft carriers are not possible, or even needed, with the sky fleet concept. right, good thing i deliberately avoided describing the navy in fear of power-gaming.

Since the Mathalian navy is all that stands between the enemy and...everything else, we would make it the foremost of Military technology.

so... can battleships or small gunships take the roles of fighters and bombers or something? power projection is important.

OOC: We are in a steampunk age. Airships could take inspiration from the development from the mid to late Victorian age. Aircraft carriers may appear later in the game with the development of fighters but they will possible take design as airships than water ships.

Reminds me... I will need to consider designing my ghost ships....

fine... we will go along with the airships that look really wimpy, but we are moving away from that design as fast as possible.

Depending on how time flows I am afriad you might we set with steampunk airships (which are not wimpy) for some time. If there is a break through it will have to go through the processes.

OCC: I'm not Tani, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't mind if Math used Battleships. I mean we have freaking wizards and robots for Enerjak's sake.

Doge Vittorio Gualtiero Guarneri accepted the Bronze Key of Ezkey, the capital of this serene republic he found himself strangely attached to. His mother had been a servant-turned-whore of one of the merchant families of this city, and his father was a sailor who died in combat against Tri'que pirates. Of course, he was a sailor for one of the merchant families.

As a teenager, Vittorio enlisted in the Merchant Fleet of Ezkey and showed remarkable competence as a sailor. One day, after several years battling pirates, finding love in every port, and successful investments with his meager funds, Vittorio bought his own ship to strike out on his own.

Today, Vittorio Guaneri owns hundreds of ships, employs tens of thousands of people through the Serene Republican Company, has a private army (they're but bodyguards I assure you), and had been elected alongside Silver Key holder Jean Baryl, of the Baryl Family, the same Baryls his mother, bless her, served thanklessly. The same Baryl family his father gave his life for a pittance and that Vittorio sailed for and killed for to protect their profits.

The same Baryl Family he had done all in his power over the last few decades to destroy. If some people noticed the Vittorio Guaneri seemed to have more gold and silver on hand whenever House Baryl Trading Company were targeted by pirates, they didn't voice their suspicions out loud or into the ears of anyone who mattered. Vittorio knew had to keep the lid on the jar sealed.

Doge Baryl and Doge Ermes Aliberti were handed their Silver and Gold keys respectively by the representatives of the Council of Merchants. Since they were returning Doges, Aliberti the longest serving, the keys represented "rank" among the three of them, despite the fact that they should all be equally legally. However, Aliberti lacked the funds and ships of the other two Doges and returned simply because the Ailiberti had once been powerful and Ermes himself is quite friendly to old friends.

There was an air of tension however. Was it a secret that Vittorio and Jean despised each other? Of course not. Jean Baryl, ten years younger and only 35, saw Vittorio, a former servant of the family, as lowborn and scum of the earth. Before Vittorio, there had been no "Guaneri Family" or Serene Republican Company. Baryl supremacy was coming to an end.

And hopefully, so will this system, Vittorio hoped.

Looking to join as a technologicaly curious horde, emanating out of the deepest centre regions of the huge continent. Not sure how the mechanics handle a nomadic culture, though.

If not, some small state with a penchant for nukes ought to do.

Third option, if someone else is thinking of joining: two nations, with a France/Germany, India/Pakistan, Two Koreas sort of relationship.

O Wise GM, how would those sound?

All three ideas are fine. A nomadic culture would probably just have continually shifting borders and a weaker economy (due to not laying down any actual infrastructure to produce with).

to late to join this?

You're free to join. :) Plenty of room!

Update I is inconsequential; that's a nod to the last game I GMed, Multipolarity III, where the Tropicans (part of PATO) managed to build a space station. Basically, the gag is humans are observing Terios from a safe distance, similar to how some theorise aliens are observing Earth but refuse to make contact until we demonstrate we're a peaceful planet. So don't think too much of the actual update.

The actual surface for the most part is going to be Steampunk-esque. While things that resemble lasers likely exist due to the Terium energy source, overall it's an Industrial era.

Andel Nerando, of the house Resdayn projected his thoughts into the art deco skyline of Tel Mora, the capital city of the Resdayns. Andel inherited the clan leadership, after his grandfather passed on from old age. Thus becoming the monarch and the head of the Resdayn Clan, along with blessings from his fellow kinsmen. In the first years of his reign, he set out to expand the Resdayn's borders and enter the world stage after years of self-imposed isolationism.

"Send out our scouts to scour the land for resources for the Dominion." Said Andel as he turned to his aid "The dawn of the Resdayn Dominion in this region is upon us." The dark elf then turned his sights to the Tel Mora skyline.

Ralos Dagoth, the Monarch's Grand Visor approached Andel with a letter from King Damas of Kingdom of Ajah. "Sir, apparently were not alone in opening ourselves to the world. We've just received a letter from King Damas of Ajah, to the north of us." The Grand Visor unferals the scroll and reads the contents of the letter to Andel.

Andel stroked his chin as the Grand Visor recites the letter. "We'll take into consideration on trade between the Kingdom of Ajah and the Resdayn Dominion. Inform them that they can enter the port of Tel Mora for trade." He then thinks for a moment as he looks at the map "We also find that their claims is reasonable to the Dominion, Thus we shall forward our expansion plan."

Andel began to architect the next project for the skyline of Tel Mora, a grand art deco ziggaraut to match the city's art deco ascetics. He was present at the ground breaking ceremony of the Tel Mora Ziggaraut. Destined to be the largest temple within the Dominion. Scouts report back from the mountains and forest valleys of the west. Andel dubbed the region, The Forgotten Vale due to it's mystical views and made incentives for settlers to embark on settleing the lands and prospect the mountains for rich resources for the Dominion. The citizens of Tel Mora and Dagon Fel took advantage of the incentives to make their way westward to find better lives outside the cities. Many took with them silverwood saplings to plant around their settlements.

well, ill describe the Mathalian navy then:

the Mathalian navy, due to its relative importance, receives the most attention technological wise. all of our ships are wooden, with cannons, kind of like ships of the line, but few are that large. there are a few larger civilian ships, for transportation reasons but in times of war, they serve as decent transport ships. we cannot create all metal designs yet, but we are trying hard.

Merchent ghost vessels from Baase are heading to as many powers as possible to ensure trade. While we commence it is in our interest in note that as well as spreading the word of darkness our preachers will also spread a offer: we wish to establish the Colleishdhoo as the most grandest of centres of learning in this world. This is our mission and we wish to open it to all for the requirement to expand our minds. By this we issue the world to set their students to this place to learn the secrets of not only darkness but of history, administration, spiritiual studies, science and other areas that are accessable. Set well and learn well!

In order to secure peace and tranquility on the New Continent The Imperial Government proposes a New Continental Congress to determine the fate of the unclaimed land of the Continent, I propose the creation of Spheres of Influence where each nation has the ability to do what they wish in their own Sphere and cannot interfere in any of the others, all laws within the Sphere of Influence of one nation will be delt with by the nation that controls that Sphere, if there is a law that deals with multiple spheres a the Congress will be called to deal with it.

A propsed map of the Spheres are below, this is all open to debate of course

To the Emperor of the Empire

Baase is unpleased. We have placed plans to have a port on the continent of the Baltic peoples. You have appeared to ignore this. As for how we came to learn of your message that will be a tale of another time but we advice you this: remember us, for death comes no matter who you are, whether your rich or poor. Consider hence Towl Jiarg.

Consider well our consul.

To the Emperor of the Empire

Spheres of influences tend to create conflict in of itself. we appreciate you thinking of us, but as of now, the Mathalamus Empire has no wish to expand beyond our currently defensible position. we need to build up everything on the islands before we consider expanding.

This message is brought to you by MWS Devastator, our flagship.
