Terminator reborn- so as to die for good?

THe name of the movie sounds stupid, but I'm willing to give it a chance.

What annoys me with the Terminator movies for the most part is that each movie completely changes everything. They're not telling one giant story here, it's basically one story piled on top of the other ones, time travel allowing them to do whatever they want. They're ploughing ahead blindly without a grand vision for their "franchise" and just sort of pooping out movies every couple years to make money.

So I would have preferred a lot more continuity between the movies, but I'm interested what they're going with do with this particular release.. sort of. There's almost a 0% chance of me seeing it in the theatre - the movie going experience these days sucks donkey butt, the only way I'll ever go is if it's a VIP theatre with booze and 0 kids.. But that costs double, so I go every couple years. I'm likely catching this Terminator on netflix.

I forget what I might have said about Primer, but I remember finding it interesting and incredibly confusing.

But I mean, my problem with the Terminator franchise isn't that it's a convoluted story, it's that there isn't a story. They're just making it up as they go along, in order to make money. And each time, the story gets re-written with new events that have been shaped by timetravel, or whatever. To me that's a lazy way to maintain a franchise.

So, anyone seen it? (i think it has been released??).

Here is a trailer, which surprisingly was not as horribly bad as i thought it would be- until the very end when it did get exactly as horribly bad as i thought it would be :\

a Terminator movie with Ahnold can not go wrong !

July 1, 2015 release date.

It says the whole plot is rebooted. Well, tbh i'm fangirling this franchise as much as Matrix one, i would watch it even it's hollywood to the core as long as there is a strong sci-fi plot.

Honestly, I'm kinda excited. There's a lot there that seems to be really well-designed, storywise.

And, really, if any franchise can reboot coherently, it's a time-travel one.

This one actually looks better than the last 2 - or at least like it has the potential of being better. I didn't even really mind the last 2 movies, but they weren't that great either.

What I don't like it is how they just keep changing the story in each movie, by involving more and more time travel. Eventually the storyline is going to be such a tangled mess, that they're going to need to do a reboot.

The title is stupid, but I will probably watch this once it's out on the.. .. .. internet.

I shall use my clairvoyancy to tell you that one of the main lines that this movie will be remembered would be "We must.. shut down sys64!".

Send your bottles of whiskey to Ruse, Bulgaria, thank you very much.

No, sir. Born in the flat, boring and level Danube ravine. Most likely place to die there, too, once I (foolishly) move to a place with a dam.

It also means that if the Russians decide to cross the Danube once more, I'll be the first one to throw flowers towards our liberators. How nice.

And, really, if any franchise can reboot coherently, it's a time-travel one.

You're joking, surely. How can a time-travel story be anything but incoherent?

Or do you mean "coherent" as in the sense of doing exactly as they please? In which case, sure.

Stanley "Tookie" Williams...
...keeps me highly dissuaded from paying to see any Arnold movies.

I thought this was supposed to be a redo of Terminator 1 not Terminator 2. Probably for the best, Terminator 1 is too good to remake.

I actually recently rewatched Terminator 1.. and I didn't think that it aged very well at all.. T2 on the other hand.. All IMO of course

Interesting. I saw both of them for the first time recently. T1 about 3ish years ago and T2 about one year ago. I had the reverse view haha

T2 is one of my all-time favourite movies. It's one of those rare movies I can watch over and over and over, and it never gets old. The special effects still sort of stack up to what's possible today - they don't really look out of place to me.. while parts of T1 seem a bit amateurish. It takes me away from the story, in T2 that doesn't happen.

I think I also had a certain perception of what T1 was like.. I watched it when I was younger.. then when I watched it again recently, it just didn't look like what I thought it looked like. Meanwhile I know exactly what T2 looks like. That also adds to this sentiment.
