Terms you're tired of hearing...

Also, inflation is the real culprit. Supposedly, (I have no cites, just my memory) gas was more expensive, adjusted for inflation, in the 1970's.

And of course, I support the separation of church and state precisely because I am a believer.

Seperation of Church and state - There's about .5% athiests in this country (USA), and and 1/4 of them have to complain about anything that hints at God.
Estimates vary, but many suggest the number who don't believe in God or are non-religious are higher than that, perhaps 5%-15% (e.g., see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_atheism ).

And seperation of church and state is important no matter how many non-religious people there are, and it's also important if you are religious.

[*]Support the troops, not the mission. - Attempt by U.S. liberals to dupe normal Americans that the leadership of the Democratic Party actually likes the U.S. military. Truth is, they don't.
Strange, I've heard this coming from the pro-war people. The idea being that even if you were against the war, you should now support what action is being taken, because otherwise it's not nice for the troops. And yes, it's an illogical argument, as you say.

Perhaps what you have heard is a counter-argument to this - e.g., saying that just because you are against the war, that doesn't mean you have anything against the troops, or disagree with having an army in general. I don't see any evidence for people not liking the military - do you have a source where they advocated getting rid of the army altogether? The issue is with the Government who directs them, or the way they are managed.

[*]War for Oil. - If we just wanted the oil, we would have taken it.
I don't think this is a problem with the phrase. And it's more complicated than that - this isn't like Civilization where you just want to grab the land with the resource! It's better just to make sure the oil is in friendly land, and can't be held to ransom.

[*]End the occupation of [cause-of-the-week]! - So which is it this time, "Palestine", Iraq, Afghanistan, Northern Ireland? (By the way, how come the Western Sahara never gets any attention? It's probably because most ac-uhh-demics probably couldn't find it on a map.)
[/list]
I thought it was most Americans who can't find Iraq on a map.

But I'm not sure what you mean by "cause-of-the-week". I don't see what's implicitly wrong about being against a particular occupation, and there is no evidence such people change their mind every week.

So another term I'm tired of hearing of: "Cause-of-the-week" - a term made up by the bleeding-heart conservatives to misleadingly pretend that a viewpoint is temporary like some kind of fad.

Another term I'm tired of hearing of: "The Liberals" - where the viewpoints concerned often have nothing to do with a particular political viewpoint; also where being "liberal" is now seen as simply not having an extreme right-wing fascist viewpoint (i.e., even a middle-of-the-road viewpoint is branded "liberal" if someone disagrees with it); it's got to the stage where "Liberal" is used as an insult.

Cause and effect
shred
ripp it up(yes with two p's)
tear it up
go nuts

me and my friends play guitar so i get to hear these alot and it gets old, its funny becuase only the crappy players say this stuff whenever one of the vets starts playing fast and stuff, the other vets ussually just nod in approval or say something to the effect "that sucks".

"Seperation of Church and State"-It's not in any government document or rules. Yet anything even remotely religious, even if it isn't sponsered by the government, is verboten. Yet "Right to Bear Arms", which is directly in the Constitution, we are supposed to ignore.

Anything relating Bush to a warmonger-He's less of a warmonger than FDR was.

People complaining about gas prices, and then not changing their lives one bit-if people aren't going to lower the amount of gas they buy, the price is obviously not "too high".

Cubs-they suck. get over it.

"You're in time-out"
It makes no sense and it is unthinkable that I would have ever been so blind as to actually go along with sitting in a corner and not doing anything for up to 30 minutes while all the other kids are playing.

"I hate George Bush!"
Well, he probably hates you too. And so do I.

"My IQ is..."
The number of people who actually care is...

"George Bush is racist"
Which is why he appointed Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell as part of his political team.

Anything like Your Mom, Yo Momma, Your Face, Chuck Norris, or anything else stated by a 4th Grader and up - Need I say more.

Your Mom comebacks I often invoke for the pure comedy in using such an immature comeback. Its the overuse that makes it funnier when not being re-used in a serious matter.

World War III
Horrible Economy
Fascists

Well, it's not so much a term, but I'm tired of mediocre people blaming "political correctness" for their failures.

Love your Country.
National Pride.
God Bless America.

One things that bugs me is the use of the word "fighter" by the media to describe Hezbollah members, and members of other terrorist organizations. Due to the current unpleasantness in Lebanon, I keep hearing that "x numbers of Hezbollah fighters were killed". Maybe it is just me, but whenever I hear the term fighter, the first thought that springs to my mind is an F-16 or a similar plane, not a bearded guy with an AK-47. :crazyeye:
