-Invades Myentalapuringaw. Gains initiative and captures the capital Yadangomandara. Surprisingly effective enemy citizen infantry styme attempts to control the countryside, and Yadangomandara starves. The surviving “Dictator” forms a new state of refugees and citizen soldiers, then allows elections only among the warriors. The new Federation of Myentalapuringaw is a vassal state to an expanded Kingdom of Chyangphyawngari. Due to Myentalapuringaw’s survival, current occupied land remains unstable.
-Attempts to build an organized irrigation system. After several failures, a working drainage system was completed (and survived) near their capital. New engineering knowledge will help future endeavours.

-More agriculture is successful in increasing population, but also decreasing size of the levy in proportion to the population as labor becomes more important.
-Levies near the southern borderlands begun to train semi-regularly and take their status more seriously than others. Their council members similarly gain influence.

-Wergaia attack the Ngarrindjeri and destroyed them. Refugees fled to the Karta of Kangaroo Island, who maintain scouting outposts to prevent a Wergaian fleet from forming.

Mesopotamia

The Otterman Empire
-Invasion of the Holy Euphrates Empire
-Naval control was quickly gained, but raiding by horse is less effective initially, due to the necessity of crossing over to hostile shores. Raiding by ship comes to the fore.
-Euphrates Army caught initial crossing only partially completed. Used phalanx formation to push the toehold into the current and chariots to run down survivors. Driven away by archer fire and then light horsemen as the rest of the army crosses.
-First city fell after a short siege, the archers clearing the walls and the infantry overwhelming the militia. It was put to the river.
-Next city surrendered to the Ottermans... then, after the army entered, the militia closed the gates, set fire, and fled. Many died. Several wish to reconsider mercy to the “Demon Spawn” that all shall be put to the river. Others blame the militia “Demons” who came from the Demon Capital itself, and that the city-folk were blameless and are actually victims of the Demon King.
-Republic of Antioch invades the north of the Holy Euphrates Empire after insults and demands by the Euphrates and support by the Ottermans. The Euphrates defense quickly melts away. All of Mesopotamia falls under the Ottermans.
-Beyond the Euphrates the Holy Empire tenaciously hands into existence, calling their desert allies to help them and plugging the river with treacherous traps. They defeat the Antioch army and forced them to make peace after threatening Antioch itself.
-Mesopotamia currently an unproductive and blasted wasteland due to the march of armies and the flow of refugees to the Holy Euphrates rumps state.

NPC’s
-Republic of Antioch invades the Holy Euphrates Empire, but although distracting, their army ultimately failed and they sued for peace after the Holy Euphrates put Antioch in an unbreakable siege.
-[Cyprus] extends protection over [Phoenician] city states.

-Role Playing Challenge! The war in the Holy Euphrates was tougher than expected and promised, and the intermingling of peoples that never occurred before brings forth new perspectives and ideas. What are they, and how do you respond?

Indus Valley
Ghaggar​
-Continues conversion efforts from the pyromaniatic faith of the Vedics to the civilized faith of the Great Cycles. Pretty successful, as this was their main focus. The Savalda though, threatened Ghaggar if they send any more monks into their territory.

NPC’s​
-Many of the converted Vedics join Taxila, increasing it’s influence and securing the alliance between the Ghaggar and Taxila
-A group of Great Fire worshipping chiefs form a brotherhood dedicated to burning Ghaggar down and ending the Great Cycle once and for all. Rumors has it that they are supported by Savalda.
-The Great Vedic Kingdom, after vassalizing Lothal, invades [Baluchistan]. They now have a large fearsome army of nomadic light horsemen to suppliment their already formidable forces. However, their new vassals worship a different religion, and the region they control is inherently unstable.

Other​
-Role Playing Challenge! The Great Cycle (Hinduism) and The Great Fires (Zoroastrianism) are both based on real religions. What major differences can there be seen so far?
-New Players Requested! The Great Vedic Kingdom has great power and influence, but has a precarious position. Taxila is an equal partner to Ghaggar as supported of the Great Cycle. Lothar is a defeated client state, but has good southern trade prospects. Savalda is a rival of Ghaggar, and they by themselves are more or less equal, and are still more or less equal when their allies are included.

-Raiding VERY successful, after all, this is what the Manx do. Ulster is culled repeatedly. Southern clans respond by building watchtowers and patrol fleets.
-Mining not very successful, although introduction of Ulster slaves into the pits releases able bodied men for future raiding.
-Agriculture wasn’t very successful during this time, as no new processes were invented. Food production from Lerphyoll does help feed the growing population of slaves and warriors.

Alrighty. Guys, in your orders post your preferred update interval and then your acceptable update intervals. The times are: 100, 50, 25, 20, or 10. I would really prefer not 10. I would also like you all to consider how primitive current society is (Late Archaic), in comparison to where we're going (Classical Era) and where we'll be (Early Modern). Also, if the interal is shorter than 25, I might need to retcon the update a TINY bit. This is added to the end of the update.

Just a suggestion, but can you use imgur instead of imageshack for hosting the picture of the world? Imageshack is of a lower quality than imgur. But anyway, to the commands!

Country: Ostrian Republic.
Government: Republican.
Capital: Stadt des Palastes, where modern-day Hamburg is.
Economy: Weakened by the raids by Stafia. Now on par with the local tribes.
Tech Development: Early Composite Bows. Bronze Working. Hunting. Large-Scale Agriculture. Animal Husbandry. Early Catapults. Horsemanship.
Culture: Stablizing, by the poets and painters making great works which honor the Republican's warmongering as the wrath of Thur against the barbarians.
Religion: Same old, same old, but the idea of Thur is spreading throughout the Republic.
Army: The first Truppe begins mobilizing to strike through Denmark and conquer Stafia in revenge for the raids, the second Truppe takes over as the guard for Stadt des Palastes, and the third Truppe continues conquering the southern barbarians.
Navy: Still no official navy, but most the boats in the north sea who works for gold are now flying the Ostrian colours, due to the major campaign by the first Truppe.

Country: Ostrian Kingdom.
Government Structure: The Despot rules over everyone, but, due to how peaceful the kingdom is compared to the republic, nearly all the kings under the Kingdom are not bossed about by the Despot, with the ones who decide to declare independence having to follow precise orders from the Despot in revenge.
Government: Despotism
Capital: Neue Heimat, which is where London is.
Economy: Poor, but the free trade allows them to slowly become the next big trade hub.

Religion: Freedom to worship any religion has left the Kingdom a mixed bag of all sorts of faiths and whatnots. However, the Despot and his family worship Thur, hence how they call Britain the 'Great Terra Longboat'.
Army: Mainly recruits from the local tribes, but the elite knights who survived the trip are the strongest fighters around. Relatively, that is.
Navy: A few mercenary longboats, and only that.

*The Republic conquest some territory overall, but mainly the barbarians in Denmark*
*The Republic rallies up some fishermen, in the attempts of forming a navy*
*The Kingdom settles down it's new capital in the area near London, the size of territory gained is based on how many survived the trip to it*

*The Kingdom also enacts a foreign policy which focus on peaceful interaction with tribes, and the ability for said tribes to join the Kingdom if they request for a bunch of perks. Said perks are having your town/village secure from invaders without needing to form a army, free tax-free trade between other towns/villages in the Kingdom, and not being bossed around too much by the lasy benevolent Despot*

OOC: Because I did not posted any RP for the last update and done injustice to this, I have decided to write an RP for this update.

The New Emperor

Emperor Phillip was a 63 years old man, tough by the many wars and a lover of war. He had fought against the Barbarians in many campaigns. In this latest campaign, Phillip led 100,000 against the Barbarians and achieved a truly amazing victory in Thessalonica, taking over the capital of the Northen Barbarians. His son, Alexander, on the other hand, liked women and wine. Phillip knew that his son would ruin his empire, but he was wise enough to marry his, now 25 years old, daughter Helena with his best general, the 29 years old Constantine.

Constantine was following Phillip in his latest campaign, but Alexander, just 17 years old, was enjoying himself with several concubines. But one June day, a messenger came in the palace with news that would shock Alexander. The messenger, named Andreas, found Alexander in his room, drinking wine and kissing a concubine. Alexander greeted the messenger as a friend. Because Andreas was his friend and was very loyal to Alexander. He knew Andreas since when they were children. The one was going to be Imperial Prince, the other was trained to become a messenger. But this did not prevent them from becoming close friends.

"Andreas, what is it?"

"Sir, I bring a message from the North. "

"What?"

"Your...your.....your father.....your father is dead."

"What?! I cannot believe it! Just a few weeks ago, he was defeating the Barbarians in the North!!"

"I am sorry, sir."

"So, that means that I am the Emperor?"

"Yes, but as a friend, I want to warn you that the army is loyal to Constantine, not you. If Constantine uses his support in the army and his marriage with your sister, he could both overthrow you and be able to justify it."

"How many soldiers do we have in the capital?"

"20,000 to 30,000 soldiers, sir. Constantine has an army of 100,000 battle hardened men. He can march any time he wants in the capital. Better speak to your sister and learn of what they plan now that Phillip is dead."

"I will do this."


As Alexander prepares to leave his room, his concubine stops him.

"Alex, what I will do alone? We have not finished yet........."

"Andreas!"

"Yes, sir."

"Keep company to her."

"Bur, sir......"

"It is an order. Now, I have to leave. Andreas, enjoy yourself, while you still can. She is very good."


Alexander leaves his room laughing. A few minutes later, he is outside his sister's room and knocks the door. Helena opens the door and allows Alexander to enter her rooom.

"My brother, what are you doing here?"

"Don't you know of our father's death?"

"Of course I know it. For this reason, Constantine is coming to the capital with 68,000 soldiers, to secure order in the Empire and proclaim the new Emperor based on the last will of our father."

"I am the Emperor, sister."

"Who says that?"

"I am the only son of our father. And, as you know, only males can take the throne."

"There is now law about that. It is just a tradition. And, anyway, our father's will was that I get the throne."

"What will?"

"Our father gave Constantine his last will and he is coming to the capital to give it to you."

"What do you mean?"

"In his letter, Constantine said that Phillip's last will, which he opened, says that he want me to become Empress."

"You know this will not happen! Also, how do I know that the will is not fake?"

"You will know it when Constantine come here with his soldiers and gives it to you."

"You know, I could order your execution right now!"

"With what powers? You are not the Emperor. Not to say that even if you kill me, Constantine will get so mad that your body will cut into pieces. Literally."

"It is war, then."


Before Helena could react, her brother pulled out a knife and stabbed her nine times. Helena fell on the ground dead with her blood all over the room. Suddenly, a young boy came inside the room.

"Mom...mom!!!! Uncle, what have you done to my mom?"

Alexander was at first surprised. The young boy was his 9 years old nephew, Theodoros. Alexander knew that the boy would be a danger to his plans to take the throne. So, instead of a reply to the young kid's question, he stabbed him and killed him.

"I will become the Emperor, no matter who I have to kill."

Alexander leaves his sister's room with his hands red with the blood of his own sister and 9 years old nephew. He then calls a council of all three military commanders of the forces in the capital. The three military commanders are Nikos, Aggelos and Karolos.

"My commanders, I, as Emperor of Greece, order you to gather all of your forces. We shall begin a campaign."

While Nikos and Aggelos did not object, Karolos was against the campaign.

"Sir, I believe that your claim to the throne is illegal! I will only follow orders from Constantine, the heroic man who defeated the Barbarians in one battle after the other and Helena, who is the true heir to Philip. Long live Emperor Constantine and Empress Helena!!!"

Alexander, without wasting time, pulled out his knife and stabbed Karolos. With Karolos red with his blood and dying, Alexander talked once again to his commanders.

"Does anyone objects my orders?"

Both Nikos and Aggelos say with one voice "No, sir" and leave to prepare their men. The next day, everything is ready. Alexander himself would lead this campaign, the first time he commands an army. He will set up an ambush as Thermopyles and he will destroy Constantine's army.Alexander divided his army into two groups. Group A, under the command of Nikos, would go North with 10,000 soldiers and will move through Epirus and then go again down towards the Thermopyles from the north. Group B, with 7,000 soldiers, under the command of Aggelos and Alexander, would got to Thermopyles from Athens. Alexander's plan was to trap the 68,000 soldiers of Constantine in Thermopyles and then his armies would attack from both north and south. Alexander tried to make sure that Constantine would not learn what happened to the capital, and so Constantine would not be prepared for a battle.

Alexander's plan was a great success. As Constantine's army passed through the Thermopyles, Alexander's armies ambushed them by attacking from both North and South, closing all routes out of the pass. More than 23,000 enemy soldiers and 5,000 of Alexander's men died, before Constantine's generals decided to betray him and surrender. So the hero of the many barbarian wars, the man who defeated one Barbarian army after the other, Constantine, one fo Greece's greatest generals of all time, was surrendered by his generals to Alexander. Alexander showed no mercy. He had Constantine and all of his 23,000 soldiers impaled and left them in the road that links Thermopyles to Athens, so everyone could see the impaled bodies of those men. So, after killing his sister, his brother in law, his 9 years old nephew, the brave general Karolos and 23,000 Greek soldiers, Alexander was Emperor of Greece.
 
Looking at the style of stories so far, would you guys want me to make the updates with a shorter passage of time? Say, 25 years? Original plan was 1 part with 100 years and 2 with 50, which will take us 2000 years to the late classical/early medieval age. However. 25 year updates, with current consistency, can also work.
 
I would prefer 4 or 5 years updates.
 
Possibly, due to the style of this NES. Still, 5 year updates necessitates 600 updates to the modern age. That's 10 updates a month, 120 updates a year, 5 years for 3000 years of history.

Also, I will drastically slow down rates of settlement, conquest, and development.
 
25 or 20 years updates seems better to me, as there is no major pauses, and what-nots. It also doesn't require five Real-Life years for a full 3000 years of history.

Fortunately the rules are a bit iffy around NESing forums and a forum moderator can unlock your PM capability for you if you inform them.
 
Raiders

Blood and sand, iron and death. These four things covered the shoreline of the beach, the waves gently lapping and sliding across the smooth surface of the sand. Fletched arrows pricked the ground and stood upright, some being washed out to see as the waves came in and out, in and out, while swords, axes, warhammers, and others lay gripped in their master's hands or in the shallows where they had been dropped. A broken and burned longboat sat in a shallow pool of water, which it had barely gotten into before the tide had sucked the water out and the fiery arrows of the fearful inhabitants of this land smashed into the deck and made it burn as a pyre for those that were trapped aboard. Bodies covered the beach, dozens, hundreds, perhaps even thousands, struck down and quiet in death as they had never been in life. Militiamen dead with spears still in their hands, the few raiders that had been slain streaked with blood and covered in gore.

The seagulls alighted down from the sky on the broken forms many times as the foamy waves washed over their forms, the sun sliding down below the horizon line ever so slowly. Crows and ravens came down as well, and the squabbling shrieks of these birds fighting over choice bits of meat from the fallen echoed across the grim and silent beach. Crabs and others as well crawled up from the shallows to snap at these human husks, regarding them curiously with wide, unblinking eyes. A few feral dogs, and even a wolf or two, dashed amongst them, fighting over an arm, or a leg, or a rib that had been torn out of a body through the iron armor that they wore. Snarls and caws and shrieks echoed, but even with all of that, it was deathly quiet, eerily so.

The raiders returned soon, laughing and joking with another while hauling chests of plunder and pushing women and children in front of them. Any woman over the age of twenty four had been slaughtered. Male children over the age of fourteen had seen the same. As for the men and the elderly, there were not enough of them left to make a difference and with no food and a winter fast approaching, they would be dead within a few weeks. A few drunkards slapped each other and made vile jokes about each other's captives and the raiders own mothers, but that was about as wild as it got at this point.

The longships appeared in the distance, trundling towards the shore as swiftly as they could muster and with open and wide sails. They landed, the captives pushed aboard and stored in the hold as if they were cattle and such, followed by the chests and the plunder that the raiders had taken. Then the weapons that they recovered from their fallen brothers and the militiamen, and finally the raiders themselves. The sun began it's final descent as the moon rose, giving a last farewell for this day as the raiders made their way back home, further up into the Jutland.

In time though, years later, they would be back. This time, with conquest and with more than just pillaging on their mind. And the Stavii would break like the small nation of Yasha would break, so near to the ancestral homeland.

Several more things to note, which will go on front page.

1) When your nation collapses/splinters, I will allow 1 turn for a player to play ALL the splinters to establish character, but after that the player MUST make a choice.
2) Players are free to characterize their neighbors, but I have final say over NPC characterization. Sometimes, their characterization is just a point of view. On the other hand, they are entirely free to characterize themselves culture wise, with the same caveat of able to justify oneself.

Army: For a boy to be considered a man,he has to join the army,be it land or naval forces.
Navy: Not too big,but large enough to secure trade with the different nations that exist within the periphery of Quiltec.
Economy: Trade with the surrounding nations is the biggest source of income for Quiltec.There is ofcourse fishing and a really small part comes from agriculture.
Religion: There is a pantheon,with great importance being held by the Sea god.
Stability: Stable.

ORDERS:

1.Our nation is small and suffers from overpopulation.We must expand our diplomatic ties with the people in the north Island(Cuba) and create small colonies that will eventually expand with the help of the local population.

2.Invite tribes from the eastern island(Modern day Haiti and Dominical Republic) to join the Quiltec and become part of the federation.Promise them seats for their prominent tribal members in the Council of Tribes.

3.To the west lies a lucrative land for trading.Send ships to secure trade with the natives in those lands,hoping to spread the Quiltec culture and religion through trading.

4.Begin the construction on ships and the research on how these ships could further be improved to travel further into the Continent of Gods(America).
