Was he crazy all along or is he cracking only recently, I wonder...

He's always been a bit eccentric. I think this is one of the first times people have turned on him for one of his 'good deeds' rather than attacking his companies on various grounds. It looks like his ego just couldn't handle it.

You can never really trust those Silicon Valley bros. I wonder why some who profess to be left-wing like them and that culture so much.

I think Oscar Isaac did a brilliant job portraying that archetype in Ex Machina.

Note that Musk considered public transit "painful" as well, agreeing with many Republicans to some extent.

Musk also considered himself socialist as well. Musk is strongly in favour of fighting climate change (hence Tesla Motors).

Musk says one thing to one group of people and says another thing to another group. Musk was a member of Zuck's organization (and Zuck also donated to both parties).
