"Minoa" isn't a proper term for the Minoan civilization--the word "Minoa" doesn't occur in any historical source, and archaeologists and historians usually refer to Minoan Crete or the Minoan period. Since we can't read what little writing the Minoans left behind, and we don't know what language they spoke, we don't know what they called themselves, or what their palaces and towns were called. They're named after a mythical ruler of Crete, Minos, and their major cities--Knossos, Phaistos, Malia, Zakros, Mochlos, etc. are named after later Greek towns and villages at or near the same sites. So it's redundant to include the Minoans at all, since the names are Greek; but if you put them in, I think you should use "Minoan Crete" or just "Crete" as the country name, with "Minoan" as the adjective, and "Minos" as the ruler.
"Aboriginies" should be spelled "Aborigines". This term doesn't exclusively refer to Australian Aborigines, either--even native Americans can be referred to as "Aborigines," so maybe there's a uniquely Australian term? Anyway, I don't think they are a civilization, because the Australian natives had many different languages and tribes, and didn't have a unified culture or political system. Probably fun city names though.
"Cathrage" should be "Carthage".

Actually, Minoa is the best word one could use there.
Aborigines-The city names I got from a mod from Civ 3.
Aemilius Paulus said:Minoa isn't a real name for the Minoan "country". It's a made-up word; you won't find archaeologists or historians using it; they consistently use "Minoan Crete" or "Minoan civilization." As an example, see http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ancient/minoan_01.shtml. Like I said above, we don't know what the Minoans called themselves or their cities (and they probably didn't think of themselves as a civilization or a country, but as a bunch of independent kingdoms or cities), but no one calls this geographical area "Minoa." (Minoa is actually a town in New York.) Making up this word is a bit like deciding the country to the north of the United States ought to be called "Canadia." I'd still urge you to use "Crete" or "Minoan civilization."
Cool, as long as everything's spelled right...Civ 3 bugged the heck out of me when the names of barbarian tribes were spelled wrong, especially since it would have been so easy to fix by taking a couple of minutes with a dictionary.
Looking forward to seeing the mod!
I'm not going to use Crete or "Minoan Civilization." There is a present-day Crete so people might get confused with that. Minoan Civilization just sounds plain awful. What if Mali was called Malian Civilization the whole game?
Aemilius Paulus said:Agree about Minoan Civilization sounding bad, but why not Crete? It's not going to be any more confusing for people than having city names like Knossos, Phaistos, Malia, etc. which are places in modern-day Greece. Most people playing the mod will either know something about the Minoans anyway, so I doubt they'll confuse this civ with classical or modern Greece. You could have the long name be "Minoan Crete", the short name be "Crete", and the adjective be "Minoan".
Plus, the Minoans might have been calling themselves Cretans and their land Crete. It seems that the Egyptians referred to the Minoans as "Keftiu" and the Bible (perhaps) refers to their land as "Kaftor." These might be ancient versions of Cretans and Crete. If this is true, then "Crete" might be the most historically accurate name for the Minoan homeland.

I would also like to voice the idea, as suggested further upthread, that Hawaii might better be used for another civ and merely incorporated into the Polynesians. Aren't the Touregs just a sub group of Berber? Same with Pakistan. Perhaps a Toureg/Paki leader for each instead? Maybe Otherwise, you might try organizing the regions each group belongs to on the first post to give some perspective on things. Maybe even get a blank world map and label it?
And sorry, but who are the Kazhaks? Wikipedia has never heard of them.
Thank you for reading my questions/concerns.

Game play is just as important as lots of civs, u should make more units. eg instead of modern armour u could let america have m1 abrams, uk have challengers, Germany leopard 2's, russia t?? and so on. u should also make units be able to be sold to other countries because most countries don't make their own or at least all of their military hardware eg Australia just brought 60 m1 abram tanks off the u.s.
So u would get countries that are good friends with russia buying russian tanks and countries that are good friends with the u.s buying u.s tanks like in real life. eg china, N. Korea iran etc use old russian tanks and countries like suadi arabia and Australia use u.s tanks. doesn't just have 2 b for tanks either.
Anyway there should b alot more units 2 pick from. eg no less than 5 of every kind... five different attack helicopters also airlifting helicopters, five different kinds of infantry, tanks, u name it. there should b things like the c5 which is one of the biggest airlifting planes in the world that allows you to fly your troops far around the world... theres nothing like spending 40 turns geting to the other side of the world to go to war!! These might seem far fetched but u should build like 20 decent civs and weed out all the other crap and focus on gameplay options thanks for reading.
And if they don't? Then what? What will all this have been for? Besides, don't people have enough trouble running Civ4 at the present civ limit?jcikal said:Hopefully the Firaxis team will be sensitive to our needs of voiding the 18-Civ clause on the program.
