The American Mod

It's probably the "double folder" problem.
In your BtS\Mods\American Mod Revolutions v.5 folder there should be a folder "Assets", an .ini file, and probably some more stuff. Then the installation is correct.
But it sounds like if there's another American Mod Revolutions v.5 in the first American Mod Revolutions v.5 folder. Please check it, is that right? If yes, then move everything from the second folder in the first folder, and check again if it works.

I've spent the last few days playing your initial release, I'm on here as much as I should be as I just got the most update version. Anyway, I have played your mod for a few days and the only thing that I would add would be the Advanced Diplomacy 2 mod. Since having been in the armed forces and having sons in combat I do not like to waste either gold or my "citizens" lives if a diplomatic solution is possible. I think this would give a player more options to that end. Don't get me wrong, I will roll over and take a barbarian city in a heart beat and if another leader becomes annoyed or furious with me I will build up my forces and do everything I can to get HIM to declare war on me. But I do think peaceful means are better and more difficult to play especially if one does not willingly change civics or religions because someone else demands it. Better to win the space race and leave the rest on a polluted world.

Thanks! That was indeed the problem

Glad it's working, in other news Economists are done and Traitors should be next.

I'll look into it, it should have dll changes though, so I'd have to merge the two and recompile (which I don't know quite how to do). I think it would be a good addition to the mod, but I probably won't get to it until the "base", with all the civilizations and civilopedia and diplo etc. are done.

Love the mod so far. It's quite fun to watch the cities revolt against you. ;) I really like the premise of the game.

So as these categories near completion (I only have 4 or so more civs to go!) I think I will go with the "Geographic Area" idea, subdividing America into a couple different parts such as California Bear Flag Republic, Olympia/Pacific Northwest, Midwest, Great Plains, Deep South, Southwest, Deseret (maybe), and the Eastern Seaboard/Thirteen colonies. Give me some suggestions for more areas and leaders. Also, if I were to do this, should it be a part of the standalone mod or should I have a separate downloadable module?

I agree that you should keep it in the mod. I can help research specific areas if you need help with that.

Ok, I could probably use help with the Pacific Northwest, I'm not too familiar with much of anything coming out of that area ;). Also, Great Plains could maybe use some work, but I figure that it will be mostly the various Plains Indians with some others thrown in if I find them.

Also, scenario idea: A fractured United States, it's (insert date here, in an alternate history where all these leaders could exist at the same time) and the United States has crumbled into various factions all intent on consolidating power over the American continent with cities in realistic locations for each civ and leader.

Alright ill work on it now, shouldnt take to long. Im going to do american cities, not native american, so if you want to add those youll need to edit those

have you ever seen the tv series Jericho? Basically America gets nuked and while rebuilding the country splits into three sides, Texas, west and east (easts capital is Columbus, OH and west is somewere in Whyoming dont remember exact name) Then Texas joins east and theres a civil war. Im not saying you should do a scenario on taht, but it could inspire another idea. I dont htink america will ever go through a civil war, its much more likely we do, due to an outside force

Alrighty sounds like a plan. just tell me when you need everything by and I shall send you it. And scenario sounds fun.

Version .6 is up, Traitors, economists, and button borders oh my!

Enjoy :).

EDIT: Version .7 will have my final two initial civs, Patriots and Abolitionists, after I decided to drop Rebel Leaders (most were abolitionists anyways) and Compromisers. Then I'll begin work on the regional civs and once that's done, a couple of scenarios :). I'll also try getting some custom art for the units and buildings in as well during that time, as well as civilopedia and diplo entries.

I'm letting the game autoplay to see how the AI develops. I decided just for fun to turn dynamic civ names on and got some funny results "Empire of Industrial", "Traitor Republic" etc. I was quite amused

Wow, seems like the mod has come really far since I last checked... I'll get the latest version and see how it works.

Being a native of California I'd add Randsburg, Havila, Monterey, Ventura and Santa Barbara along with Tahoe and Redding to the to the list. The first two were gold towns to the east of Bakersfield in the late 1800's, my great grandfather was a blacksmith in Randsburg, and the last three were mission towns established by the Spanish with Montery being the Spanish colonial capital. Aside from the cities that in NoCAl, most of what is listed gained prominence only in the last 50-75 years, mostly SoCal and the Desert Empire. If you wish I could help out with the California Republic if you'd like.

One thing that I would add for grins, since our last Governor was Austrian I always thought that he should have used the CA National Guard and annexed Las Vegas and Reno to solve our states fiscal problems.

Alright, will add those cities. I'm thinking that I'll use this flag

And for leaders I'm not sure at all. There's Fremont but beyond that I know next to nothing, especially concerning UUs and UBs (because I need 3). Basically, any help at all would be appreciated :).
