Katie Couric leaving CBS Evening News Katie Couric finally has confirmed what we all suspected: She’s leaving “CBS Evening News.”

Because what would this week be without a Kate in the news? Sorry, Middleton. Your time will come on Friday.

In an interview with People magazine, Couric said: “I have decided to step down from the CBS Evening News. I'm really proud of the talented team on the CBS Evening News and the award-winning work we've been able to do in the past five years in addition to the reporting I've done for 60 Minutes and CBS Sunday Morning. In making the decision to move on, I know the Evening News will be in great hands, but I am excited about the future."

Yada yada yada. But where will she find herself next? Couric doesn’t really say -- "I am looking at a format that will allow me to engage in more multidimensional storytelling," she said.

Until then, she’s got the royal wedding to cover. See, Middleton!

I just flat out could not take CBS news seriously with Katie at the anchor desk.

So the trend has been that legitimate news people on TV have been replaced with the spokesmodels that happen to look good on TV. My local NBC broadcast, for example, has chicks hotter than most Hollywood actresses. Do you think the trend will be towards more spokesmodels, or back to actual reporters?

I approve of this. If only Schieffer could take over.

Also, rumor has it that Couric and Lauer (I think that's how it's spelled) will join up on another show.

Multidimensional storytelling? Perhaps she is going to get a couple of blackboards and replace Beck at Fox News. :p

Why can't we have babelicious actual reporters? Looks and brains I say.

Connie Chung was pretty hot:

It doesn't really matter, all they do is read script. It's just as vain to choose an older intellectual looking guy because he's credible as it is to choose a model because she's hot. At least with the latter no one's kidding themselves.

Well that depends on who is doing to work on researching and writing the story :p

Wait, what difference does it make? It's not like they're doing anything but reading off teleprompters, is it?

Well, again, that depends on who is investigating and writing the stories. Now I know the anchor usually isn't, but in the old days the reporter you saw was the reporter that created the story. Now there needs to be behind the scenes writers.
