The Boeing Thread

Department of War was a less ****eating term from a different era. So would be Department if the Interior for Department of Homeland Defense. Eedjit terms.

We could just call it the Department of Killing People and Taking Their Stuff, and finally dispense with all pretension. That’s my preference.

I figure "war" covers that, its never been any different. If it was it wouldn't be war.

If we renamed it perfectly, I'd approve, but we'd definitely still have derps that get pretentions about killing people and taking their stuff. Like Jack in Lord of the Flies.

Not at all. War is beautiful and romantic. Pointless frippery. Killing people and taking their stuff, now, that’s business.

Business is an excellent pretension.

It’s usually an alloy, actually. And there are ranges of what constitutes what; minimums within the standard and so forth. It’s not always easy to determine an alloy isn’t quite what someone told you it was, especially if nobody is really checking.

sentinel missile programme triggers some Congressional alert , 80% increase from 100 odd billions to 200 odd billion US dollars . Some 35 billions on replacing the silos and whatnot because drone scares are harbingers of things rather more dreadful . Justified as a sponge . If 300 warheads on 100 missiles , the ICBM fields in CONUS should soak at least 300 hostile warheads . This despite leaks that the Soviets felt they were totally backwards and would fire everything at US cities and other stuff to kill/destroy as much as possible , as a standart response to an US First Strike . The ability to conduct one eagerly sought with the SDI attempt .

china changes this , too . Correct that they were not covered by various arms control treaties ; protected by valiant US efforts against evil Soviet proposals , too . So , like the US allows New Turkey to acquire a conventional (Chinese) IRBM capability so that the "inevitable" Russian response would justify the removal of some treaty which then would channel a lot money to rocket makers now that Civilian market would be turned over to Musk and Bezos . Apparently , the rocket makers' institutional memory is not what it used to be .

those billions even before a supposed 2026 crunch in funds mean a lot of trouble for NGAD . '26 is an election year , university students in Berkeley and rednecks in Texas have to be impressed by fiscal responsibility , irregardless of who wins this November or something . Really stupid , of course , considering all the war talk we have been hearing .

meaning things have to be done differently . Meaning Tokyo-Manila deal that allows the parties to conduct training at each other's territory . Which opens the way for Japan to finance building or replacing bases in Philipinnes to ease the burden on Pentagon budget , allowing US Forces deployed in Japan to move down South or create more more offensive power if Japan joins the war and at least protects the bases and logistic lines . In Japan , the Pasific and the Philipinnes .

guam to Taipei 2750km . Manila to Taipei 1161 .

which suddenly means USAF no longer wants to replace its F-22s . Or start retiring them . Even before the possibility of bringing in Indonesia and Malaysia with increased confidence from must-exist-Japanese-Black-Projects , this is real estate that can't be "sunk" by Chinese anti-ship missiles . Like makes it much easier for me to say ı no longer have a view on Taiwan's status . Even if at the height of embargos "against" New Turkey , America still sold helicopter engines to allow export of New Turkey attack helicopters to Manila . Any promise by New Turkey binds only New Turkey . And in before question marks at the home front , the helicopter deal like started in the 1980s as Cobras with the then new 4 blade rotors with no limits on upgrades and stuff . Like clearly those 20 old Raptors will soon be overseas as an agressor squadron , taking on the traditions of the one that used to be at Clark Field . Neatly solving the thorny issues of F-24G exports to Philippinnes . Yeah , will not oppose if Vietnam wants to buy some .

that shorter range also brings in the Naval Fighter of 2017 . Because basically the same set of officials cleared them both , 2017 thing and '24G and the Navy Fighter can clearly be made to have the kinematics , if evil traitors in the Pentagon who reject the god given superiority of the F-35 are not kicked out or retired fast enough , them banally evil loser Turks tried to sabotage the programmes of honest Americans and bought rotten bad titanium from Gyna to stab Americans in the back . In case one was just reading the thread and one wondered and one is not doing god's work in arranging the proper spending of the Christian dollars for defence .

the whistleblower concept implies one working at someplace to rat about stuff . As ı am not working anywhere , being an idiot to begin with and there is nothing the entire Defence Industry of this country could take to Farnborough to horrify the passerby and America can surely block any deals New Turkey can do like the Indonesian idea of buying an F-16 modernization package not from Lockmart . So , like am totally safe . People in CFC knows r16 style , they will just ignore my little amount of command of a Space Marines battalion on Pluton , basically in the middle of the heart thing ... Which is NOT called by the name of the American astronomer who declared Pluton is not a planet .

BTW, how do you counterfeit titanium? It's a metal.

what do "they" want ? Like don't ı tell people ? "They" want the 6th Generation fighter of this country to be compatible with NATO standarts , off-limits to Easterners . That's the reason the factory in Ankara gets some infusion of American stuff . If anyone loves the Brits so much , no problem with me . If anyone wants to become Arabs , ı have never had problems with our Arabs . Like only fools do not have a second 100% ITAR free 7th Generation Fighter Project .

Those astronauts still stuck up there? Ah, yep, they are.

In a stunning decision, NASA has announced the astronauts will return using SpaceX.

The ailing Boeing spaceship will return to Earth empty.

A SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule will bring home two NASA astronauts who have remained on board the International Space Station for about 80 days because of issues plaguing the Boeing Starliner spacecraft — marking a stunning turn of events for the beleaguered aerospace giant.

The news comes after the space agency held a formal review on Saturday to determine whether it would deem Boeing’s Starliner vehicle safe enough to return home with its crew — or if SpaceX’s workhorse Crew Dragon spacecraft would have to step in to save the day.

Also, more bad news for Boeing airplanes.

Hopefully the new CEO brought in on August 8th Kelly Ortberg can turn things around.

Unlikely, the rot is 20 years old and bone deep. The entire management needs replacing. In this context hollowing out and rebuilding from scratch. Oof. What an amazing property, Boeing, and so recklessly and hopelessly mismanaged.

33000 Boeing machinists have gone on strike.

SEATTLE (AP) — Aircraft assembly workers walked off the job early Friday at Boeing factories near Seattle and elsewhere after union members voted overwhelmingly to go on strike and reject a tentative contract that would have increased wages by 25% over four years.

The strike started at 12:01 a.m. PDT, less than three hours after the local branch of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers announced 94.6% of voting workers rejected the proposed contract and 96% approved the work stoppage, easily surpassing a two-thirds requirement.

The labor action involves 33,000 Boeing machinists, most of them in Washington state, and is expected to shut down production of the company’s best-selling airline planes. The strike will not affect commercial flights but represents another setback for the aerospace giant, whose reputation and finances have been battered by manufacturing problems and multiple federal investigations this year...

First strike in 16 years.

I'd take 25% more pay over 4 years, but who knows what other shady stuff Boeing tried to pull.

Let's see how America's #1 exporter does without any employees to build the planes.

**Edit**
Aww, the Boeing Reddit went private.

Here is another story on the strike.

They asked for 40%. Guess they don’t want to be suckers.

Finally some good news for Boeing.

The empty Starliner Capsule successfully landed on Earth. :D

The capsule may have survived but the program certainly won’t.

They’re also screwing up the space launch system which is just incredible.

Well that’s what you get when you tighten the bolts for years and years seeking short term profits until eventually your people literally forgot how to do engineering. Like you literally can’t do engineering because your systems aren’t set up to support it. But they are set up to support the woozy schmoozy. A room full of good ol boys and not a one of them sober nor apparently any of them thinking that airplanes falling out of the sky is bad for business.
