The Capo's LH Gallery and Self-Help Thread!

Arpad (and the rest of them) looks great Capo! :goodjob:
I must say, Arpad doesn't look that fat to me. He doesn't look that much larger then Brennus, and (adding on to what Capo already said) chain mail is practically worthless without some form of padding anyway.
But a very small nitpick that I sure you are probably already going to fix. Arpad's face is tanned but his hands are still rather pale which looks a bit weird. I mean, unless he usually rides around with gloves on or something, I really don't know much about early Hungarian fashions.

Yeah, I haven't colored his hands yet. Good eye though. :goodjob:

Little known fact about Camilo Benso: He was actually Italy's least appetizing popsicle.

I could need some help here. I'm still trying to make the Széchenyi LH use Lincolns animation. At the moment, the torso, the hands and the head are working, but there are some additional parts that need some rigging (the beard and the furs). The right fur needs to be moved a little by the arm, so I wanted to rig it to the right bicep bone slightly at the edges (with a weight of 0.3, but that's only a guess). I read Ekmeks guide, but that sh** programm called Blender that really causes headache like a brain tumor doesn't want to let me. I'm selecting the vertices I'd like to rig to the bicep at first. Instead of selecing the bicep bone from the list, I had to enter its name manually as the list only contained the bone that I added as group previously (then, there was no bone at all to select from, so I had to key that in as well). Next, I try to assign the vertices to the biceps using 0.3 as weight. Sometimes something gets rigged to the biceps, but I dn't know what as The coyotes trick about how to view the weights in Blender simply doesn't work and looking at the exported nif lets me think, that the fur is rigged to the biceps completely. If I use the select button in Blender, all vertices seem to be rigged to both bones, but that shouldn't be the case. Also, sometimes it seems like the torso bone got completely dropped from the furs skininstance after export, although I just tried to assign some of the vertices to the biceps again... To me, it seems like Blender is bugged...

BTW1: Would be nice to know how to pan up or down the view without the menu. The key combination there (something with numpad 8) simply doesn't work - it's just hiding the lower panel. Knowing how to rotate the view over an axis anyhow would be nice, too.

BTW2: The eyes work only 90%: rarely, they jump out of their sockets. Ideas?

well on reimport if the item didn't have the bone it won't have it. to get the bone back you have to join it to an object that has the bone.

eye bugging is an issue. you may have to separate lincoln's eyes and swap then back then move the head to line it up.

for the numpad to work you need to have the cursor in the model view and munlock on

It's been pretty quiet around here, you still kickin Capo?

Yeah, I've been pretty busy with RL not to mention I am also working on a mod. The mod is actually my number one priority when it comes to modding so that's why these guys are taking so long, plus there are also a lot of side-projects I have (i.e. people PM me and ask me for help on something) that you may or may not know I am working on. They'll be done when they're done.

Hmm... not much going on here... Maybe I can help a little. When I was on vacation in the last two weeks, I made some pictures of a yurts interior. Maybe they could be used as background for Árpád? Also, I'll send you two more files. One is a video, you'll see... The other one is a more comprehensive collection of my vacation photos containing the full pictures plus a guy that stood around there and explained the arrows conquesting Hungarians used. He was clothed like an Hungarian of those days, so he may be used as an inspiration for Árpád. The reason why I haven't posted those pictures here, is making sure that I respect the guys personal rights. If you decide that they might be useful and want them to be discussed, you may post them here, but make sure you make any person shown on the pictures unrecognizable.

aaarppaaaaaaddddddd

?

Everyone is going to have to wait for Arpad, I am working on a mod right now and I have experienced a few setbacks which will indefinitely delay ALL leaderheads I am working on. To be honest I probably won't get around to finishing them until after Civ V comes out, so if you planned on switching over right away then you will probably not get to use Arpad.

I'm in no rush to go to Civ 5. It doesn't sound all that great from what I've been seeing. Maybe the product will exceed my expectations though I think we may have to wait until the inevitable expansion for it to get refined and better than when it initially ships.

Your Arpad looks so greate and you've been saying he's so close to being done

Do you, The Capo, find the pictures I posted here and sent you via pm valuable? Do you think they are worth being discussed here? I could make all persons shown on the pictures I only sent to you unrecognizable, then post all pictures here.

You can discuss them here, that's fine with me. I am not a very secretive person. :goodjob:

Okay, here are my photos (long post, sorry):

I don't say 'make Árpád like that guy', but maybe you can use him as inspiration. Let's say, you could take that fur in consideration. In any case, for v2 I'd replace the belt and remove the white shroud as I said previously. The armor can work, I believe, but should be covered mostly (by furs for example) and just look through here and there. Although I like the hat the guy on the photos wears, your helmet is pretty okay, so you can keep it. The rest of the head is just fine as well.
Also, maybe my pictures could be used as background...

Pic #2'd look neat as Arpad's background.

:eek2:I knew it! The units of Civ3 have finally come to life!:dubious:

I agree with DF, pic#2 would make a good background for the LH.

I'm not switching to CV right away. In fact, I still have a healthy relationship with CIII and Uprising 2: Lead and Destroy (from the days of 3dfx, 3DO, and Cyclone Studios i.e. 1997) CIV will remain on my computer for a long, long time, and so I'll have plenty of time for DipII and any LH's you make

You are lucky I love you Cool.

Ask and you shall receive... I'll do it, but give me a few (at LEAST three) weeks.

Drunken EDIT: Ultimately what I want to exemplify with Arpad is the idea of forging a nation out of sheer will and grit, to me that epitomizes the American spirit. I understand Arpad is nowhere near being an American, but I feel like in a sense we share some of the same values (perhaps not the overt violence, but that is arguable), but a people's right to their own destiny is certainly something all Americans appreciate, and you can rest assured that THIS American will show that value in Arpad. :goodjob:
