The Capo's LH Gallery and Self-Help Thread!

If you're making Chiang, but not replacing Cixi with him, suppose there's hope he'll show up in some sort of modular Taiwan civ?

Also, for Arpad's facial hair, I hope you're going with the awesome bikerish mustache he has in most statues.

These are all requsted LHs, so no I am not going to replace Cixi with Chiang in my mod.

I'll try to make Arpad as bad-ass as possible. :goodjob:

Árpád united the hungarian tribes and was also the first ruler of the house of Árpád (guess where the name comes from) - that's why he has that father image. Although he is said to be forefather of Hungarians, not of Hungary. And of course you are ight: Stephen I. founded the kingdom - also from the house of Árpád.

I agree with your concepts. Making him a warrior from the steppes rather then king-like sounds good to me. Although I would say that the first statue from my collection - the one that can be seen on Wikipedia, too - doesn't look glorified. At least, the clothing looks nice. Also, I can just repeat to take a look at Bakuels archer and worker to get an idea of clothing.
With logo, I meant something like an heraldic animal. I can think of how to place it in the leaderhead either. I just mentioned it for any case.

Besides of that, I'm glad we could convince you :goodjob:

The Capo your Dido is very impressive and I'm definatly going to be using her. Was playing a game earlier with her in it, and that neck seam on her really sticks out. It's like bad breath on a $1000 whore; I mean something like that is expected and not really a problem from a girl you pick up on 82nd, but on a girl that's otherwise flawless it just makes it even more noticeable. I hate coming in here and bugging you about it though, so I'll shut up now. But I'm hoping you can consider using a necklace or something to cover the seem; I figure something simple like that would make her be perfect.

Also planning on using your Charles the V to replace El Cid; it's great because he covers the HRE, Spain, and the Netherlands, that's three civs that need a second leader.

Wow, you devoted almost a paragraph to the seem on Dido's neck! :p

I have to update the Dido file anyway, so I'll take a look at the neck and see what I can do.

As for Arpad, I think I have a general model set up now. I just wanted to post a preview shot and see what everyone else thinks, particularly the Hungarians. :goodjob:

EDIT: I'm not finished with his face/head yet, and I may change the mustache too. So that will probably look different.

It's a bit hard to say based on an untextured model. The basic concept of the head looks okay, I'd just make him slimmer (or is it 'more slim'?Anyways, maybe I should say scraggy?) and scruffy. And although I'm not sure about this either, long hair might be good idea.
The helmet looks pretty unique, nut I'm not sure whether it is typicall for Hungarians this ways. May I ask what you used as base?

Well, I didn't want to show it textured because I haven't changed any of the textures from the original models yet, in fact that isn't even put together yet, the pieces are arranged together, but not attached.

Here is what it looks like with the texture, keep in mind this isn't the final version and this is certainly not the final texturing.

Well, that gives me a better impression. I still think you should make him more scraggy and scruffy. The beard could be slightly longer maybe. I understood that you didn't change anything on the textures yet, but if we already mention it, I'd suggest you try a light brownish teint. I could be wrong with this, but I could imagine it works. The colour of the beard might be okay. At this point, these suggestions are more guesses then anything else. In any case, the feather looks odd as is. You might try to rotate it and move it a slightly bit towards the center.

I'd make his head longer, and a bit less wide. Though I do agree most statues and paintings of him don't depict him that accurately in all possibility, they do almost all depict him with fairly narrow face (but a strong chin.)
Best comparison I could make would be kinda like John Cleese's head, but with a manlier chin.

No, he wasn't evil and that would be the wrong way for the LH, but I could imagine he was a rough man.

This may interest Avain too because of his latest add-on civ for VD.

I started working on an Aborigine leader because I figured it'd be easy and the old LHs could use an update. Check it out. :goodjob:

Nice one! I was thinking about adding an Aborigine leader previously...

I mentioned one of the reasons I started working on an Aborigine leader was that I figured it'd be easy, and so far it has been. I plan on changing the mustache (I think), but I'm not really sure which one would fit this LH.

Anyway, here is a better in-game shot of the LH, which I have started calling "Yagan" until I figure out who he should be (you could also call this one "Gandhi on Acid"). It was a very simple LH to make, and drew heavily upon the Aborigine LHs we have now. I hope you guys like him so far, and if you have any suggestions please let me know. :goodjob:

As for Arpad, I'll try to get something similar up for him later. He is a bit more involved and then I'll finish up Cavour, who I have already started working on as well.

Maybe make his eyebrows bushier? I dunno, but very nice, as always. A new look for an old concept.
