For CivIV, eh? (wow, way to go Canadian :p) Does this mean that if CV is modable (:please: let it be so!) you'll work on Leaderheads? I'll actually hope that people make "upgrades" to their leaderheads so that they work on CV. There are some really good ones, by you, Ekmek, Nitram15, and various others whose screen names don't immediately come to mind :)

I didn't say I'm going to start modding Civ V, I just said I am making 12 more LHs for Civ IV and that will be it. My mod is taking up a lot of my free time for modding right now, so I figured I'd limit myself to 12 more to ensure that they are really good. I could still change my mind, but 12 seems about right to me.

By the way, Capo, my mod is ready and I want to upload it and share it. Where should I upload it? I know you had some problems with your files being deleted on certain sites. Any recommendations?
 
I would use Dropbox if I were you. I have liked it so far, although people have complained that they didn't get the full download (well, you and MadmanOfALeader were the only ones), so I'm not sure. That's something I'm worried about myself.

So, here's a question...

I'm trying to make an object in Nifskope that will show up semi-transparent in the game. I tried just copying and pasting the alpha properties from the glasses of FDR, but for my purposes I need something more opaque. I tried setting an alpha channel in the dds texture, but now the object doesn't show up at all.

Any ideas?
 
Actually, yes.

I saw a unit before that was basically transparent, I think it was an "Ice-Swordsman." I'll try to find it for you and see what they did.

EDIT: Could not find it on my computer. IIRC it was from a German Lord of the Rings mod. So if anyone knows what I am talking about and has the link, or the files themselves, please let me/us know.
 
do you want something like victoria's clear scarf thing on the back of her head?

try joining your object to the object with properties you like then delete the original materials so just id left are the properties you want. all done in blender.

Yeah, you could do that too, although I think you still might need to create the alpha property yourself, which could be difficult. Also are you trying to make the LH itself opaque? Because you'll still see the eyeballs and teeth AFAIK.

I don't know which unit you mean, but you mean this mod.
From whereever the unit is, it aslo has to be either here in the DB or in FfH2.
 
It is basically only the regular swordsman model, but with different texture and I believe some sort of transparency property. It is supposed to look like it is made of ice, and does a pretty good job at recreating it. Unfortunately I can't find the file and don't know what the name of the unit is.
 
Well, if you just paint the alpha channel black, the object will disappear. At lighter colorations (the light shades of grey), the object will be transparent, but not invisible.

Yeah, I'd try this out first and see how that works for you. I know you are one of those modders that likes surprising people, but I think a better description of exactly what you want to accompilsh would be more helpful. If you want to PM me, that'd be fine.

The Capo, your leaderheads are simply awesome.
What is not awesome is that they are not optimized, I'm just checking your great Kamehameha and Salamasina LHs and those are using 14 Mb and 20Mb! Using more of these as they are easily causes MAFs when playing.
It would be a crime not to use them since they are sheer brilliance, but on the other hand what good is the best art if you cannot finish a game with them???
 
Well, I didn't try out most of The Capos LHs, but I never had any crashes because of LHs. Are you really sure that the problem is nothing else, like damaged RAM or something?

It's not because of any single leaderhead. It's starting the happen when the FPK size goes over a certain limit. I've also heard that there's no such issue on MAC - so I guess we are just blessed with Windows. But anyway, it's an issue.
