Well, I am very sorry (and angry) to report that my computer isn't working again. When I hit the power button it starts running (the fan is at least), my speakers and keyboard turn on but the computer doesn't. The lights don't come on or anything and the monitor reports that there is no signal. So I don't know what to do, it may take me a few days to get it working (or longer). So yeah, not sure what else to say, I'll try to get it working but right now it doesn't. Which is upsetting to me for more reasons than this, believe me.
 
:eek: It happens to the best of us, Capo! Do you keep a regular backup of your files?

I think the abu bakr is mine. it was back when I tried to make civ3-ish leader heads and before I knew a lot more about Leaderheads.


On arpad - how is the bear doing with the face? are their gaps? some parts look really square

on Harun - looks like hannibal base. at least with the nose. I recommend cutting off that nose and swapping it with Saladin or suleiman to make it more arab and less african

Arab =/= Turkish; but I think that the Saladin nose would fit best IMO.

my username is ekmek - you'd think I know something about Turks (I lived in Turkey for over a year). so I know Arab does not equal Turkish. But if you want to get into details 1) eastern Turks look far closer to arabs than western Turks 2) the ottoman sultans were not ethnically turkish since they were mixing with europeans for centuries. :mischief:

But I recommended the turkish leaders nose meshes because they look loser to mideastern noses than the other leaderheads. especially beter than hannibals standard nose. But Saladin - who was of kurdish mix - may be the better fit.

Hopefully your hard disk is intact, usually this is a problem with your graphics board, motherboard or even memory. Your Fan can also be working but does it have enough power?

Motherboard issues or loose RAM, most likely. If reseating the RAM doesn't work, and you've tried another monitor cable (or monitor), then it's most likely motherboard failure.

I've had a similar issue on a few occassions, two were after a move and it turned out my RAM had just become a bit loose, the other time was because I made the mistake of purchasing an ASUS mobo.

Lemme put it this way, ASUS:mobos::Titus "Superman 64" Software:video games.
 
I'd say the RAM is okay as you'd likely get your monitor on and error messages from your BIOS if it would be the RAM. Could be the graphics, but BIOS / your pc would probably beep then. A harddrive failure would cause similar issues as the RAM. So, yeah, the motherboard or the fan could be the cause of your problem. Even if your fan is running, it still might provide insufficant power. If you can, you could remove any card and drive you don't really need (soundcard, dvd drive) to save power to see if your pc starts then. Also, a card might be the cause of your problem (unlikely, see RAM), so you could find out where's the problem.

Also, when I had problems like this, putting the pc to the side and then start it. BTW does your pc smell like burned plastic or metal?

If nothing helps, maybe you find an adapter or something to connect your harddrive via usb to another pc or laptop?

Well, I can say that I've lived in Turkey for most of my life, I've traveled around the country, and you contradicted yourself (partially). Eastern Turks do have ""some"" semblance to Arabs, but I wouldn't go as far as saying that they are very similar. Turks were largely isolated in the Anatolian heartland, and if anything have more similarities to Greeks (Byzantines), whose land they occupied. Otherwise Anatolia has always remained very Turkified, and the Sultans never mingled with the common Eastern Anatolian people, so thats really besides the point.

Its true that Ottoman Sultans did take on Eastern European/Black Sea women into their harem, but by Mehmed or even Suleiman's time, there wasn't that much European inter-mingling, and even if they did pleasure themselves with Eastern European women, their heirs mostly came from their Turkish wives, so I believe in seeing both Mehmed's and Suleiman's nose, both of them look fine. :)

As for Harun al-Rashid's nose, I would still suggest Saladin's, because I don't think Sid Meier put too much thought into whether Saladin's nose was Kurdish or Arab looking ;)
And frankly, its shape fits fine, for any Iraqi leader.
 
Uh, first of all I don't think it has anything to do with the memory or anything, I'm pretty sure I can still get that out, so while I haven't had it looked at yet I am pretty sure I can recover it.

Anyway, the base is not Hannibal, it is Ragnar Lodbrok, and the nose is not Ragnar's either it is already Saladin's, you just can't tell from that image. :goodjob:

My computer is getting looked at tomorrow. Best case scenario I can salvage everything, worst case scenario I have to buy a new computer. Either way I should be back to modding regularly sometime next week, the latter scenario is going to suck ass, and will result in A LOT of delays (I am working on a mod after all) because I will have lost everything I had. I guess this isn't really much of an update.

Anyway, I saw a bunch of people DLed Benazir Bhutto, does this mean I will see her made soon?
 
Your problem doesn't sound as if it's caused by your hard drive, so I'm sure you'll be able to salvage your data even in the worst case.

well I've been working on the rigging. Everyone else probably downloaded her as back up. lol

I was wasted last night. I feel like crap.

Anyway, the dude I gave my computer to said he may be able to get the information off of the hard drive, but he isn't sure. Apparently it isn't a high priority for him but I let him know today that if he could work on it asap that would be great. I got another computer in the meantime and will get civ on it when I can, I have a party to go to today so I won't really have time to work on anything because it is a big deal.

So possibly some bad news. I will hope for the best.

Worst case scenario I just have to remake the LHs I was working on.
