I'd like to get rid of some of our stone before we push to the magma. Although, that may just be me being overly clean ;). I also forgot to mention that one of our craftsdwarfs became possessed (name started with an F.. I forgot). Although, since he was possessed and not put in a fey mood.. he didn't become legendary. He did however make a amulet using three pieces of wood.

I think we should try to focus on getting a cloth-making/leather-making operations up before we move onto smithing.

I'll mine some limestone near the river so we can get cave spider silk. Leather is cheap and can be bought in quantity from the caravans. In my own game I have bought huge amounts of leather from the caravans and made leather armors. Then I sell the armors to the caravan next year. If I'll build a catapult or two near the entrance and set them to fire at will, we'll get rid of some stone. True It's slow at first, but experienced siege engine operators are nice to have.

Allright. It's spring again. I started major production of stone items to get rid of the excess stone. Doors, cabinets, tables, thrones, you name it. There's never enough doors anyways. There are four catapults waiting to be operated. I assigned the fisherdwarf as operator because he was standing idle most of the time "No fish in the river" "Nothing to catch in the swamps". Also the miners are masons too. I hate when they stand idle when there's nothing to dig. I produced large amounts of bronze for future use. One of the craftsdwarves got possessed during the autumn. Made a wooden ring. We were almost out of wood and out of alcohol too. Brewed as much as we had free barrels and commenced some serious timberwork. There's a temporary bridge over the chasm for building of a wider bridge. Maybe the dwarves plummet less frequently if the bridge is wide enough.

Over to you PrinceScamp. I guess we welcome new players too?

I'll be home in two days, but I won't be able to play for another 2 days.

Nothing for the miners to dig? BS. There's ALWAYS something to dig. Or engrave. Have we got any engravings going? Also, if a planted farm is flooded, does it destroy the crop?

I put some of the idle dwarfs on engraving duty and did some engraving. I did dig some malachite and cassiterite ore along the river. I would have expanded past the chasm, but I wanted a decent bridge first. My priority was to get rid of the stone so don't be surprised when you see all the masons workshops churning out furniture, doors and blocks. We have plenty of digging to do if we want an underground forest which is not a bad idea, considering the elphants.

Flooding doesn't destroy crops from what I've seen.

This would be a good time for a new player to grab the save.

[EDIT]I will be gone for a few days, so skip my turn if needed.

PrinceScamp, have you picked up the save yet?

AHHHHH! RUN FOR IT! IMMIGRANT RUSH!

Okay, so anyways, mining continues, I'm starting work on the noble rooms since the sheriff, manager and House Ber arrived. I decided to get rid of the last three stragglers to arrive, however before I could get them both into the drowning chamber, Ast Latirist bravely rushed off to get tusk buggered by an elephant. So I only get to drown two of em now. Still spring.

EDIT: Oh, and of course, they HAVE to go pick up the dead guy's clothing, risking yet more lives. Another peasant, Onol is getting chasing a named elephant and getting chased by an un-named elephant.

Gah, another herd of Es spawned.

EDIT: Hey, you can rename the houses, House Scamp, definately not at your service!

Also, we have a metalsmith who will probably go crazy, he needs rough gems (though perhaps he really wants glass), ore, and hides that we don't have.

EDIT: And a child, I think he's going to grow up to be a fisherman, has fallen asleep adjacent to the waterfall. Okay, so it's the end of spring, I shall play the summer tomorrow.

Okay, so the metalsmith is running around babbling, luckily I managed to lock him in his room so he can starve to death without disturbing the other dwarves.

EDIT: Didn't mean to post, I'll be updating this post throught the season.

Update: A peasent drowned within 1 second of getting hit by a river flood. After chasing two ore veins I have worked out the noble's rooms and they are getting dug out. All of the bed rooms have a coffer and cabinet. The entrance hallway is also almost done being smoothed.

last update: We still need a few more bedrooms for the regulars.and also really nice furniture for the nolbe's rooms. The engravers are finishing off the area for the marksmen to stand behund when defending the entrance hall. I suggest also chasing after ore veins across the chasm and finding iron.

As well we need to make weapons and armour, I suggest that the following people in the next imigrant wave be made into soldiers and perhaps a couple of more siege operators;

Masons
Craftsdwarves
Mechanics
Jewlers

All other classes should only have one or two (maybe 3 peasents and two carpenters) be kept and the rest soldiered.

Oh, and I recommend making another farm and a second still.

EDIT: Save mailed to Rhein

Quick Question:

Best place to search for iron ?
Ive mined out a large area of the map and now in my third year but having trouble locating Iron, Mining out the area between the inland river and Chasm but not luck so far.

The iron is usually found behind the chasm. There are sometimes small amounts just before it, but not often. You are also likely to find gold and platinum behind the chasm.

TEH SAVE!

Or if someone new would like to have a stab at it.
